Mike & Bridget

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read our profile. Even the possibility you might choose us to parent your child brings us great joy, and we are so grateful you are considering us. We are an active, happily married couple that cannot wait to share our love with a child. We promise to provide this precious gift with a caring home, surrounded by love, opportunity and acceptance.

Cultural Diversity

We Can't Wait to Become Parents!

We are open to adopting a child of a different race because we believe that we have the resources and motivation to provide that child with a diverse upbringing. Our home will be one that is open and loving of all races and cultures. We will celebrate our child's culture through reading books about their ancestry, providing same-race toys, cooking ethnic dishes from their culture, and seeking out hands-on learning opportunities for our child to learn about their heritage. We will confront racism directly and be prepared to answer questions our child may have about their own ethnic and cultural identity, no matter how difficult the answers may be.

We will seek out connections for our child. We feel it is important for our child to have same-race adults and children in their life. We will make sure our child has same-race mentors in their life. Furthermore, we have joined a local non-profit adoption support agency and have connections with other families that have adopted a child of a different race. Allowing our child the opportunity for connections with others from their culture as well as other transracial families will be extremely important.

We understand that having a child of a different race will require that we be more self aware and mindful of the prejudges in the world around us. We feel we are up to the challenge. We will be steadfast throughout our child's life in providing learning opportunities and connections to their culture.

Our Leisure Time

Collecting Food at Cranksgiving

We both love being outside in nature. We enjoy taking our dogs on nightly walks around the neighborhood, and longer hikes on the weekends. Mike is a passionate cyclist and rides his bike as much as he can. Bridget joins him periodically on the road, but isn't as involved as Mike is. Bridget prefers to try different types of physical activities. She has completed three half marathons and in 2015 we both rode 200 miles in 2 days to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis.

As an avid mountain biker, Mike enjoys volunteering with the local mountain bike organization to build new trails. The organization sponsors build days, where people donate their day to helping build and maintain the trail system in the area. We are lucky to have such a great cycling community.

We have both been involved in an annual event "Cranksgiving," in which cyclists ride to local grocery stores and buy canned food for the local food bank. The first few years we participated as riders, but last year we teamed up with Bridget's work and helped out loading the vans full of food. It's an annual event we love being a part of.

We look forward to participating in events like this with our child. We want to teach our child to appreciate the great outdoors and to be amazed of the things the human body can do. We also want our child to be involved in activities that help others.

Our Pups, Roma & Estes

We are a dog family through and through and consider them more than pets. There is nothing quite like the unconditional love of a dog!

Bridget loves dogs so much that she has chosen to work with them as part of her career. She works at a doggy daycare and boarding facility. It's really hard to have a bad day when you are surrounded by pups! The best part of her job is that she gets to bring our dogs with her to work!

Roma is our old lady that loves to nap but also enjoys her short walks around the neighborhood. Her favorite thing however is eating! Estes is our little girl that we adopted last summer. She is 1-year-old and is the sweetest thing ever. She absolutely loves all children, and will make an excellent big sister!

We try to involve our pups in as many activities as possible. Roma prefers to stay home these days, but Estes loves going to family gatherings, hikes, work, etc. She is our constant companion and we wouldn't have it any other way. Dogs are a huge part of our family, and our child will have constant exposure to all different shapes, sizes and breeds.

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

We live in a suburb in Missouri that has been nationally listed as one of the best places to raise a family, and we couldn't agree more!

There are families all over our neighborhood. In fact, we live less than 1/8th of a mile from our local elementary school, and in the mornings can see all the parents walking their children to school. Our child will have plenty of children around the neighborhood to play with at the local playground or even in our backyard pool.

Our community is always holding family friendly events such as fall festivals full of ice cream and rides, breakfast with Santa, movies in the park, dog swims, etc. There is always something going on, and everyone in the neighborhood is encouraged to attend. We can't wait to share in all of the fun with a child of our own!

