Why We Chose Adoption

Holiday Family Traditions

Adoption is something that we have thought about for quite some time. We both always wanted a big family but like many couples, we never realized how difficult it can be having children. About six years ago, Jenna went into preterm labor at 22 weeks with our first child. Our son was born a week later, but unfortunately he was too small to survive. After several years of tests and trying with no medical reason or explanation for what happened, we were blessed with a beautiful, healthy baby girl. Watching our daughter grow has been an incredible experience and it wasn't long before we wanted to expand our family. Because of our history, we met with our doctor as we began planning for our next child and found that another pregnancy would be too risky to chance. Upon hearing this, we immediately thought of adoption. Even before we were married, we had discussed the possibility of one day adopting and this news made us feel that it was meant to be. We realized that there were other ways to grow our family and adoption is the perfect way to share all the love we have to give. We are so excited to begin this journey!

Leisure Time

Phillies Game with Best Friends

We love spending our leisure time together as a family! Back in high school, we started a tradition of planning surprise dates for one another. We especially love to travel to different vacation spots. One of Jenna's surprises for Ryan for our five year anniversary was a trip to Ireland to explore his Irish background! We would love to take our children back there someday! We also love to travel with our friends who are like family to us. We have taken trips to California, the beach and the Finger Lakes and can't wait to plan vacations with all of our friends and our children as they grow. At night we look forward to cooking as a family, walking our dog Bailey around the neighborhood, playing on the playground and all cuddling in our bed before bedtime. On the weekends we love to host friends for game nights, take our daughter to the local farm to feed animals, play at her favorite museum, attend community festivals and go to our favorite breakfast spot. Jenna enjoys any activity where she can use her creative side, planning fundraising events, or volunteering. Ryan loves to grill, golf with friends and watch every Philadelphia sports team as well as cheer on our alma mater, Penn State! Our family is all about creating memories and enjoying every opportunity to have fun with family and friends. We can't wait to share all of the fun activities we do with another little one!

How We Met

Dinner Date in the City

We met each other 17 years ago when we were both in high school. We went to different schools, but we ended up working at the same restaurant. Anyone who knows Ryan has heard the story many times. His cousin had recently gotten him a job at a restaurant and he was walking in for the Sunday dinner shift just as Jenna was leaving from training. She smiled and said hi as she passed and to this day, Ryan still can't remember if he was able to mumble a response. He rushed in to find his cousin and unsuccessfully tried to hide his excitement as he asked who the girl was that had just left, but it was obvious he was hooked. Even though it was several months before he finally asked her out, Ryan has always said he knew she was the one from the moment he saw that smile. Of course we were picked on quite a bit over the next few years and the family that owns the restaurant would always joke that we had them to thank for finding each other. Back then we would laugh about it, but turns out they were right. We still love to go back there to see them and have dinner at "our table."

Our Extended Families

Jenna's Family

We both feel very fortunate to have such close and loving families! With both Jenna's and Ryan's families living nearby, we get together frequently. We like to plan family dinners and take turns hosting. Holidays are a special time with our parents, Ryan and Jenna's sisters' families and so many extended family members and friends in the area. Ryan's mom and sister love baking Christmas cookies and we are very excited that our daughter, Abby, and your child can be a part of that tradition. Jenna's parents love sleepovers with Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop and taking her to the farm down the street to see the horses and cows.

Ryan's Family

We are also lucky to be able to consider our friends and neighbors as family. We have stayed close with a number of friends from high school and college and as our families have grown, our children see each other often and will have lifelong friends like we do. One of our favorite traditions is our neighborhood Christmas party. We each pick a theme with food and a game and travel from house to house.

Everyone is so excited and supportive of our decision to grow our family through adoption. They cannot wait to welcome a new child and look forward to creating many new memories. Our daughter and puppy, Bailey, are especially excited to meet their new brother or sister!

Our House and Neighborhood

We Love Our Home!

