Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

We Have So Much Fun Together!

Catherine about Mark: Mark has so many wonderful qualities. He is honest, caring, loving, fun and hardworking. Mark is always willing to help others and will go out of his way to make children smile. He has the most honest laugh that when heard, people cannot help but laugh too. Mark never meets a stranger; he can make friends with anyone, anywhere. I admire his strong faith, his family values and the way he always strives to provide for our family. Mark is respectful of others, has a laidback personality and doesn’t sweat the small stuff. Mark will be the kind of father that every little girl wants and every little boy looks up to.

Mark about Catherine: When Catherine walks into a room, it lights up. People always love to have her around. I love her kind heart, bad jokes, outgoing personality and her contagious smile. I love catching her in the kitchen singing and dancing when she thinks no one is watching. I also love that she goes out of her way to help and make others feel welcome and happy. She is kind, caring and level headed. I admire her strength, her determination and ability to see the good in everyone. I also respect her for her strong faith and ability to find the best in all situations. Catherine is an amazing woman and I know that she will make an amazing mother, too.

How We Met

Laughter is a Big Part of Our Lives

We met through a mutual friend shortly after Catherine moved to TN. Catherine was instantly attracted to Mark’s charm, good looks, honest laugh and sweet Southern accent. Mark also had an instant connection, thought Catherine was pretty, picked on her for not being able to make southern biscuits and loved watching Catherine sing Karaoke. Catherine went back home to upstate NY for a few weeks and decided to move back to NY to be with her family and friends. When Catherine returned to TN to collect her things, Catherine and Mark ran into each other again. We laughed about why he had not called because Mark thought it was the wrong phone number with a NY area code. We went on our first date the next night. The next day, Catherine called her mother and let her know that she would not be returning to NY. We were engaged in about three months and married the next fall. We waited a long time to find each other and truly believe that we were meant to be.

Leisure Time

We have many hobbies that we enjoy doing separately and together. Mark enjoys woodworking and gardening and he loves to fish. If he could, he would fish every day. Being out on the water is a time for him to reflect and enjoy the little things in life. Mark also loves building things. Marks has most recently built an adorable little garden shed for our garden and we cannot wait to put it to great use this summer.Catherine enjoys sewing, making fairy gardens, baking and loves to plan parties, especially birthday parties. There is always something delicious coming out of the oven but the specialty is Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcakes. Catherine also enjoys anything crafty and it is a big hit with all our nieces and nephews. They typically leave with homemade pillows or glitter in their hair.

Many Saturdays in the summer we get up early, grab a coffee to go and hit the open roads to see what kinds of yard sales, antique stores or flea markets we can find. We enjoy finding treasures that we can refinish and make our own. We look forward to showing and teaching a child all of the things we love so much. We also look forward to a whole new set of activities to do with a little one.

Our Extended Families

Catherine & Her Brothers

We are blessed with two great families. They are our support systems. They laugh with us, cry with us and are behind us 100% in everything we do.

Mark & His Siblings

Catherine is originally from upstate New York so we travel back and forth several times throughout the year. Our visits are filled with lot of a love, laughs and snuggles with the kids. Our nieces and nephews always get spoiled when Aunt "Kellie" (Catherine's nickname) and Uncle Mark come to visit. Although we are not always together, we are very close and talk to each other several times each day. When we are not planning a visit to New York, our family is planning a trip to Tennessee. We also have a tradition of occasional visits in Ohio, or "MIO" as we call it. It stands for "Meet Me in Ohio.” We have many fond memories of meeting in the middle and use any excuse we can to spend time together.

Mark's family lives close to us in Tennessee. We get together often for holiday celebrations, birthdays, random weekly dinners, sleepovers with the kids and summer barbecues. Our favorite tradition with our family is at Christmas. It is always a blast to get together and watch all the kids open up all their presents. We always eat a lot, laugh a lot and watch "A Christmas Story" on repeat.

Our families are both so very excited for our adoption plan and cannot wait to share their love with a child.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in a charming home in a family friendly community in Tennessee. Our favorite part of our area is the large park footsteps from our home. The park has a community center, playgrounds, tennis courts, football fields, a walking track, and a splash pad.

Our favorite event is the Halloween Celebration. We love to see hundreds of children enjoying bounce houses, petting zoos, train rides and trick-or-treating. We also love grabbing a cup of hot chocolate and walking to the Annual Christmas Parade. We love being close enough to the city to enjoy all that it has to offer. We like to attend sporting events, concerts, theater and dinner date nights.

Our home is spacious with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Our favorite part of our house is the back porch and yard. The large back yard is fenced and our two dogs love to run around and chase the squirrels.

We are always looking for an excuse to have our family and friends over for barbecues, birthday parties or 4th of July bonfires and s’mores. Mark is always grilling something delicious back there, too! We have a garden where we grow delicious vegetables and flowers in the summer. We cannot wait to experience all the things we love with a child, we look forward to the first time they play in the grass, watching them chase the dogs, having birthday parties and planting their first seeds in the garden and watching them grow.

From Us to You

To say thank you for reading our story just doesn’t seem like enough. We have written and re-written this letter what feels like 100 times. We tried to write from the heart and hope that you can feel this as you read. We cannot begin to know what you are going through but we pray that you will find peace as you navigate this journey. Thank you for having the love, courage and strength to consider adoption for your child.

We have been happily married for seven years. We met each other through a mutual friend and had an instant connection. We knew shortly after dating that we were forever. To say someone is your soul mate sounds cliché but in our case, we feel it is true. Our marriage is strong and our faith in each other is even stronger. We share the same interests and we are both “old souls.” We enjoy the little things in life and try our best to lead by example.

Adoption has been deep in our hearts for a long time. Once married, we immediately began to build our family. For many years we went through numerous fertility treatments and experienced tragic loss again and again. Although our path to get to this point was heartbreaking, we do not regret our decisions. We have grown so much stronger both individually and as a couple. We know that we have what it takes to get through the toughest times. Moving from fertility treatments to adoption has been peaceful for us. This road has brought us to our life’s design to become parents and that adoption is the path we were meant to take. We cannot wait to start our next chapter.

We know that becoming parents will come with so much joy and we are ready for the challenges as well. We cannot wait for the first smile, the first steps, family vacations, Disney movie nights, story time with our favorite Benjamin Bunny Books, breakfasts of pancakes and sprinkles, dance parties in the kitchen, camping under the stars in the backyard and of course, daily snuggles.

We are both so blessed to be very close to our families and have such a fantastic group of friends. The amount of support and love that we receive from all of them is unbelievable. They are always there for us no matter what. We think it is safe to say our family and friends are just as excited as we are to add a child to our family.

We are a kind, honest, fun loving family that fills our days with love and laughter. If you decide to choose us to have the opportunity to raise your child, we promise to show them- above all else- unconditional love. We already have so much love in our hearts for a child that we have not yet met. They will grow up in a happy home with joy every day. Each day that goes by, they will hear how much they are loved. Things that are important to us are our family values, our faith, and enjoying all that life has to offer. We will teach them about different cultures of the world. We hope to be great role models for a child and teach them to always reach for their dreams because we will move the earth to help them achieve whatever their heart desires.

We are committed to being open and honest with a child about adoption. Should you choose, we look forward to developing and maintaining a good relationship with you. We look forward to sharing with your child that they are loved so much by you. We look forward to sharing pictures, letters, calls and stories with you throughout your child’s life. We cannot image the thoughts and emotions that you are trying to process while making these decisions for your child but we admire your strength and we hope that you have peace of mind through these difficult decisions. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us.

With love,

Mark & Catherine