Our neighborhood is so special because we live in a safe, friendly suburban community with all the city life has to offer. However, we also live less than two miles from one of the most beautiful state parks in Missouri. We love going hiking with our dogs and cannot wait to experience this with our child. The state park is often full of families picnicking, hiking and even swimming in the river. There are family friendly trails and even a small train for children that travels along the river trail.

We have the best of both worlds: city life and county life all rolled into one!

Our Extended Families

Our Immediate Family

We are both very close to our families and are lucky enough that both our parents and siblings live less than twenty minutes from us. We are blessed with two nieces and three nephews and love having slumber parties at our house with them. We enjoy swimming in our pool and cozying up in our movie theater in the basement. We always let the kids pick the movie (lately it has been a lot of Moana and Trolls). We typically end the evening with a dance party. In the morning, Mike makes them his famous pancakes.

We value the time we spend with our family. We both grew up taking a family vacation each year. Some years it was a trip to Florida while other years it was just a camping trip a few hours away. Regardless, both families took the time to spend quality time creating lasting memories together.

Both sides of our families are supportive of our choice to adopt a child. They know how much we want to be parents and are looking forward to that coming to fruition. Everyone is so excited to meet our newest family member. We recently spent the day at a local park celebrating this upcoming arrival. All 19 of us explored the playground, played soccer, tag, red light/green light, and ate pizza. It was an incredible moment knowing how much everyone already loves this child. Our child will be so blessed to have such an amazing, supportive family!

From Us to You

We want to thank you for considering us to raise your child. What an incredible honor it is that you are even looking at our profile! We know this must be an extremely difficult decision, and your bravery and courage is something we both admire so much. Since we met, the two of us have shared the dream of raising a family together. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping make that a reality!

We have been together since 2011 and were married in 2015 in Estes Park, CO, surrounded by our immediate family. Bridget's brother married us overlooking the mountains. It was absolutely perfect. We live together in a suburb in Missouri with our two beautiful pups, Estes and Roma. We love our pups and nieces and nephews so much, that we can't even imagine the love we will have for our child. We both cannot wait to experience that special bond between a parent and a child.

We knew we wanted to start a family right away, but God had other plans. We are firm believers that everything happens for a reason, and are at complete peace with God's plan that adoption is our path towards parenthood. One thing that makes us unique as a couple is that we really try to be grateful for everything we have, even when times are rough. An attitude of gratitude goes a long way in enjoying life instead of just enduring it.

Words cannot describe how much we already love your child. Please know, this child will be loved and cared for from the moment you make the decision that we are meant to parent your child. We are blessed to have the support of our entire family and even luckier that all our family live nearby. Both of our parents are over the moon about their newest grandchild and are all hands-on, involved grandparents. All four of them will actively be involved in this child's life. We may be biased, but we think they are the best grandparents in the world!

We look forward to creating memories as a family, be it going on a hike at our local state park, making dinner together, or taking a road trip to the mountains. Both of our favorite childhood memories are times spent with family doing the simple things. We are eager to experience life through the eyes of a child, watch him/her grow, learn, and explore the world around him/her.

We both are excited about the idea of having an open adoption. We agree that it is important for your child to know where he/she came from and understand that the decision to let us raise him/her came from a place of unconditional love. We will send letters and photos and are also open to emails, social media connections, and even visits so that your child can have a relationship with his/her biological family. We consider it a blessing that this child will have not only our family, but your family as well to love and support him/her.

We want your child to understand his/her biological and cultural background as well as our family's backgrounds. Regardless of this child's race, we will provide him/her with a diverse upbringing, where they will learn to respect all humans regardless of their race, gender, religion, etc. We will instill in our child the values of respect, compassion, integrity, and to always be grateful for what we have. Life has ups and downs, but life is so much better when we focus on what we have instead of what is missing. We try to keep things simple, living life by the golden rule: Treat others as you would like to be treated.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! You are giving us the most special and valuable gift we could ever imagine. We will never be able to repay you, but we will try by raising our child to be a kind, loving human being.

With love and sincerity,

Mike & Bridget

We once told my niece and nephew that I still wear diapers. To this day, every time they see me they like to tease me and say "Uncle Mike still wears diapers". Cracks me up every time.
