Nicolas & Erin
We would like to thank you for taking the time to review our profile and learn about us. We are a warm and loving couple that has fun together, laughs often and enjoys life. We are so excited to become parents through adoption and can't wait to share our lives with the new addition to our family.
Our Leisure Time
We do not get bored easily, as we have a wide variety of hobbies. To relax, we both like to read, watch movies, and Nicolas likes to play the occasional video game. But we are also very social, and often meet up with our friends to play board games or go out together. In addition, we like to spend time outdoors, and love to go hiking with our dog whenever the weather is nice.
Erin loves to cook and bake, and can prepare the most amazing and delicious dishes! Her favorite food to make is chocolate chip cookies! Erin also loves to garden, and has a plot at the local community garden. She grows all kinds of vegetables, which she then enjoys cooking for her family and friends to enjoy. Erin also loves to play the piano, and has fun playing Christmas songs during the holidays as our niece and nephews sing along.
Nicolas has a big artistic side, and likes to paint. When our niece and nephews come to visit, they always ask for Nicolas to paint with them, which is a lot of fun for everyone! Painting is something Nicolas learned from his dad, and he looks forward to passing this skill on to a child someday. Nicolas also likes to build model airplanes, and loves anything having to do with aviation. We look forward to sharing these interests with this child!
Education We will Provide
A good education starts at home, and we feel that we are particularly well prepared to provide a high quality learning environment for the child. We plan on introducing the child to the French language from a young age, so that he or she may feel comfortable when we go to France and see Nicolas’ French relatives. Since Erin has a good level of Spanish, we would also like to encourage the child to learn that language from an early age. But in any case, we plan on providing the child with a well-rounded education and exposure to many different fields, from history and literature to math and science. We want to find fun ways to encourage curiosity and a love for exploration and learning. We think that a good education is incredibly important to get ahead in the world, and will support the child on whatever path he/she wishes to take.
Our Favorite Vacation Spot
We love to travel and discover new places, so it is hard to pick a single favorite vacation spot. But if we had to choose, it would be a small village deep in the French countryside called Bozouls. One of Nicolas’ aunts was born there, in an old farmhouse which is now owned by his cousins. It is such a beautiful and peaceful place! Rolling hills, lush forests, cows munching quietly in green pastures, a quaint village with the ancient ruins of a medieval castle. It is a place that seems to be straight out of a fairy tale. After we went last summer, some of our best memories were of warm and sunny days visiting nearby castles or hiking in the wooded hills, and then eating dinner out in the garden, where the only other sounds were the birds and the whisper of a soft summer breeze. Many times, we have thought about how great it would be to bring a child to that place, where he or she could safely explore and discover the wonders of nature and the rich local culture.
Our Extended Families
We love spending time with our families. Erin’s parents, and her brother and his family, all live a few miles from each other in North Carolina. Erin’s brother and his wife have three children who are so much fun. Our niece and nephews love to visit us in the Washington, DC area and play with our dog Ivy. Erin also has aunts, uncles and cousins who live near her parents. We all get together for a fun-filled Christmas brunch with lots of music and yummy food to kick off the holiday season. Erin’s mom is from Canada, so she also has many relatives up North. They live in a beautiful area on a lake, which is perfect for swimming, canoeing and fishing.
Most of Nicolas’ family lives in France. His parents and his sister live in Paris, which is always a very exciting city to visit: so many great museums, beautiful parks, and wonderful food! One of our favorite things to do is to walk by the Eiffel Tower at night when it is lit up. Nicolas’ dad is originally from Texas, so Nicolas has many relatives there too - aunts, uncles, and cousins. They are a very fun bunch, and they always treat us to fantastic BBQ and Tex-Mex food when we go to see them!
Our families are excited we are building our family through adoption, and can’t wait to meet this child and share memories and experiences together.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a culturally diverse area near Washington, DC. It only takes about 15 minutes to get into the city, where there are countless museums, festivals, sporting events and activities we enjoy. We live in a townhouse which is located on a quiet cul-de-sac where we have neighbors of various ages and ethnicities. We moved into our house 3 years ago and have fallen in love with the neighborhood. Our neighbors have become good friends and many have young children who love to play with our dog, Ivy. There are sidewalks throughout, many green, grassy areas to play in, an elementary school, playgrounds, swimming pools and tennis courts. There is also a farmers’ market within walking distance that we like to go to on Sunday mornings. There is always a long line at the food truck that sells apple cider donuts! The neighborhood association organizes a lot of fun, family-friendly events each year, including an Easter egg hunt, a Christmas party with Santa, a July 4th celebration and a BBQ/pool party. Halloween is the biggest event of the year, with lots of spooky decorations, a neighborhood costume contest and hundreds of children out trick-or-treating.
From Us to You
Our names are Nicolas and Erin, and we want to thank you for taking the time to view our profile and consider us. We understand that you are faced with a very difficult decision, and that you want what is best for your child. We have so much respect and admiration for you, because this choice is truly one of selfless love and faith. We hope that you will find some peace of mind in learning more about us and how we would love and care for your child.
We met through a mutual friend about nine years ago and quickly fell in love. After a little over a year of dating, it became clear that we were meant for each other, and we got married in 2010. We love experiencing each new stage of life as a couple, and have been there for one another during our happiest moments as well as for those that are more challenging. We feel lucky to have each other’s strength and support to rely on at all times.
From the moment we met, we both knew that we wanted to have children. Over time, however, it became increasingly clear that we were unable to have children on our own. As we thought about other ways to build a family, the only option that felt right to us was adoption. This is not a decision that we took lightly - we put much thought into it and shared our story with family members and friends who built their own families through adoption, so that we could go into this knowing what to expect. While we explored the process, our excitement began to grow as we realized that adoption was the perfect choice for us.
As you consider your options, please know that we would welcome your child into a stable and loving family. We both have caring and nurturing personalities, and we look forward to sharing our love with your baby. Raising this child will be the single most important thing in our life.
We have a fun and active lifestyle, and we are eager to include your child in it. We live close to Washington, DC, where there are so many interesting and fun things to do. There are always new opportunities to learn and have fun! We also keep active, and will make sure to raise your child in a healthy lifestyle. One thing that really helps is that we have a very playful and energetic dog, which encourages us to spend a lot of time outdoors. Our dog, Ivy, loves kids and is very gentle and patient with them. She will be a wonderful friend to your child!
We travel to France regularly, since Nicolas is originally from the Paris region and still has many relatives there. We really look forward to travelling there with your child, and teaching him or her about that country’s language and culture.
As your child grows up, we look forward to sending you pictures, letters, and emails, so you can see your child thrive and know that you made the right decision. You will see that your child is in a loving home, and will grow up to become a strong, smart, compassionate, and successful person. We will make sure that your child knows how much we admire your strength at making such a difficult decision, and that your love for him or her is forever.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for giving us the opportunity to become a family. We are more than ready to become parents and love your child.
