Joshua & Taylor
Adoption has been on our hearts since early in our relationship, and we cannot wait to grow our family through adoption. We are so grateful that you are taking the time to read our profile. We believe that adoption is a blessing for everyone involved. We want so desperately to bring a precious baby into our family, and we hope that you will consider us as you move forward in this journey.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other
From Taylor: I am excited beyond measure to see Joshua as a father. I know that many of the traits I love about him as a husband will translate to him being a wonderful father. Above all, Joshua is a caretaker. He works hard to ensure that I have everything I need. Joshua is thoughtful, always going out of his way to make sure I know he's thinking about me, like leaving sweet notes around the house, baking my favorite desserts, even when I don't ask, or keeping up with household chores. He tells me he loves me every day when he wakes up and before he goes to sleep every night. He has a respect and love for the outdoors that I cannot wait to see him cultivate in our future children. He is always excited to learn new things and is just as excited to share those new findings with me. He is a Godly man who is always willing to help others.
From Joshua: I cannot wait for Taylor to be a mother because she will be a great one! Taylor has a wonderfully loving heart and is great with kids. She is extremely patient and is easily relatable with people. She has an uncanny ability to sympathize and empathize with individuals, identifying areas of need to help and assist. She is extremely loyal, hard-working, intelligent and her Christian faith is evident in everything she does. Another quality I fell in love with immediately was her sense of humor - she loves to laugh and have fun which is infectious. Being around Taylor just makes a person feel good and in truth makes everything better.
Our Leisure Time
Our favorite thing to do is spend time with each other and we cannot wait to introduce a child to some of our favorite activities.
In the warmer months we enjoy a lot of outdoor activities. Where we live we have ample access to hiking trails. Hiking is even more fun when we can bring the dogs along. We get a kick out of seeing them climb up on rocks and wade around in streams.
We also enjoy bird watching. Josh has enjoyed this activity since he was a child, and Taylor is learning a lot from him. Finally seeing a new species after looking for quite some time is such a thrill!
In the winter we enjoy taking weekend trips to go skiing. We love to explore the trails at new places. No matter where we go, there is always an instructor with a group of adorable children learning to ski, and we've often talked about introducing a love of this sport to our future children at an early age.
Though we have a lot of outdoor activities that we enjoy, we also enjoy cuddling up to watch TV. We especially enjoy watching football and basketball together. We have a lot of passion and enthusiasm for the teams we like, and hope to watch our future child grow into a fan of our favorite teams.
Though we both come from Caucasian families we are open to adopting a child of any race. Though we do not yet know what race our future child will be, we plan to give our child as much insight into the culture of their birth family as they are open to. We will encourage and help them to research their cultural history, and take them to any culturally specific events in our area that we can find. We both love to travel. When traveling, we try to learn as much as we can about the history and culture of the place we are exploring before we get there, and then we immerse ourselves in that culture while we are there. Much in the same way that we learn about other cultures prior to our travels, we will approach learning about this child's culture with the same vigor and excitement, so that we can better help him or her understand their background.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood in Wyoming. Our four bedroom, three bathroom house is only two blocks from a beautiful park, complete with swings and slides, and there is an excellent elementary school just beyond the park. Though quiet, there are always children out and about around the neighborhood. We also have a spacious, fenced-in back yard providing another safe place for play.
We live in a small city that is most famous for its yearly huge outdoor rodeo known as Frontier Days. In addition to the rodeo, the week and a half of Frontier Days provides numerous activities for children including parades, a carnival, and a massive pancake breakfast where so many people are served that they mix the pancake batter in a giant cement mixer!
Though we live in a city, we are close to numerous outdoor activities. In the summer we only have to drive just outside the city to get to fantastic spots for hiking and camping which the dogs love to join in on. In the winter, we spend our weekends skiing whenever possible, and there are several ski resorts close by. We're excited for this child to experience these things with us.
Our Extended Families
Even though our families do not live near us, we are very close. Whether it is a phone call on the way home from work or a picture of a funny thing they saw that day, we talk to our mothers almost every day.
