Our Leisure Time

Vacation in Rio de Janeiro

We love to travel (both domestically and internationally). We travel every other year between Peru and Brazil to visit our families. We are beach lovers so we visit our family in Orlando a lot, too. Our weekends are often spent entertaining friends and family in our home with a BBQ. We are fortunate and blessed to have many close friends who are also considered family. Many of our friends have children so they are looking forward to another child being around to play with.

We can't wait to have a little one to share our lives with and look forward to incorporating into all of the fun things we love to do! We both love soccer and watch games on TV and also locally. We both enjoy volleyball and play on occasion. We follow Cardinals baseball and sometimes attend the games in person. We enjoy going to the zoo, Grant's Farm, the Arch, and the butterfly house. It will be so much fun introducing a child to these activities!

How We Met

About ten years ago, Patricia was at her sister's house watching a World Cup soccer game and saw Marcio there. We were introduced but never really talked to each other much. Patricia did not even speak to Marcio, except to say hello for the next few years. The Latin community in our city is rather small, so we often ran into each other. Over the years, we would say hello to each other at various events, but simply remained acquaintances. One night, Patricia went to meet a girlfriend at a salsa dance club and the girlfriend did not show up, but Marcio was there. Once again, we met, but this time we danced all night together. Three days later, we went on our first date and three months later, we were married. The rest is history.

What Makes Us Unique

Dressed Up for a Brazilian Festival

We have a wonderful blend of Peruvian and Brazilian culture in our backgrounds, but also we have added our American heritage to our lives. While there are differences in Peruvian and Brazilian cultures, there are many similarities. The importance of family, our religion, love for similar foods and music are all touchstones we share. While this is based in how we grew up, we continue to blend our cultural background with our American lives. We feel as though our chance to come to America is like winning the lottery. We appreciate all that America has to offer and do not take it for granted. We would share that sense of appreciation with this child. So, this child would come to know food and music of our original cultures, but also the customs and traditions of our adopted American culture in the United States.

Our Extended Families

Marcio's Family

We come from large extended families. Our family is the product of two cultures melded into one. The aroma of home-cooked Latino dishes, holiday parties with singing and dancing and the constant shift between English and Spanish make up pieces of the simple, but colorful mosaic of our family. Stories marked by stark contrasts between life in the United State and in our original countries remind us of the value of gratitude, determination and empathy.

Patricia's Family

Marcio has one brother and two sisters; Patricia has three sisters. Together we have three nieces and eight nephews. Both of our parents are eager to be present in the lives of their grandchildren and caring for them in a way only grandparents can. Grandmas are already knitting baby boots! Everyone is so excited and supportive of our adoption plan! They cannot wait to be a part of the child's life, and look forward to a bundle of joy to spoil with lots of love, hugs and kisses!

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

We absolutely love our neighborhood in Missouri. There seems to be something new and exciting happening all the time. We live three blocks away from a huge park with a playground and swimming pool. We are a ten-minute walk from a great elementary school, which means our neighborhood is filled with other young families just like ours. It will be the perfect place to raise a child.

Our neighborhood is a mixture of retirees and young families. We feel that our neighbors know us well and we know them; they are like an extended family to us. We have a tradition of hosting a Halloween party in our neighborhood with a prize for best costume. It is always so much fun and we cannot wait to include a child of our own in this event.

Local Park

For right now, it is just the two of us living in this beautiful three-bedroom home. To make it our own, we have filled our home with fun details and memories from our many trips. One of our favorite things to do at home is simply relaxing in our living room while cuddling and watching TV together - sometimes with a big bowl of popcorn! We are so excited to share our cozy home with a child!

From Us to You

Hello! our names are Marcio and Patricia. We would first like to thank for considering us as parents for your child. When we learned that we would need to write a letter to you, we could not sleep. Our minds were full of thoughts about how to write to someone we have never met, yet who possibly holds the key to our future happiness. Our hearts are pounding with excitement over having a chance to finally have a child of our own to raise. Still, we are worried that somehow we will not write the perfect letter that would get your attention and tell you that we are good people who would love and care for your child. We want to tell you about ourselves, but at the same time, we don’t want to feel like we are selling you a product.

Our story, like many others has been a journey to try to have our own child. Since we were first married, three years ago, we have tried to have a family, but this was not meant to be. We went through some fertility treatments that were also unsuccessful. Even so, we still wanted a child of our own to love and to raise to be another loving member of our family. We have been fortunate to be raised by loving parents who helped us grow and realize our potential in the world. We know that we can raise a child with care and love to become a beautiful adult.

We each come from a family of several children and family is very important to us. Coming from such large families, we naturally wanted to have a family in the same way. Though we cannot have biological children, we still dream of having a large family and are excited to realize those dreams through adoption. Already, both grandmothers are knitting items for the baby. All of our extended family are ready to welcome a new baby and shower this child with love.

One thing that may be unique to us is that we each come from different cultural backgrounds. We love American values, but we also have an understanding of differences in culture and feel we can provide the best of both worlds to our child. We cannot wait to share both our Brazilian and Peruvian cultures with a child!

We are not sure how to express in a few sentences how we would love a child. We can only say that more than anything we wish to share our love, our lives, and our joy with a child we can call our own. We understand and are happy to undertake the responsibility of raising a child, and putting the needs of a child above our own. We know that you are receiving this letter because you are putting the needs of your child above the want of your heart. Bringing this child into our lives will be the happiest moment we can imagine, even though we realize, it may very well be the most difficult one for you.

Should you choose us as adoptive parents, we would gladly share with you stories and photos of your child, and personal visits if that is your desire. It is our belief that there is no such thing as too much love, so we know this child would grow even stronger knowing that he or she is loved not only by us, but by you as well.
