Our Most Memorable Moment

At Magic Kingdom

Our most memorable moment was our first vacation as a family. One summer we had an opportunity to go to Florida. Being that close meant we had to visit Walt Disney World! We've always been a Disney family and couldn't wait to take our child to one of our favorite places. Kylie brought the magic of the park to life for us in a whole new way. We watched her meet characters, enjoy the rides, parades, fireworks and most of all, get to hug MICKEY MOUSE! Watching her eyes light up when meeting her favorite character made us both tear up.

While in Florida we also got the opportunity to take Kylie to one of our other favorite places, the beach! It was so much fun watching Kylie step onto the sand for the first time and then to experience the water. Once she realized what it was, she got very dirty and very wet! It was all worth it, when hearing her giggles and squeals as the waves came in and crashed against her feet. It was an experience we will always cherish and one we can't wait to do again with a larger family.

Our Leisure Time

Leisure time has taken on a whole new meaning now that we have Kylie in our lives. Our goal is to find at least one "adventure" every week that sometimes could be just playing a new game or watching a movie.

Music has always been a huge part of our lives. It's how we grew up, how we met and continues to be one of our biggest passions. Justin still plays trombone with the local community college, while Christy occasionally sings. Christy grew up as a dancer and is passing her love on to Kylie as she is taking dance lessons and really loving them.

We Love to Play Games

Besides music, we are avid sports fans, from football to basketball and especially major league baseball. Justin continues to play softball and golf and now working on soccer with Kylie. Swimming has become a more common event as Kylie is taking lessons and we practice at the local pools.

We also love to take family walk and visits to parks. Zoey our dog, makes a great excuse to walk around the neighborhood while Kylie learns to ride her tricycle. We have movie nights, and play times and are just starting to get into board games. We are beyond excited to add another child to our fun!/p>

Discussing Adoption

Having already adopted Kylie, we continue to develop our understanding of adoption and work on how to discuss it as a family. It is no secret that Kylie is adopted. As a very young child we are not sure how much she understands, but she knows she is adopted and that this gives her a unique story. Ironically she associates the idea most with adopting our dog Zoey. She thinks that we can just go to the store and pick a little sister or brother out for her, but as we talk to her more, she is beginning to understand that it's not so simple.

We believe that it is vital this child knows how much they are loved both by us and by you. As they grow, we want to be sure they understand where they come from, both as part of our family and from you. It is important to us that he or she understand how special their story is and how amazing it is that so many different people love them. They get to share two families that will forever be connected by a bond most people cannot even imagine.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Happy Home

We live in a fairly large neighborhood in Missouri along the Mississippi River. Our neighborhood is full of families with kids of all ages. We have enjoyed getting to know many new people by taking frequent family walks with our dog. Our house is a 4 bedroom home with a large family room, play room, dining room, and a large backyard. We have enjoyed decorating it and making it our own since moving in. Kylie has loved picking out the color of paint for her bedroom and decorating her play room. Christy is already making plans to add lots of color around the house this spring by planting all of her favorite flowers.

One of Our Favorite Parks

Throughout the year we like to take part in the many festivals and gatherings. There is an annual St. Patrick's Day parade, fireworks display on the 4th of July, and Food Truck nights at some of the local parks.

One of our favorite parks has a zoo, paddle boats, and lots of other attractions that lead to family fun weekends. We often meet family and friends here to have picnic lunches. It's a great place to throw a Frisbee, play catch, walk our dog, ride bikes or have a great day being together.

Our Extended Families

Bowling with Christy's Family

We grew up very close to our families and those bonds have only grown as we have gotten older. Both Christy and Justin's parents and Justin's sister live in the immediate area. They can't wait to welcome another little one into the family to spoil like crazy. Christy's sister, brother-in-law, and nephew recently moved to Hawaii. We talk to them often through video chat because Kylie and Xander are very close. All of us love to get together to laugh, tell stories, play games, and just have lots of fun.

Christy has extended family both in the area and all over the world. We have so much fun being together in different parts of the country. We love to carry on family traditions for holidays, events, and random dinners. One of our favorite things to do together is to go bowling! It's a tradition that started quite a few years ago and has only gotten to be more fun, and more competitive!

With Justin's Family

Justin's extended family is more spread out both in age and distance but thanks to technology, he has been able to connect with them more and has become closer with cousins, aunts and uncles that he has not had the opportunity before.

Our families have grown together in many ways especially since our daughter Kylie joined our lives. A new little one will only bring us closer together.

From Us to You

It is in the name of love that we write this letter to you and also the reason you have chosen to give life to your child. We are sure that you are having some of the same feelings as we are. We know there is a lot of uncertainty and fear, but most of all there is a tremendous love in your heart and ours. What an amazing decision you are making to bring your child into the world, and then giving the indescribable gift to a family that would have no other way of making their dreams possible.

Starting this process again for us has been a scary, overwhelming and yet amazing experience. Much like what you are going through. The paths that all of our lives have taken to get to this place may not have been what we planned or envisioned at the start, but we have certainly felt some unseen guidance bringing our worlds together.

Our names are Christy and Justin; we have spent over 20 years together. First meeting in high school and now married for the last nearly 14 years. We have been through most of the best and worst moments of our lives together and truly are the best partners we could ever want. Our dream has always been to have a family. After several years of trying and learning that we would not be able to conceive we finally found our answer with the adoption of Kylie just over 3 years ago. Through the blessings of her birth parents, she has become the light in our world. We dream of continuing to build that light by sharing all of our love and dreams with a new baby brother or sister.

The best way to describe us is fun and adventurous. We love spending time as a family and doing things we enjoy. Before having Kylie, we made an effort to do all of the things we love that brought us together and strengthen our relationship. We love to travel, but also to experience new things within our own home town. We enjoy being well rounded people who love the arts of our community as much as the sports and more action filled activities. We believe that children should be encouraged to learn and try all new things and follow their dreams. We do our best to expose Kylie to as many opportunities as possible and spend weekends exploring museums, parks, zoos, visiting friends and family or just cozying up together to play around the house.

Our families and friends have always been a source of strength. They have all encouraged us to take our own paths in life. Our parents have been great examples as we learn to be parents forKylie. They cheer us on even when we aren't perfect; they care for us when sad, give us support and guidance and never give up on us. They teach us how to love and be loved. We both come from families with long and happy marriages, good values and core beliefs. Right now, they can hardly wait for us to take this next step and bring home a new addition to the family. As always, they will support us as we try to make our dreams come true! They are waiting with open arms and loving hearts to fully welcome a new baby into our family.

Thank you for taking the time in getting to know us. This child making his or her way toward us has been in our hearts long before we began writing this letter to you. If you choose us, he/she will always know about the special way our families are joined. We will share the story of a family you helped create with respect, honor and love. We are happy to exchange pictures and letters with you, if that is something you desire. This child will always know what a gift you have given all of us.
