Our Leisure Time

We Love Baseball! A Cold Day at Wrigley Field

In our leisure time, we enjoy spending time together doing the things that make us laugh and have fun but we also take time and feel it is important to give back to the community. Cheryl enjoys working at a soup kitchen and volunteers as a mentor for a local Big Brother/Big Sister Program, while Dan dresses up as Santa and delivers the Christmas Presents, that we purchase, to a local shelter each holiday season.. We make sure that no matter how hectic our week can get, we have a date night. Some weeks we will get all dressed up and go to a nice restaurant, while other weeks we take a trip to Bed Bath and Beyond or Costco and follow it up with a trip to the ice cream shop. We like to act like kids and compete against each other in a miniature golf and go-cart competition or head to the local pool and water park.

We enjoy traveling together whether it be a long vacation by plane or a quick trip to a lake house for the weekend. Every few years, Dan enjoys a canoe trip, in Utah, with a group of friends he has had since kindergarten, while Cheryl enjoys the weekend with their wives shopping and cheering on our local baseball team. Sports is definitely a passion we share, as Dan was able to attend the games that led our beloved team win the World Series.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

Being Silly With Our Niece

Dan About Cheryl: I love my wife more and more as the years go by. I remember hearing a quote before about everyone brightening a room. "Some when they walk in, others when they walk out." Cheryl is most definitely the person that makes a room radiate when she walks in. She is always smiling and is full of energy, is bubbly and has a lust for life, like no one I have ever met before. She has the amazing ability to make even a perfect stranger feel welcome and right at home in her presence. She is genuine and generous and the compassion she has for others makes her even more beautiful on the inside, as she is on the outside. All of these qualities, I know, will make her a great mom.

Paddleboarding With a Friend's Daughter

Cheryl About Dan: I am so proud that Dan is my husband, and I love him beyond words. His kindness is something I noticed immediately and fell in love with the gentleness that came with it. His mom once told me that of her 8 children, Dan was always the one with the best demeanor. He is amazingly intelligent, gives honest advice, never passes judgement, and his best quality, is his humble nature. Dan can answer questions about Quantum Physics one minute, and the next he is talking about yesterday's game winning touchdown. It makes me smile to see how kids gravitate toward him and how sweet it is to watch Dan help fix the neighbor kid's bike, or throw a football in the backyard. His greatest gift to the world is yet to come, when I get to see him as a dad.

Type of Education We Will Provide

Education is very important to the both of us, and we believe that it starts at home. We will always lead by example and believe that is how a child will learn the core values of honesty, integrity, respect and compassion. We are committed to always supporting our child in whatever interests he/she may have.

We believe in "hands on" parenting, which we believe goes beyond reading and writing. In our area, we have many well-known museums, an aquarium, a planetarium, zoos and nature centers. We would like to take advantage of all the opportunities to allow a child to discover and explore.

We look forward to helping with homework and making sure he or she understands what is necessary for them to excel. As an engineer, Dan will definitely be helping with Math, as Cheryl excels in English. We will never pressure a child to achieve certain grades, but more importantly we want to provide a loving environment where he or she can come to us when they need help or are feeling overwhelmed. We both agree that not all children learn at the same rate and sometimes children require special help and attention. We are both committed to finding and providing whatever resources necessary to help your child with school. We are committed to having a college fund, so when the time comes, we believe it is our responsibility to help provide for their future.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

Two years ago, we moved to the suburbs with the intent of having a family. Our home is a spacious 5 bedroom home, with plenty of room for an awaiting playroom and nursery for a child. Our home is located in Illinois and our town is rated, "One of The Best Places to Live In Illinois." Our community provides numerous programs and activities for kids and families and is known for their quality educational system.

It didn't take long to meet our many neighbors. Our neighborhood is filled with many families and kids of all ages. We enjoy gathering with our neighbors to enjoy the summer concerts and "Kid Days", in the back of our subdivision. All the neighborhood kids and adults have so much fun at our block-parties, caroling party, Halloween Fest or simply our many impromptu gatherings.

