Our Child

Being Silly

A few years ago we were fortunate to be chosen by a wonderful woman to parent a baby girl. She is the greatest gift we have ever received. She is happy, healthy, stubborn, and will give you the most hilarious stink-eye when she disagrees with you. She loves reading books and playing outside, especially if there are bubbles involved. She loves to laugh and horse around with Jason, and likes to curl up with a good book on Courtney's lap, or sing songs. She loves the water and this past summer she had her first swimming lessons, in which she did great!

She loves to interact with other children, and is very gentle with younger children and babies. She has a baby doll that she carries around, and strokes her hair and says "my baby." She loves dancing to music and jumping around, so we are getting ready to enroll her in a "Tot Tumbling" class and can't wait to see how she does.

Family Traditions

Courtney with Jason's Aunts

Our family traditions are a mix from both of our respective families we came from. Every year during the summer Courtney’s entire family meets at her parents lake house. These are times filled with boating, tubing, swimming, home cooked meals and card games and board games.

Jason’s family all reside in the city where we live so we are always attending holiday parties, birthdays and barbecues with Jason’s large extended family. Large family activities revolve around summer volleyball at picnics and bowling during Christmas gatherings. Family, friends, food, and laughter are always present at these events and a true family atmosphere prevails.

Leisure Time

Ready for Swim Lessons!

We are an active couple who enjoys many different interests. Courtney enjoys playing in a couple leagues for volleyball and softball, and Jason likes to do trail running. Some of our favorite activities include running, hiking, gardening, camping, going to sporting events and taking trips to Courtney’s parents’ lake house. Exercise and leading a healthy lifestyle is important to us so we are usually running in races in and around our city and take our dogs to the park for leisurely walks. During the warmer months you’ll find us camping in the mountains somewhere, traveling to the lake to see family and friends, and grilling and entertaining on our deck. Down time frequently has Jason playing guitar and Courtney trying a new recipe to cook.

Our Extended Families

At the Lake with Courtney's Family

Jason’s family lives close by and we get together with them frequently. His mother’s side is large and has family gatherings often, especially around holidays and major events like birthdays and anniversaries. Everyone grew up together and is close and supportive of each other. During the summer we gather at his aunt & uncle’s home and swim, play volleyball in their backyard, or sit on the deck and visit. During the holidays, we visit while the kids play games downstairs. We also have an annual holiday ornament exchange and usually one miscellaneous themed gift exchange (like books, or As Seen on TV gifts). No matter the occasion there is always lots of food!

With Jason's Extended Family at a Picnic

Courtney’s family used to be all over the country but within the last few years they have moved closer and now all are within a 4 hour drive. Her parents have a lake house a few hours away and we like to spend time with her family there. We like to play games like Scrabble, Skip-Bo or Golf, and spend a lot of time out on the boat, skiing, tubing, and wakeboarding.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our House

We moved last year and have lived in our new house for about a year and a half. Our house has 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. It is a two-story house with a living room and kitchen on the main floor and all the bedrooms upstairs. We spend most of our time on our main floor or outside on the patio.

Our neighborhood is a newer neighborhood that is a mix of older neighbors but also some younger neighbors with families. The city we live in has a lot of great community and family friendly events and also has two great pools with slides and other fun toys. The neighborhood has access to a great walking/running/biking trail, and also has a neighborhood pool and playground. Nearby is one of the largest parks in our metropolitan area - it has a big lake, walking trails, a dog park, baseball and soccer fields, and they often have various community events and activities; and put on plays during the summer.

From Us to You

Hey there! We are Jason and Courtney and we are really honored that you are looking at our profile and hopefully considering us. We can’t imagine how hard this process is for you. We just want you to know that a child that we adopt will be loved so much, and raised in a home full of laughter, fun, and filled with great experiences.

We met in 2002 and got married in 2005 on a wonderful fall day, surrounded by friends and family. It was so much fun. For the first few years after we got married we just enjoyed our life together - we bought a fixer-upper house, traveled quite a bit, and then decided to settle down and start a family. That proved to be pretty difficult. We tried fertility treatments for a number of years and then after many disappointments and much heartbreak, decided that it was more important for us to be parents than to actually go through a pregnancy. We realized that dream in late 2015 when a baby girl was born and we were chosen to parent her. It's been the greatest honor of our lives, and such an adventure!

We enjoy taking yearly trips to the beach and the mountains - we try to go to one or the other every year. When we go to the mountains we enjoy setting up our camp site, relaxing, and hiking for a few days out in the wilderness. Jason went to school in Montana and will always have a passion for the outdoors. And even though the mountains are his first love, he also enjoys visiting the Florida panhandle beaches with Courtney. While there, we like to swim, go paddle-boarding, and read on the beach.

While we have enjoyed ourselves and been fortunate enough to travel and pursue some of the things we love, this has been a product of hard work. Both of us grew up having to work and set goals for ourselves. We worked our way through college and careers, and any child that we adopt would have this principle value among many others. Education, creativity, and pursuit of bettering one’s self is something that would be encouraged in our home, and we are in close proximity to some of the best schools in our city.

We have a large extended family that shares holidays and special events, and these friends and family are excited to welcome any child into our lives. Some of the most important things to us are our family and the special moments we share with them. We have a four bedroom home with a large fenced backyard for a child to run and play and share with us and our dogs. Our home is where we entertain and welcome family and friends to enjoy each other’s company.

We believe that adoption is a gift of love and takes a lot of courage. We have a deep respect and admiration for the loving consideration of your choice for adoption. We feel that a child is one of life’s greatest blessings and are committed to sharing the birth story with the child from the beginning. We would very much like the opportunity to stay in contact with you. It is important to us that you know your child is loved and well cared for. We hope to share life’s joys and milestones through the years with you.

Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and considering us for a potential fit for your child. As you consider your options we wish you the best in your decision.
