Kyle & Cassie
Thank you for taking the time to view our profile. We are a fun-loving Christian couple that enjoys spending time together. We are excited to grow our family through adoption and to choose us would mean everything to us. We have been praying for you and hope that you find peace and God's will in this time of your life.
Adoption in Our Lives
Cassie's Story: Adoption is what made me who I am today. My biological father left my mom shortly after I was born. About a year later my mom met Gary and once they got married he adopted me. Since the minute he walked into my life he has accepted, loved and cared me as his own daughter.
My dad instilled confidence in me and provided guidance and still does to this day. Growing up having breakfast together was how we both got our day started and we still have that tradition twice a week. This time each week is special and gives me the opportunity to talk to him about what is going on in my life and learn how is golf game is going.
Growing up I always knew that I was adopted and it was not a secret. I speak with my biological father from time to time and I am still close with my biological father's family. My mom always made an effort to ensure they were a part of my life. I am close to my grandmother, aunts, uncle and cousins. We talk or text several times a month.
I hope that I can use my personal experience to help our child understand adoption and how loved they truly are.
Our Leisure Time
Because we both work full time jobs, time together is a priority. We love sports and take advantage of attending sporting events of all kinds. Our favorites are professional football games (Go Jags!), US Men's Soccer and The Players Championship. We also enjoy cooking together and helping with our church youth group.
We are both into fitness and try to stay healthy. Kyle enjoys lifting weights in our home gym, while Cassie goes for a run or plays tennis. We also enjoy going for hikes near our home or swimming in the pool in our backyard.
Even though we like to live an active life, some of our best days are just hanging out at home. You can usually find Kyle playing video games and Cassie doing some sort of crafting. Movie nights are also a favorite activity, especially when there are movie snacks involved!
We know that our leisure time will change when we have a child, but are ready and excited for the new adventures that are coming our way.
Our Family Traditions
Over the course of our marriage we have created some fun family traditions. Every Sunday night we end the weekend by having Food Network Sunday. This has been a fun way to relax and spend some quality time together before the business of the week begins.
We also have several traditions that revolve around the holidays. For Thanksgiving we enjoy hosting family and friends. Every year for Christmas we like to take a day off work for a "day date" to go and pick out a ornament with the year on it. In the future this day can include visits with Santa! We also bake and decorate cookies.
Another tradition we have is eating dinner with Cassie's parents once a week. Spending quality time with them is important. Life gets busy and it is very important to set aside time with the ones we love just to catch up and laugh.
Family traditions are so important because it creates belonging and security. Cassie remembers as a child sitting down to dinner every night with her parents and Kyle remembers the annual vacations his family took. When we were younger these things did not seem to be a big deal, but looking back they were important times in our lives and helped us grow into the people we are today. We look forward to seeing how our list of family traditions grows as well add to our family.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in Alabama about an hour and a half southwest of Atlanta. We have the convenience of being close to several large cities, but have the room to roam and spend time outside. Our house sits on almost 4 acres and is across from a beautiful lake. Our house is surrounded by woods with so many fun areas to explore and learn about nature. We are also near great schools where we have friends that are teachers. There are also several parks and other family oriented activities nearby.
We recently purchased our home because it is perfect for us to raise our family. It has 4 bedrooms 3.5 baths, a rec room and a pool for lots of summer fun! We love to cook, so we spend a lot of time in the kitchen. We have plenty of room for children to live and play!
Cassie grew up on this street and enjoyed her childhood spending days outside at the lake. We want to offer our child the same peaceful environment. The best feature of our house is that it is within walking distance of Cassie's parent's house!
Our Extended Families
We both come from very tight-knit loving families. Cassie's parents live close by and Kyle's parents and siblings live in Nebraska.
Kyle has an older brother and sister. Like Kyle's parents his brother and sister live in Nebraska. Kyle's sister has three sons that range in age from 8 to 15. We make frequent visits to Nebraska or take family vacations together. Even though we are not close in proximity to them, we stay very involved in their lives and activities. Our nephews are ready for a baby cousin!
Cassie is an only child who grew up in Alabama. Her parents both still live in the area and we spend time with them on a regular basis. Cassie has several cousins that she is close to and are like her sibling.
Our families are very excited for us in our adoption journey and know how much it would mean to us to add a child to our family.
From Us to You
We are Kyle and Cassie and we are so grateful you have taken the time to get to know us. We understand this is a very difficult decision, and we have an enormous amount of respect for you and admire your strength and courage during this entire process.
We met in Nebraska in 2003 at church. We had both moved to the city for our first jobs after college. Shortly after we started dating we knew that we were going to get married and did in 2006. Our relationship is built on faith, love, trust and laughter.
We enjoy spending time together whether it be at home or in the company of friends and family. We like to travel, go to sporting events and visit amusement parks. During the week you can find us working out, watching TV or eating at our favorite restaurants. We cannot wait to add a child into our lives to share these experiences. Also, we are excited to trying new things and explore life through the eyes of a child.
A few years into our marriage we wanted to start growing our family. After trying for several years and visiting with a fertility specialist we were told that we had undetermined infertility and the likelihood of us having a biological child would be difficult. After much prayer, it was clear to us that adoption was how we were going to start our family.
We both grew up in loving Christian homes and that is the environment we want to raise a child in. We both had great examples of how a parent should love a child and we look forward to passing that on to our own child. We want them to feel secure and know they are loved beyond measure.
We know the importance of family and believe in open honest communication. It is important to know who you are and where you come from. We are committed to having you involved as much as you are comfortable with. We will share any information that you provide to us and we will share pictures, email updates, stories as well as letters with keepsakes that mark milestones in your child's life. We are also open to making arrangements for visits when the time is right. You are significant to us and will always be.
We imagine the decision you are making for your child is not one that you have taken lightly or without a lot of thought. We want you to know our decision to grow our family and become parents is not one we have taken lightly either. We know that parenting is not always easy, but expect it to be the most rewarding thing we will do in our lifetime. We want you to know we will give your child all the love we have and provide positive influence to them throughout their entire life.
Again, we thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We have been praying for you and that you find peace in the decision you make.
