Tim & Dawn
We are honored that you would like to learn about our family! Our children are thrilled about having a baby brother or sister and we cannot wait to have another child to cherish and love! Adoption has been near and dear to our hearts for years and we are so excited to be on this journey today. Thank you for considering us, we hope to be able to continue this journey with you!
We lead a very family focused lifestyle. Tim is a Submariner in the U.S. Navy and works very hard at his job. He loves what he does and strives to learn and do as much as he can so he can continue to move up in rank. Tim's job has allowed Dawn to be a stay-at-home mom which we are both so grateful for. The Navy has also given us the incredible opportunity to live overseas in Europe! While here in Europe we have discovered our new found love of traveling. In one year our family has been able to visit 12 different countries! Our children love traveling by boats, trains and planes and finding new places to explore. As a family we also love to go swimming, bowling and bike riding. We have family dinner together every night around the table and bedtime always consists of reading, silliness, hugs and kisses, and tucks into bed. Dawn has a special I Love You saying for each child and Tim has his special sized bear hugs that both kids ask for. Tim and Dawn love to do workouts together and the kids love to participate and cheer us on. We also enjoy playing tennis, and even though we aren't that good, we have so much fun trying. As a family we love Disney! Going to Disney or snuggling together on the couch watching our favorite Disney movies are some of our most treasured times.
Trenton & Charlotte
We have two children: Trenton and Charlotte. Both our children attend a wonderful private Italian elementary school out in town. The teachers at their school are full of love and compassion for their students and their job. Dawn has been Charlotte's American Classroom Representative for 2 years now, spending the school year relaying important information to all the American mom's.
Trenton is in Kindergarten and he loves it! Trenton enjoys reading and doing school workbooks that we buy for him to practice at home with. He also loves dinosaurs and knows all their names by heart! Charlotte is in 4-year-old preschool and is our little social butterfly. She enjoys being her teachers helper and always has friends running up to her when she enters her classroom. Charlotte has a passion for singing! She sings in Italian and in English!Adoption has been something we have both always wanted, even before we were married. While planning for a third child, we found out Tim carries a genetic mutation that could increase a persons risk of cancer. After having our daughter, who was born two months early, and now knowing about this mutation, we decided it was time to turn to adoption to complete our family. Our hearts and home are ready for another baby, as are our children, who tell us they would like to have another one of each other.
Fun Facts About Us
Our House and Neighborhood
Our family lives in military base housing here in beautiful Naples, Italy! We live in a wonderful building full of families with children. Our apartment is very spacious with 3 bedrooms, a living/dining room combo, 2 bathrooms, a laundry room, a kitchen, a storage room and 2 patios that you can watch amazing firework shows from which take place out in town during Italian celebrations! You can find family events taking place almost every week out on the center lawn that consists of kid games, kid rides, food stands and live entertainment. There is an Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween Carnival and Christmas Tree Lighting every year!
The entire base is very family friendly. Parks between almost every building. Tennis and basketball courts. Soccer and football fields. A daycare, elementary, middle and high school. A movie theater and bowling alley. A large hotel, Church, small mini-mart, restaurant, coffee shop and free community rooms you can use for events. Inside our shopping mall is a food court, hair salon, a grocery store and much more. Our favorite place on base though, is the community swimming pool! The pool area has a separate small baby pool and the main pool has water shallow enough for toddlers on one side, lanes in the middle, plus a diving board and a big slide on the end. We also love exploring off base, Italians are the most loving people we've ever seen with children! Our community is the safest and greatest place to grow up!
Our Extended Families
Being a military family, we don't always get to live close by our extended family, but we continue to stay close and connected through video chatting. Our kids love to get to see and talk to their cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents on the phone. We would love to be able to do this with you and your child too if you were interested. When we do get to live close by, our families make every effort to see each other as often as we can. Our favorite get together's are our kids birthday parties! Dawn loves to throw a different theme for the kids every year while Tim loves to cook all the food on the grill.
During the holidays when we are away from family, it's tradition for our military friends to hold holiday dinners at one of our homes. Everyone pitches in to help with setup and food. It's the best part about being in the military, you make friends who become your family and who love your children as their own everywhere you go. All our family and friends are thrilled for us to welcome another child into our home and into their hearts. We are so blessed, as will this child be, to be supported and surrounded by lots of cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and friends who would do anything and everything for us.
From Us to You
Hello and thank you for wanting to take the time to get to know us a little bit better. We cannot begin to imagine how difficult this decision is that you are facing, but we admire your courage and strength and love for wanting this child to have the best future possible.
We have been married since March 2011. Our lives have been intertwined since we were little, attending the same schools, living in the same neighborhoods, even playing in the same elementary school band without knowing it. We finally met face to face in high school and dated briefly before losing touch for 7 years. After reconnecting through Facebook, we met back up and we both knew that this was it, we were meant to be together and we weren't going to lose touch again. We got married 2 and a half months later and continue to grow and love each other more and more every day.
When we discussed having children we both knew we wanted biological children and that we also wanted to adopt. Adopting has been something Dawn has always felt in her heart she would do whether she had biological children or not. Tim has a half-sister who was placed for adoption as a newborn, and seeing how wonderful adoption is, decided he too would like to be a part of that some day.
We have two beautiful children, a son and a daughter, and wanted to have more, but life took an unexpected turn. Our youngest was a preemie, born 2 months early. Dawn's ability to carry full term is very low. Tim has also recently found out he has a genetic mutation that can be passed on to biological children that can potentially increase their risk of cancer. Between the two risks, we have decided we would not have any more biological children, and that it was time for us to do what we have always wanted - grow our family through adoption. Our children are so excited for a new baby sibling to love and play with!
Dawn is a stay-at-home mom and Tim is a submariner in the U.S. Navy. Tim's job has been such a wonderful experience for us. We were able to have our children in the states close to all our family so we could visit with them regularly. Tim's job reassigns him every 3 years to a new duty station, and that is how we wound up in Italy. We have been able to travel to 12 different countries since being here! We have made life long friends from all over the world. The military is a very familial environment. Our friends are our family no matter where we are. We spend birthdays and holidays together and our kids get to be surrounded by people who love them like their own.
We can promise you that no matter where we are, in the states near our families, or abroad with our military friends, your child will be surrounded with an unbelievable amount of love and support. We will be able to give this child opportunities to travel the world and to learn and grow through amazing experiences. Yet, no matter what, we will still always get to be connected to you through pictures, letters, emails, phone calls, even video chats if you desired. Our children love getting to see and talk to our family that way.
This child will always know who you are and know about the incredibly tough, admirable, and selfless decision you made if you chose us. We will always be open and honest with them. We will instill morals such as honesty, integrity, and respect. They will be given the best education possible and we will love this child unconditionally, forever. You would be giving us the gift of a lifetime and you will always be a significant part of our family's and this child's life.Love and respect,
Tim & Dawn
