Tim & Kathryn
Hi and thank you so much for considering our profile. We are very excited to be taking this journey with your help! We are looking forward to being able to open our hearts, our home, and our family to a beautiful child. We would be honored for you to look over our profile and consider us when making your decision. Again, thank you for considering us!
Adoption in Our Lives
We have a son named Fisher that we adopted in 2016. He's very loving and has a great sense of humor, he talks a lot, and loves playing with other kids. Currently Fisher's favorite things are Peppa Pig, Elmo, dinosaurs, balloons, and pizza. He also loves playing with our two dogs, Moxie and Sophie, and has gotten good at telling them to sit to give them treats. He has also started swimming, which he loves!
We hope Fisher can have a sibling to love and grow with, teach them everything he is learning, and just be a great big brother to. We know that Fisher will be a great big brother by the way he interacts with the other kids at school. He hugs them and plays nicely with them and we love that he is so sweet to everyone.
We want our children to know everything about their adoption. With our first adoption, Fisher's birth mother went into labor before we had the opportunity to meet her, so we met her right after she gave birth. We sat and talked with her, met some of her family, and shared that we want her to be a part of our lives, too. That is what we want for this adoption as well. We know that our children are going to wonder about where they came from, why they have certain idiosyncrasies, why they look different than us. We want our children to know their other siblings and family members. For us, it is just more love and support out there for our kids!
Our Individual Strengths
Tim is laid back and funny. He is somewhat quiet, but when he gets going he loves to crack jokes. He is extremely smart and remembers pretty much everything he reads. He is an avid fisherman and takes advantage of the local streams, rivers, ponds, and lakes to pursue his passion. He teaches fly-fishing and is a licensed fishing guide as part of his job. He is very informative and loves to point out different animals to our son and then gives him a backstory about them. His calm and patient demeanor are just some of the qualities that make him a wonderful dad!
Kathryn is very outgoing and social. She can become friends with just about anyone and loves to spend time with groups of people. She's very organized and that helps with many projects around the house or just planning birthday parties or fun events. Kathryn loves to explore her green thumb. She has a jungle of a garden in our sunroom that she maintains year round. In the summer months, she also has an organic vegetable garden to add some freshness to our daily meals. She loves to swim and being goofy with our son. She has a strong work ethic that has helped move her up quickly in her job. She's passionate and motivated and loves teaching our son new things.
Our Family Traditions
We have many family traditions that we can't wait to share with another child!
Most Saturday nights we do homemade pizza night. We make our dough from scratch, put our own toppings on, and all three of us have our own pans for our pizzas. Kathryn grew up with Friday night pizza tradition in her house and we loved it so much we started our own.
We also do Sunday morning breakfast at a local restaurant. Because we are in a small town all the locals know each other so it's nice to go in and see everyone each week.
Every summer we head down to the family beach cottage. We go every July 4th and Labor Day weekends and sometimes on Memorial Day. Tim's dad and aunts have all kept the two cottages going so all the extended family go. It's a huge turnout!
We go with extended family every late July/early August to a campground on a small lake. We rent a bunch of cabins at the end of the road and spend five days fishing, swimming, boating, biking, and hiking.
We also have a once a month tradition with a few of Kathryn's girlfriends, and their husbands, that she has been friends with since childhood. We take turns traveling back to her hometown to meet up or they will come spend a week at our home, so all the kids can spend time playing together while all the adults catch up.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a rural town of about 2.500 people. We love our community and it is a wonderful place to raise a family. We live in a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home on an acre and a half of land on a quiet side street off one of the main roads. We have a large grass yard with woods out back. Tim's favorite room is his workshop, which is downstairs off the family room. Kathryn's is the newly renovated front office that used to be a three season porch. She sits at the high top table and has her coffee in the morning while the sun comes up and enjoys listening to the stream in the front yard. Our town has multiple parks, a town swimming pool, a brand new library, and tennis and basketball courts.
There are many events held between our town and the surrounding towns. We have Christmas in the Village, where Santa rides up and down the street, and our son walks with the other kids in the parade. There are local events like antique car shows, art walks, local farmers' markets, yoga workshops, annual jack-o'-lantern lightings, movies under the moonlight, and holiday parades. We have friends close by with young children as well that we spend a lot of time with, and the school system in our town is rated one of the best in the state.
Our Extended Families
Tim's family is very big, and most live within a few hours' drive. We love spending time with our nieces, who are growing up very fast.
Kathryn's family is small, but very close-knit with members close and far away. We visit family and have large get-togethers (with too much food!) during major holidays at the beach cottage and ski condo, and we get to play fun games with everyone like Left-Right-Center, money scramble for the little kids, Ladder Ball, Washer Toss, Balloon Stomp, and pie-eating contests.
Tim's family is unique because they are extremely close and everyone gets along well. Kathryn's family is unique because it is multi-cultural and has a brother living on the other side of the country. We love taking trips to visit Kathryn's brother and sister-in-law and play with their animals. Both families are extremely excited for us to adopt again and cannot wait to meet the newest family member!
From Us to You
First off, we want to thank you. Thank you for taking the time to look at our profile and consider us. This is a huge decision to consider adoption, and we are proud of you for taking this step. That takes a lot of strength. This is the scariest, but most exciting, thing we have ever done. You're not alone in this; we are here with you. We want you to know that there are many loving families out there looking to adopt. If we are that lucky family, we will make sure that this child is loved fully and well taken care of. We have been together fourteen years, married nine, and have a beautiful son that was adopted as well. We are in a committed, loving relationship. We make a great team, and it's one of the best things about us. We would respect your wishes to know more about the child and would love to send you letters and pictures of the baby as they grow up.
When we first got married, we always talked about how we would have a child biologically first and then maybe adopt after that. It was kind of just conversation, and we never fully thought about it because we were not at that stage yet. Then we struggled to have a biological baby and realized that we still wanted to start a family. To us, a family does not mean biological. It means that there is love in the home. That's what we want - a family. We will love this child and raise them to love as we do. They will be involved in all of the fun of Tim's extended family, they will learn about the different cultures that Kathryn grew up with, they will learn how to ski with us, fish with Tim, garden with Kathryn, travel with us to see family all over the country, and become a well-rounded human being. They will get a good education, and be involved in both city and rural communities - Kathryn grew up in a city, and Tim grew up in a small town. We want them to be able to experience both worlds.
We look forward to expanding our family. What we are looking for is the chance to watch our children grow into the adults they will become. We want to be there for their first steps, their first words, first loves and first losses. We will be there when they succeed and we will be there when they fail. Raising a child is the greatest give we can give this world, and we are looking forward to the challenges and the rewards. That is the most important thing we are looking to get out of this adoption: the chance to earn the love of a child and the chance to watch them grow into their own person.
We are open about our adoption to our families and we will be open about the adoption to our child. The story of our child's adoption is the story of our family, and we don't want to hide any parts of the story. There will be a memory box filled with mementos from our journey, a scrapbook filled with pictures. You are a part of this story, and we will honor your contribution to the building of our family.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You cannot begin to imagine how much this means to us. You are making the hardest decision you have ever made in your life, and by doing so, you will provide an amazing life for your child, a life full of love and happiness. We are honored that you are considering putting your trust in us to raise your child. Thank you so much. It truly does mean everything to us.
