Todd & Rosalind
We believe that life is an adventure and for us, a big missing part of that adventure is having a child to share our love of life with. We are excited about the prospect of bringing a child into our lives. Thank you for taking the time to read our profile and learn more about us. We admire your willingness to take this journey and wish you the very best throughout.
Education We Will Provide
Education is one of the most important aspects of our lives. As teachers we feel strongly about helping children learn and to find their passion. We dream of helping our child to learn and grow, to this end we will help them pursue the best education possible. With our background, we have a lot of tools that can help support our child as they experience the challenges of school.
We are fortunate to live in a community that values education and supports great public schools with excellent teachers. Our community has many excellent options for children who do not thrive in public school, including Montessori, Waldorf and several private schools. In addition to the traditional subjects, we will also support our child in exploring music, arts, outdoor recreation or sports.
We also feel it is important for our child's education to continue after high school whether it is in a traditional college setting, a vocational school or something else, and we have already begun saving to help our child pursue whatever dream they have.
Our Leisure Time
We are an active couple that has a lot of fun together! Outdoor activities are one of our favorite things to do as a family. Whether it is backpacking into the wilderness or walking on the beach, we love to explore our natural world. Sharing this with a child is something that we look forward to tremendously.
Sports, both team and personal, is another aspect of our lives that we will enjoy sharing with a child. Todd has a great love for playing hockey and has fond memories of being part of several teams in his youth. Rosalind likes the individual challenge of running, and being out on the trails.
At home, we enjoy playing games as a family. One of our favorites is Rummikub, and when we have large groups we love to play Scattagories. Rosalind likes to have quiet time to pursue crafts, and enjoys knitting, drawing, painting, sewing and woodwork. Cooking and baking are two other activities that Rosalind loves. She has made many birthday cakes for family and friends over the years and she cannot wait to make one for our own child!
Our Family Traditions
Waking up in the woods to the crisp silence of a New Year is one of our favorite family traditions. With our love of the outdoors, it seems only natural that we start the year of with camping or hiking. Halloween is one of our favorite holidays. Carving pumpkins and dressing up to handout candy is something that we are looking forward to every year, and cannot wait to share with a child of our own. Todd loves Thanksgiving, and Rosalind enjoys preparing all the food and making her delicious cinnamon rolls to start the day. We have a yearly tradition of traveling somewhere to meet Todd's extended family. Every year the gathering is a little different, some years we explore a new city, or go to a national park, and some years we just find nice place to stay together. These gatherings are something that we cherish and have many great memories from.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a wonderful historic neighborhood in Washington state. Our neighborhood is kid friendly and full of families. Several times a year, our community has get togethers, including a summer party at the community garden. These are great outdoor events filled with music, food, games and families having fun.
We live in a three story craftsman style house, situated on a corner lot with a fully fenced backyard. It has five bedrooms and two full bathrooms, as well as two large living spaces. We have the basement set up as an entertainment area where we watch movies, play board games and listen to music. Our backyard has a large playhouse and lots of open space for playing. Most of the year the yard is full of blooming flowers, fruit trees and vegetables.
One of our favorite things about our house is how easily we can get to places. We have four parks, all with playgrounds, and multiple trails just a short walk from our house. The community recreation center with an ice rink, swimming pools and playing fields is right down the street. Downtown is a 15-minute walk, which makes attending the farmer's market, the summer concert series and events at the children's museum very easy for us.
Our Extended Families
We both have loving and supportive families who are eager to help us welcome a child into our lives. Every year we meet Todd's family somewhere new and exciting. Most recently we traveled to Whistler, British Columbia, where we camped for a week and enjoyed many activities, including rafting, zip lining, hiking, and game nights. Rosalind's family likes to gather together for family cookouts and extended matches of Scrabble. Her brother has three young children and we all look forward to raising our children together so that they have the joy of cousin relationships.
Todd takes a yearly trip with a group of friends that he grew up with, and they are very much considered part of our family, We love to incorporate visits to their families when we travel.
Both of our families have traditions that we look forward to including into a child's life. Rosalind grew up having a huge family Easter egg hunt that includes all of the cousins gathering at her grandmother's house. Todd's extended family gathers at his parents' house to celebrate holidays with a huge meal and game marathons.
Our family and friends are not only supportive of us adopting, they are very excited. They have been with us throughout our journey and they know how much we would love a child.
From Us to You
First, we would like to thank you for considering adoption. We hope that you find the perfect match and that you have a positive and loving journey. Thank you for taking the time to view our profile and for getting to know us a little better. We are excited to begin the journey of parenthood. We will give any child that we adopt a home full of love and support. We will also do everything in our power to make sure that our child has a happy, healthy and fulfilling life.
We are Todd and Rosalind. We have been married for 15 years, and together for almost 20. From the very beginning of our relationship we have been a committed and balanced couple. We are partners in life, partners on the trail, partners in travel and sometimes even partners in the classroom. Being partners in parenting is something that we have wanted for several years and we are excited for.
In many ways, being teachers has given us a glimpse at parenting. We have seen first-hand how a loving, nurturing home can help a child to overcome almost any obstacle. We love our students, and every day we give our all to ensure that they learn, grow and succeed. We long to provide this level of love and support to a child of our own.
When we talk about the life we want for our child, it is filled with love, support, family, travel and adventure. We want them to have every opportunity to embrace the wonders of life. From our family and friends to our community, we have a strong support system that will allow us to give a child the best possible life that we can. They will have loving grandparents, involved aunts and uncles, and several young cousins to share their life with.
A few years ago we relocated to Western Washington to a family friendly town with lots of activities for children of all ages. The decision to move was centered around what would be best for raising a child and providing them with a full and well-rounded life. Our new town offers great educational opportunities, lots of outdoor activities and many family supports. Our child will have plenty of options and activities to participate in, no matter what their area of interest is. We also love that we live in a diverse and accepting community with lots of young families.
Our relationship with our child's birth family is extremely important and we want to have a positive and loving connection. Our dreams of a family would not be possible without you. We look forward to building a relationship that will help us provide the best support for a child. We promise to send letters and photographs on a regular basis if that is something that you would like. We could be open to a greater amount of contact as we get to know you. Thank you again for considering us as parents for your child.
