Cultural Diversity

Fun With Friends

We live in a diverse community, in a diverse world. This is something to be embraced and celebrated. Our diversity is what makes us special. I look forward to expanding my world view by welcoming and learning new things. I look forward to teaching our child about the uniqueness we gain through diversity. As parents, it is our job to teach our children that there is beauty and strength in diversity. We will encourage our child to be involved in diverse communities. We have friends and family from every community imaginable. Cultural diversity means much more than skin color or where you are from. It is our heritage, our rich traditions, and our new ones. There are so many incredible opportunities to experience all this world has to offer. We will raise our child to become someone who embraces diversity and seeks it out with an open heart and mind.

Qualities We Admire in Each Other

Best Friends

Patrick About Jenny: Jenny is a loving and dedicated daughter, niece, friend and wife. She was raised as an only child by the most loving mom a girl could have. I knew we worked great together before we started dating. As our life together evolves we continue to make each other better. Jenny has always surrounded herself with great people who embrace and challenger her. She loves spending time with our big extended families. She is really getting better at trying new, weird food with me, and laughing at all my jokes. Jenny encourages me and keeps me grounded. I don't know where I'd be without Jenny's love and friendship.

Jenny About Patrick: Patrick is a charismatic fun loving son, brother, friend and husband. Patrick stole my heart right from the start with his genuine smile and free spirit. He is great at making new friends. His open personality and witty humor draw people to him. He is great at trivia and loves a good joke. Patrick has spent the last several years building his business and I couldn't be more proud. When he is not cooking an amazing dinner he is in the garage building beautiful pieces of art or furniture for our home. You could almost say he can do it all. I am blessed every day to be able to call him my husband and my best friend.

What It Means to Become Parents

Patrick is the Best Uncle!

Being a parent means understanding that you are raising an adult and how you parent them will help mold the type of adult they are going to be. Being a parent means setting a good example for right and wrong, being present and always lending a guiding hand. Parents make their children feel safe, loved and help them to make the best decisions they can in life. I can't wait to be able to watch someone have a lifetime of firsts and discoveries. I believe parents are truly blessed to be able to watch their children taste their first favorite food, fall in love, make a hard decision and choose their own path.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We own a beautiful home in a family-filled neighborhood on the southwest side of Chicago. Our home is open and bright and each room has its own personality. We have a small garden and backyard where we can grill and play bags in the summer. Our community has great schools and recreational areas. The pool and ice skating rink are only a few blocks away. Our neighbors take the holidays very seriously. There is a spectacular fireworks show on the Fourth of July, tons of trick or treater's on Halloween and summers are filled with block parties. We love to walk around looking at all the fantastic lights and decorations during Christmas. It's almost a winter wonderland.

Chicago is a diverse and magical city filled with museums, beaches, sporting venues and we get to call it home. With a quick car or train ride we can catch a Cub's game or go see some of Patrick's work at the aquarium. We enjoy movies in the park and all the free concerts. When choosing a place to start a family it was important that we had the best of both worlds.

From Our Garden

Our Extended Families

Dress-Up With Family

Our friends and family have been unwavering in their support for us. There are so many great things we could tell you about them, but there isn't enough paper in the world. They are all unique and beautiful. They come from different backgrounds and diverse families. They are students, teachers, business men and women, animal people, builders, lovers of life and so much more. They each have amazing talents and they can't wait to share them with a new member of the family.

Spending Time With the People We Love

We are very close to our families. Both the ones we were born into and the ones we weren't. It never matters why we get together, just that we do. We love to cook for them, celebrate life with them or just sit around a fire and talk and laugh with them. We couldn't have asked for better friends and family. They have taught us what unconditional love, true friendship and support really are. We see some of them a few times a year and others almost every day. They have held our hearts and hands in hard times, made every celebration special and make each day a little better.

From Us to You

We are Patrick and Jenny, and we are honored that you are taking the time to get to know a little about us. We have been married for 4 years and loving each other for 10. Although we love our life together, we are ready to begin the next chapter of our lives by welcoming a child into our hearts, our family and our home.

We always knew we would create our family through adoption - Adoption was an easy choice us. We found out early in our relationship that we were unable to have children biologically. We spent time talking about all of our options and every time the subject of adoption came up there was excitement about what that future might look like. Our conversations about adoption came naturally and after meeting people who had been touched by adoption the choice was clear. Adoption makes sense for us and all that we value and hope for in family. We have many amazing people in our lives that we call family and that has nothing to do with biology. We have so much love to give and through adoption we are hoping to have the opportunity to share that love.

We believe it is important to start the adoptive conversation early. We will be as open as possible about their adoption as they grow and form new ideas and questions. Each adoption story is unique and special. We will answer questions openly and have conversations about their story starting with the day they were born. As the questions change so might their emotions. We will want to make sure that they understand that all the feelings they have about their adoption story are important. Our hope is that these conversations will make them feel loved and accepted for who they are. We are hopeful that you will be a part of this love and would love to share letters and pictures with you. We knew the moment that we started our adoption journey that it was the true path for us.

Our views on raising children - Love comes first. We are a very loving couple that come from almost overly affectionate families. Jenny's mom made sure that at least a hundred kisses were given to her every day. Patrick's mom is still giving the most comforting hugs anyone has ever had. His dad has shown Patrick what it means to be a great dad through love and building a stable home. We are hoping to share these gifts as we grow our family.

Learning plays an integral part in our daily lives. As a trainer and business-owner we truly appreciate what it means to continually learn and grow. Every day brings a special lesson and it's important to pass that along. Our parents read to us every day until we could read to them and this will be a ritual we will continue.

Laughter and music is what holds us together. It reminds us that life is short and sometimes you can't take things too seriously. There is always music on when we're cooking, working in the garden or just need to relax and unwind from the day. Our families love to turn up the stereo and sing, dance and play the air keyboard. While we may not be the best singers and dancers we would be lucky to have a child that will sing along and probably be a little embarrassed.

We can only imagine what this time in your life looks like for you. There are a lot of decisions in your future and we hope that no matter what choices you make, you are supported in every way. We have had the chance to meet with many people who have been touched by adoption and can say that if you find us to be the right match, we are here to be supportive and honest throughout this journey. Your thoughts and feelings are important to us and we will do our very best to cherish and honor them.
