Jake & Kristen
We truly appreciate that you are taking the time to read our profile and get a glimpse into what life would be like in our home! Family has always been the most important part of our lives and we are thrilled to have a chance to start our family through adoption. Our home is filled with so much love and laughter and we are excited to share that unconditional love with a child.
We believe that life is an adventure and we don't want to miss out on what the world has to offer! Whether we are planning an adventure close to home or a vacation across the country, we are always looking for ways to explore the world.
We have several national parks near us with awesome hiking trails and campgrounds. We love to climb boulders, hike mountains, canoe down the river, and go bike riding on nearby trails.
We love to travel! Our goal is to see as much of the world as we can. Every year, we go to the beach with all 22 members of Kristen's family. It is a week of relaxation that the whole family looks forward to each year! We have gone to Cozumel and the Bahamas, Nashville (which is one of our favorite cities), Baltimore, Washington D.C., many amusement parks (we love rollercoasters), and our most recent trip was to California! We explored San Francisco, drove down the coast of California and hiked the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles. We are excited for our upcoming dream vacation to Italy!
While Jake was serving our country, he had the opportunity to see some amazing places like Malaysia, Dubai, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Hawaii! We believe in living life to the fullest with no regrets, so we find amazing deals online and that always determines our next spontaneous adventure!
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other
Kristen About Jake: Jake is the most loving, calm, and hilarious guy I know. He is willing to drop whatever he is doing to help someone in need, and we're not quite sure what his family would do without having him around. He has given me the greatest love story and I am truly blessed to be his wife. I swear he wakes up every day and plans out ways to make me laugh! He always puts God first and then his family. I love and respect him more than anyone else in the world and I can't wait to watch him become a dad.
Jake About Kristen: I've known Kristen since we were kids and she has always been a sweet girl with a loving heart. Kristen is gentle, kind hearted, and fun - her laugh is hilarious. She's also persistent & never, ever gives up on something important to her. Her greatest gift is her heart for children. The way she connects with kids is just incredible with her bubbly personality and big smile. Her career has been focused on teaching kids and helping them grow and I'm so excited to see what she's capable of as a mom!
Our Life Priorities
Our three main priorities in life are our faith, family, and friends.
We both grew up in strong Christian homes and we are involved in our church. We attend a nondenominational church where Kristen is the Children's Director. She has an amazing team of volunteers and works with kids every single weekend. Jake is on Kristen's ministry team and helps with all of her events. He recently dressed up as the Hulk for the their summer camp and danced his heart out to help the kids have an amazing experience.
Our philosophy on family is simple: You never turn your back on family. We love our families hard. We believe these are the people God intended for us to lean on at all times and we are thankful for wonderful families. We are excited to finally be able to have a family of our own! Having children is something our hearts have desired for such a long time and we can't wait to grow our family through adoption. Our friends stick by us through the good and the bad times. We love to open up our home to have fellowship with our friends and their families. Relationships are extremely important to us and we treasure the lifelong friends that we have made.
Our House and Neighborhood
We reside in a suburban Pennsylvania town where we have the privilege of having all 4 seasons! We live in an adorable ranch house, surrounded by neighbors of all ages. Our goal has always been to make our house a home; a place where people feel safe, comfortable, and welcomed. We have 3 bedrooms, an awesome porch, and a large game room which is our favorite spot in the house to relax. We love entertaining our families and our friends as much as possible.
We have lived in the same town since we were both toddlers. We live in a close knit community with our families nearby! Our town has holiday parades and a yearly carnival. We live 30 minutes from the city where we love to attend different arts festivals, summer concerts on the streets, ride our tandem bicycle downtown, go to amusement parks, the zoo, museums, and attend baseball and football games. Kristen also plans all of the children's events at our church, so our child would definitely be a big part of the church community with hundreds of other kids! Our town is small but still has some great kid-friendly areas! There are 3 parks within walking distance of our house and several larger outdoor parks close by where we love to walk our puppy.
Our Extended Families
When we got married, we chose to live as close to family as possible. Both of our families are huge and full of more love than we could ever imagine. We live within 10 minutes of both sets of parents. We have 9 nieces and nephews who are extremely excited to add another cousin to their group!
Kristen's family is 100% Italian and they love her moms homemade Italian meals! We have family gatherings a couple times per month where all the adults and kids get together and catch up on their weeks. Every summer, all 22 members of the family rent a beach house in Myrtle Beach. It is one of our favorite times of the year!
Jake's family loves to play outside and they are always having family gatherings! Jake's family has a few dozen acres where his parents and grandparents have built houses. We love playing volleyball, corn hole, and having bonfires on the property. One of our favorite pastimes is playing cards with Pap and Grandma on Saturday nights!
When we told our families that we were adopting, they were extremely excited and supportive. They are thrilled for us to finally achieve our dream of becoming parents. There is an unbreakable bond in both of our families and we have always dreamed of adding children to the mix. Any child would be truly blessed to be a part of this loud and crazy crew!
From Us to You
We want to start off by saying that we truly admire you for your bravery. You have made a courageous decision and we will always respect you for your choice. We can't imagine what you are going through, but we are thankful you are reading this letter and considering us to raise your child. We are thankful to be a part of your journey.
We want to share with you a little bit about our story! We met when we were in elementary school. We attended the same school and church. We were in the same friend group in high school, but the light bulb didn't go off that we should be together until Jake's high school graduation. We started dating in June of 2007. Jake enlisted in the United States Navy for 4 years and he left for boot camp just 3 months after we started dating. The moment Jake got there, he called Kristen and told her she was going to be his wife. We never gave up on each other. Distance was difficult, but we were so excited for our future together. It was worth the wait. Jake finished his time in the Navy in 2011. Kristen graduated from college and we got married in June of 2012!
Currently, Jake is an IT Analyst at a global pharmaceutical company. After Jake finished his time serving in the military, he worked at the family car dealership and got his degree in Management of Information Systems and Business. Jake is hard working and loved at work and home. He is active and loves to find fun things to do as soon as he gets off work. When we hang out with family, he is always playing with our 9 nieces and nephews. He says they are more fun than adults! He is the coolest uncle and he will be a phenomenal father.
Kristen graduated from a liberal arts college in 2012 and received her degree in Elementary and Special Education. After she graduated, she taught 1st and 2nd grade for 4 years before becoming the Children's Director at a nondenominational church nearby. We had been attending that church for a few years before Kristen started working there, but we knew it was the right move and a perfect job for her to be a dedicated mom. Kristen has worked with children her whole life and her face lights up when she is teaching kids. It has always been her passion and she will be an incredible mother. Kristen's job is very flexible, which means that she is able to put our child's needs first. She has the flexibility to work from home some days and our families are really close by to watch our child while we are at work! Our moms have already chosen the days they want to babysit!
The one thing missing in our home is a child. We have so much love to give and our hearts desire is to share the love we've been given with a child. We promise to give them as much love as possible. We will do our best to raise them well and help them know right from wrong. We will be a support system for them. We are a team. Our infertility battle made us lose so much hope, but you have shown us a glimmer of hope again. We thank you for getting us excited for the opportunity of becoming parents. You are helping our dreams come true.
After the hospital, we don't want you to be a stranger! You are an important part of our lives. We would love to exchange emails and have phone conversations from time to time. We want to send you pictures, stories, and keepsakes that mark milestones in your child's life. We are also open to the idea of visits when the time is right. We are excited to meet you and happy to work together to maintain a healthy relationship. We will always speak highly of you and your child will know how much they are loved because of your selflessness and courage. From the bottom of our hearts, we humbly thank you for considering us as parents.Warmest Regards,
Jake & Kristen