We bought our first home seven years ago and couldn't be happier with our choice! There's always excitement on the first floor of our house! Abby loves chasing Bailey, throwing her a ball and taking part in cooking meals. On our second floor, Abby gets excited about helping with wash and our nightly bedtime routine of snuggling in mom and dad's bed before bedtime. Ryan recently finished the basement and it's become our favorite room in the house. It's the perfect place to watch movies, play with toys and watch Abby jump on her small trampoline. We love to entertain and the basement and open first floor plan are ideal for having our friends and family over.

Our neighborhood is a newer development that is filled with young, growing families just like us! There are walking trails throughout the neighborhood with playgrounds and open spaces for kids to play. We share a common patio with our neighbors and enjoy warm, summer days and cool, fall nights out there grilling with all of the families. With just an hour drive to Philadelphia and ten minutes from a smaller downtown area, we are able to take advantage of theme parks, zoos, swimming pools, museums, shopping and great restaurants, but still enjoy a more rural community with wonderful neighbors. Our home is just ten minutes away from a local lake and farm, where we visit frequently to go on family walks and pick fruit. We love our community!

From Us to You

Hello! Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know our family a little more. We greatly respect your courage in considering adoption for your child and we truly admire all the strength and love you must have as you determine the best future for yourself and your child. We are so excited about the opportunity to grow our family and we can’t wait to provide a child with a loving home and big sister.

We met at a local Italian restaurant when we were 15 and have been together for over half of our lives and pretty much grew up together. After 9 ½ years dating and 8 years married, we can definitely say that we share all of our goals and dreams. We value commitment, communication, trust, patience, love, faith, fun and lots of laughter. There isn’t anything in this world we can’t handle, as long as we’re together. We truly approach our marriage with love and friendship. We are a team and enjoy sharing both exciting and ordinary times together.

Even as high school sweethearts, we used to talk about how much we wanted a big family. Growing our family has been difficult for us. After losing our first child, we were blessed with our daughter. Being parents to Abby has given us more joy than we ever could have imagined and is above all, the most important job either of us has ever had. We enjoy spending time together making memories and love planning gatherings for our family and friends. Whether it is baking together, taking our dog for a walk, snuggling up with our favorite books at bedtime, celebrating all of the “firsts,” or planning family vacations, we are very excited for the future of sharing our love with another child.

Jenna is a former elementary school teacher and is still an educator at heart! She connects with children, gets down to their level and truly loves watching them explore and discover all that life has to offer. She has a flexible schedule and enjoys taking Abby to the local museum, Little Gym classes, play dates with friends and baking together. Ryan is a structural engineer for a home builder and really enjoys his job. Ryan is a child at heart and enjoys playing games with Abby, cheering on his favorite teams and playing golf. Family time is most important to both of us and we take advantage of every opportunity to create memories together.

Please trust that we will be open and honest about sharing your child’s adoption story. We will admire and honor you, and your child will always know that your decision was made out of love and strength. We would like to learn more about you and your desires for your child, and we will happily share letters, pictures, and emails as your child grows and experiences life.

We promise to provide your child with a safe, laughter-filled, loving home. We promise to support your child’s dreams and help him or her reach for the stars. We promise that your child will know that he or she is loved to the moon and back by all of us. We promise to be understanding, compassionate and honest parents. We promise to always find laughter in life and always get back up when we get put down. We promise to always kiss goodnight and enjoy our traditional cuddling time. We promise to live life with integrity and character, setting a worthy example for our child. We promise to share in the responsibility of creating our child's future. We promise to provide every opportunity to explore the world and never lack confidence to try new things. We promise to model the importance of family and teamwork. We promise to create traditions with family and friends that our child will love to repeat. Finally, we promise to love our child unconditionally and celebrate him or her every day!

Thank you for taking the time to consider us as potential parents. We know what a miracle each life is and adopting a child would mean the world to us.

Wishing you much love and peace,

Ryan & Jenna
