Joe & Caroline
We are so excited to grow our family through adoption! We are a compassionate and fun loving couple with so much love to share. Adopting our son has been the biggest blessing in our lives and we look forward to completing our family with another child. Thank you for taking the time to consider us as adoptive parents.
Adoption in Our Lives
Before our journey to adopt our son Anthony, we could only imagine what adoption was like and what journey lay before us. We can say with certainty now that adoption is one of the greatest gifts in life and we are filled with gratitude and respect for Anthony’s birth parents, who will forever hold a very special place in our hearts. We look forward to sending them pictures and updates on how well he is doing, and every day when we see his happy smiling face we are reminded of the great sacrifice they made for him. From the moment he was placed in our arms, we fell in love and from that moment on he has been the greatest blessing in our lives!
Anthony has changed our lives forever for the better, and is loved not only by us, but our extended family as well. He has grandparents that are always visiting to snuggle and spoil him, and cousins that love to play with him, and they all are eager for another baby to love on. We feel very lucky to have him in our lives, and are excited for another journey to bring a new blessing into our world, as we feel that our family is not yet complete. We know that Anthony will be an amazing big brother, eager to share in whatever adventures lie ahead!
Our Cultural Heritage
Joe's parents are both Italian. When Joe was 14 he and his father went to Italy for vacation where Joe got to meet his extended family and see where his father grew up. His grandparents and all of the aunts, uncles, and cousins would gather daily for large Italian meals. Joe spent time on the family farm learning how to milk cows, harvest fruit trees, and how cheese was made. It is one of the greatest memories of his childhood.
Caroline's family is Greek, her mother was born in Greece and came to the US when she was just 5 years old. Growing up, her grandparents spoke mostly Greek and Caroline herself was fluent in Greek, not learning English until she was 4 years old. The movie "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" has many similarities to Caroline's extended family including roasting a lamb on Easter and the large family gatherings.
Our daily life is a constant reminder of our heritage and we hope to share that with our children. Our dream family vacation is to visit both Greece and Italy someday, and to explore these places that are special to our families. We’d love to travel other parts of the world as well, and ensure our children grow up with an appreciation of their heritage, wherever that may lead us to!
Education We will Provide
We value the importance of a good education and giving our child the best possible education is a priority to us. We are fortunate to live in a top rated school district. The elementary school is within walking distance to our home and the bus stop is in front of our house. Although these are wonderful schools, we would not be opposed to a private education if it was the best opportunity for our child.
Besides the education provided in school, we believe parents play a vital role in their child's upbringing. With a background in education, Caroline has experience in teaching children and plans to spend time with our children, helping them learn and teaching them new things, especially in the pre-school years.
It is important to us to provide a college education for our children as well. Although college is important, we realize it is not the path everyone takes in life. We both have an entrepreneurial spirit and we intend to support our children in any career decision they choose.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a suburb about 25 miles from a large city. The city has a lot to offer families including a fantastic zoo, museums, theaters, amusement parks and major sports teams.
Our home is within walking distance to local parks and is in a top-rated school district. We live on a cul-de-sac where children of all ages play in the circle. With four bedrooms and a finished lower level, we have plenty of room for children to live and play! What attracted us to this house was the amazing backyard patio. We love entertaining both family and friends and our backyard is the perfect place for BBQs, roasting marshmallows on the fire pit, or playing in the yard.
One of the reasons we chose this home was because it would be a great place to raise a family. It's exactly the type of neighborhood we would have wanted to live in as kids. We have a large subdivision swimming pool where many families spend their summers. The subdivision has a small fishing pond, annual 4th of July parties, Easter egg hunts, and lots of kids are out trick-or-treating on Halloween.
Our Extended Families
We both come from tight-knit loving families that live close by and we are fortunate to see them often. We spend a lot of time celebrating birthdays, holidays, or just getting together for Sunday dinners. Our parents' favorite pastime is spending time with their grandchildren. They are always available to babysit or have sleep-overs and are looking forward to adding another grandchild through adoption.
Caroline's family has strong ties to their Greek church and the community within it. She and her parents are very involved with various organizations and a lot of their social activities are organized through their church. Growing up she and her brother attended classes to learn the Greek language, Sunday school, and were in the Greek dance group. Her brother is married and they have three wonderful kids.
Joe's sister is married with four adorable children who love sports and outdoor activities. One of our favorite traditions is seeing the kids perform in their annual church Christmas play that ends with the traditional snow ball fight (made of socks!). Family gatherings are full of laughter and play time. Joe and his brother love throwing the baseball or kicking the soccer ball with their nieces and nephews in Grandma and Grandpa's backyard. Our nieces and nephews cannot wait to have another cousin!
From Us to You
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us and the life we would provide for your child. We are extremely grateful to be considered as adoptive parents. Being parents has been our greatest wish in life and we hope that getting to know us will help provide you peace of mind in making this decision. We have so much admiration for your bravery and love for this child.
Before we adopted our son, we could only imagine what it would be like to adopt, how our families would react, and how we would feel. Now we can speak from experience and with confidence about our love for our child and the incredible bond we feel with his birth parents. We can say with certainty that this child will be surrounded by so much love and family. Our son is absolutely cherished and this baby will be too.
We look forward to sharing our children’s birth stories with them; it is such a huge part of our story as a family. Adoption is an extraordinary journey and we look forward to experiencing it again to complete our family. We always knew we wanted to be parents and after struggling with infertility we have come to realize that adoption is what was meant to be for us. We are so excited and hopeful to see what life has in store. This journey has brought us closer together, strengthened our love for each other, and made us appreciate the great privilege of being parents.
The amount of love and support we have received from our friends and family from the moment we told them about our decision to adopt has been overwhelming. They say it takes a village to raise a child and our own little village cannot wait for us to bring home another baby. We are going to love this child as our own and they will be welcomed by our families as well. This child will grow up with the love of grandparents, aunts, uncles and lots of cousins to play with!
As parents we will support our children in any endeavor and provide them every opportunity in life. We will raise them in terrific schools, enjoy traveling as a family, and teach them to be kind, honest and trustworthy. We value time together more than anything and our family time consists of playing in the park, eating out at restaurants, summer outdoor concerts, sporting events, and entertaining in our home. We look forward to the interaction and sibling bond between our son, Anthony and his little brother or sister and plan to raise them with the encouragement and support to fulfill their dreams.
Adoption is the most precious gift and something we take with great responsibility and humbleness. We admire you for having the love, courage and selflessness to give your child the very best. Our goal in life is to be worthy of this great blessing. Your child will know their birth story from the beginning and know how lucky they are to be loved by so many people. We want you to feel confident knowing that you made the right decision, and through photos, letters and emails, see that this child is living a happy, healthy and abundant life.
You will always hold a very special place in our hearts and as part of our family. We look forward to meeting you and hearing your hopes and dreams for this child. We promise to love them and give them a wonderful life!
