Ryan & Lisa
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us! We have been blessed in our lives with our daughter, our families and friends, careers that we enjoy, and by finding each other. Our home is filled with love and laughter and we can't wait to share it with another child. We know that adoption is a gift and we promise to provide unconditional love and support to your child.
Our lifestyle is busy, but we always try to remain laid back and flexible. Our priority is spending time as a family. We enjoy getting outdoors as much as possible. We take Madelyn to the park near our house as many evenings as we can. On the weekends we like to go to the zoo, the aquarium, or petting zoo. We have close friends who have children around our daughter's age, so we have play dates often. When we are not outdoors, we just play at home and we also enjoy spending time with extended family.
We do still make time for each other and to care for ourselves. Lisa enjoys working out in the mornings. Ryan tries to get out to golf when he can. We play on a sand volleyball league each week. We still try to get together with friends for dinner and try to go to baseball games when we can.
What it Means to be Parents
Being parents is something that we prayed for and waited for, and it is something that we do not take for granted. Lisa has loved watching Madelyn develop her own personality. She feels lucky to be a part of shaping someone's life. She has never known how strong unconditional love is until she saw Madelyn and she cannot wait to have that bond and feeling for another child. She will also love to see her children play together and build a bond with one another.
Ryan is proud to be a father; being a parent is a fantastic responsibility. Being able to teach and support Madelyn has been a greater gift than he could have imagined. He is extremely excited to grow our family through adoption and give everything he has to raise two well-rounded, loving and caring children.
Being a parent is a fantastic privilege; one that has changed our lives forever!
Our Extended Families
Ryan comes from a large family. He has an older sister and two younger brothers. We have two nieces and three nephews. They can’t wait to have another cousin to play with! Although Ryan’s family lives in Nebraska, we are still close with them. We see his parents about once a month and also go on family trips together. We spent last Thanksgiving with Ryan’s whole family at the lake and plan to go back for the 4th of July. Christmas time and 4th of July with Ryan’s family is always full of activities for the kids. Whether it’s making cookies, gingerbread houses, playing outside, doing scavenger hunts, or swimming; the kids are always entertained on holiday get-togethers.
Lisa comes from a smaller family than Ryan. She is close to her mom and her grandma and is lucky enough to live about thirty minutes from them. We spend time with them at least once a month and go to her grandma's for every holiday.
All of our family is very supportive of our adoption journey. To all of them, family is everything and they can’t wait to have a new family member!
Our House and Neighborhood
We love our home and our location. We feel that our home is very welcoming and cozy! We live in Kansas in a very family-friendly neighborhood. We have a fenced in backyard where there is room to get outside and play. Our favorite room in our home is our playroom because we spend most of our time there with our daughter. We also like our dining room and living room because that is where we gather when we have friends and family over.
We live very close to three parks; two of them are in walking distance. All of the parks have playgrounds where we take Madelyn often. One park has a basketball goal and a baseball diamond where neighborhood kids get together to play. We live very close to walking trails where we can walk our dogs. While we do live in a suburban neighborhood, there are plenty of family-friendly things to do around us. It is nice to live so close to Kansas City because we can always go there to explore the aquarium or the zoo.
From Us to You
Hi! We are Ryan and Lisa. Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know us. While we do not know what led you to adoption, and while we have not been in your shoes before, we can only imagine that it is probably one of the hardest decisions you will ever have to make. It is a decision that takes bravery and demonstrates the most selfless act of love.
We have been together for ten and a half years and were married in 2010. About a year after we were married we began trying to start our family. We went through fertility treatments and experienced multiple miscarriages. Through that journey we prayed many, many times that God would reveal his plan for us. We felt relieved when we understood that we had been called to adopt. Our daughter Madelyn came into our lives in 2016 and our whole journey made sense to us. Our infertility journey seems like something far from the past. Madelyn was such a blessing and we are so grateful to her two amazing birth parents who chose us to be her parents. We knew we wanted a family, but being parents has given us greater joy than we can ever describe.
Before we began our adoption journey, adoption was already a part of our lives. Lisa was adopted from South Korea when she was three months old. Growing up she would love to hear the story about how her family came to pick her up from the airport, her family would celebrate this date as her adoption day. Beside this story, she does not remember a big discussion about being adopted, she never felt different. She viewed her adoptive parents no differently than she would her biological parents. Her family provided so much love and happiness that she felt so blessed to be adopted. Her parents always told her how much her biological mom must have loved her to choose adoption. Because of this, Lisa felt very loved even before she was born.
If we are blessed enough to be chosen by you, we promise to have this same talk with your child. We will always remember how much you have loved your child and promise to carry that on to them. We will tell them as much information as possible about you, so they will know where they came from. We also promise to send pictures and letters so you can also see them grow and what they’ll become.
We feel that we are best friends. We love spending time with one another, but spending time as a family with Madelyn is our priority. We both have close, loving, supportive families and they are all very excited about our adoption journey. We look forward to creating memories of family vacations, birthday celebrations, and family get-togethers.
We are excited to grow our family and we look forward to providing your child with a loving home and a big sister. We have so much love to give to both children and we also look forward to watching our children bond as siblings.
Again, we are very grateful that you have taken the time to get to know us. We know you have a very difficult decision to make and our prayers are with you.