Our home is steps away from a train to the city and adjacent to a huge park filled with playgrounds, soccer and baseball fields and a neighborhood swimming pool with water park. We enjoy the many bike and nature trails and take advantage of kayaking on the large lake. We look forward to the day we can take a child fishing and enjoy a summer day on the paddleboats. In the winter, the park turns into a winter wonderland where we enjoy strolling through the snow to see all the lights throughout the park, and skate on the park's ice skating rink.

Our Extended Families

Annual Family Trip to Colorado

Family is so important to us and we know ours will play a vital role in the life of a child. We are fortunate to have strong and loving relationships with our parents, siblings and extended families and we know that this child will be so loved.

Dan & Our New Niece

Cheryl's family all live within the area. Almost all of her extended family live within 20 minutes of our home. We love spending time with her family whether it be Sunday dinners, backyard BBQ's or adventures with her nieces. Her parents love having us all together to just hang out or drop by, and it is so helpful to have them close by. We enjoy the many traditions that have been passed down in Cheryl's family and our house is now the gathering spot for making Christmas cookies, creating different holiday crafts, and the big Thanksgiving Feast. Her siblings all still have an ongoing contest of ,"who can buy mom the sentimental Christmas present that will make her cry."

Dan's family all live within Illinois and two of his brothers live within an hour drive. Dan is 1 of 8 children, with 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Family gatherings are fun with a packed house full of siblings, nieces and nephews. The house has so much energy with different games being played and food always out. Dan's mom's baking is a tradition that has been passed down, and now Cheryl loves making some of her cookies and candy.

From Us to You

Hello. We are Dan and Cheryl. We appreciate you taking the time to look at our profile, and learn about us and our life. We have written this letter over and over because we have struggled to find the "right" words to express how grateful we are for your courage, strength, and for loving your child so much that you are willing to consider an adoption plan for him or her.

We knew from the very beginning that we were meant to be together. We hit it off immediately. Cheryl remembers that weeks into dating, her grandmother asked who is the young man that is making her smile so much? She confessed to her grandma that she was dating a man named Dan. Her grandma must have known something, because she told Cheryl that I bet you end up marrying this boy. Unfortunately, a few weeks later, Cheryl lost her grandma. Dan never had the chance to meet her, but he was by Cheryl's side through a very difficult time. We believe Grandma Anna watches over us and gave us her blessing, because we were married a year later, on November 3, 2012.

We have been together almost seven years, and although there is no such thing as the perfect life, we both believe that we have the perfect partner to get through all the twists and turns that life can bring. Through all our trials and triumphs, we stand sided by side. We laugh and cry together and are confident that we will be by each others side through whatever roller coaster ride comes our way. We love each other deeply and support, respect and encourage each other. We have a very healthy marriage and thank God everyday that he brought us together and pray for a child to be welcomed into our little family.

Since we started planning our future together, being parents is something we have always dreamed of. Unfortunately, after much heartache our fears were eventually confirmed. We were told we were unable to carry a child. That news wasn't easy, but through the support of each other, along with friends and family and our faith, it became very clear to us that our path to becoming parents was through adoption. We have spent time learning as much as we can about adoption, we have spent time with many people who have experience with all aspects of adoption, and our journey brings us here today.

As excited as we are to become parents, we can only begin to imagine the challenges you are faced with while considering an adoption plan for your child. Thank you for making decisions for your baby out of love, selflessness and courage. Thank you for the gift of life you are giving to your baby, and we hope that along your journey you are at peace and that you will find the right forever family, so your child has everything you dream of for them.

We welcome you and your child into our family with open arms and lots of love. We look forward to providing a loving home and the security you would want for them. We are financially secure and are excited to share our holiday traditions, learn together about new places through travel, provide a solid education and encourage them in all their hopes and dreams. We promise your child will be loved, protected, celebrated and surrounded by many family and friends who will cherish them. They will giggle a lot, receive lots of hugs, and always know how much you love them. They will know everything about you, that you are open to them knowing. We hope, that if you are comfortable, that our relationship will continue to grow, and at the very least, you will always receive continuous updates and photos.

It is our hope that we will bring you peace and comfort by being the most loving and nurturing parents we can be. Thank you for allowing us to share our heart and our story with you.