Each year our mother's come to visit us for Christmas. We are so blessed to have wonderful mothers who love us and get along with each other so well! We save our favorite Christmas traditions for their visit, such as baking and icing homemade sugar cookies. Every year we attend the Christmas Eve candle light service together at our church, and afterward drive around town looking at all the Christmas lights. Taylor's mother also enjoys coming out every summer to see the large rodeo in town. Our mother's are SO excited to have a grandchild. They are giddy with excitement for us to adopt a child and have already started shopping for their future grandchild.
We take every opportunity to visit extended family in our home states, West Virginia and North Carolina. We both come from relatively small, close-knit families who make every effort to see us when we can visit. We are both very close to our mother's sisters and their families as well. It isn't a visit home if we don't see our aunts and cousins. They are all overjoyed with our decision to adopt. This child is already so loved by this family.
From Us to You
Thank you for taking a closer look into our lives. We admire the love you have for your baby and respect the strength you have for considering adoption. While we cannot imagine the decisions you are faced with right now, we would be honored to be considered as a family for your child. We hope this letter will provide insight into what your baby's life would be like with our family. With this glimpse into our lives, we hope to reassure you that we will provide a nurturing, loving, stable family for your baby.
Hello! We are Taylor and Joshua. Taylor is a small animal vet at a clinic located in our town. Joshua provides veterinary and management care for pigs across several different states. We are both animal lovers, which brought us to this profession and allowed us to meet! We met at a game night at Taylor's house during the beginning of veterinary school. Joshua has always said it was love at first sight the minute Taylor opened the door. In fact, this doorstep is where he proposed, decorated with dozens of roses and Christmas lights, because it was the first place he knew he loved Taylor. We have now been married for 4.5 years and counting. Our compatibility in our thoughts and values, the consideration we take for one another, and keeping our marriage rooted in Christ has kept our marriage strong. We love to make each other laugh, and Josh will frequently pull Taylor close to start dancing when a song we like comes on, even if it's in the middle of the grocery store! We love our life together and would love to share all of the love we have with a child.
Although we do not yet have children, we have several "fur kids" who we cannot wait to introduce to our first child. There are three dachshunds, Boomer, Charlotte, and Duncan, a yellow lab, Jackson, and two cats, Mojo and Sherman. We spend a lot of our free time with the fur kids. The dogs enjoy going for walks around the neighborhood or hiking at one of the many state or national parks nearby. They love to play with toys and even Sherman, the cat, loves to play fetch! Their favorite activity is snuggling on the couch with us. We joke in our house that you always have to check under blankets before sitting down because the dachshunds burrow and curl themselves up in the blankets when there isn't a lap to sit on.
When not spending time with our pets, our favorite thing to do is travel. We love to explore new places in the U.S. and abroad. We plan to travel with our child(ren) as much as possible, immersing them in different cultures and experiences throughout their lives. Education is very important to us, and there is no better way to learn about history, art, architecture, and different cultures than visiting new places.
Another hobby we hope to teach our child(ren) is bird watching. Joshua grew up learning new species of birds peering out his kitchen window with his mom. Joshua cultivated a love of bird watching in Taylor from early days of their relationship. It's so exciting seeing a new bird for the first time to put on our life list. We'll never forget driving 2 hours out of town just to see one of these "life list" birds, a scissor-tailed flycatcher. We were about to leave thinking we wouldn't find it when it popped out of the woods and onto a power line. We were so excited!
Thank you again for taking the time to read our profile. We hope you've learned a lot about us. We plan to be very open with your child about how they became part of our family. We will stress the love and courage it took for you to make this life possible for them and for us. We would like to have open communications with you as much as you are comfortable during the process and after the adoption is finalized. We will absolutely be sending you letters and pictures, but would love to exchange emails, have video calls, or even visits with you in the future if you would like. We know this is a difficult decision for you and we want to ease as much stress surrounding the process for you as we can. We have so much love to give and we would be forever grateful if you chose us as the family for your child.
