Alex & Nicole
We have always known that we want to be parents and we feel so humbled that you are even looking at our adoption profile. We are here with open hearts that are ready to love and cherish our future child and you as our child's birth mother. Thank you for taking a peek into our daily life. We hope that you find that we are a good fit for you and your baby.
Our Love of Teaching
We are so blessed to both be teachers. Teaching and working with children is something that we are both truly passionate about and it is something that definitely bonds us as a couple. For the past five years, we taught in the same school in a small, rural school district in Wisconsin. Alex teaches middle school math and Nicole taught first grade. We truly value the relationships that we made at this school and Alex still works there now.
In the fall of 2017, Nicole made the decision to leave her job as a first grade teacher and accepted a job as an elementary teacher for a virtual school. In preparation for becoming a mom, Nicole knew that she wanted to be able to be home with our children and have more flexibility to be a very present parent in the lives of our children. She currently can work as a teacher from home, supporting families who are homeschooling their children here in Wisconsin. As teachers, we both have a ton of flexibility in the summer and can't wait to start making more family memories with our child. We feel so lucky that we can both do something we love while having the time and flexibility to grow our family.
Our Leisure Time
During our free time, we love to spend time together and with family. Our neighborhood has the most amazing walking trails with boardwalks along a peaceful river. We are always finding new places to explore and to be outside in our community. There are many state parks within an hour of our home and we love to go hiking or spend the day at the beach in the summer. When we are at home, we love to experiment with cooking new recipes, binge watch a series on Netflix, or just relax in our living room together. We are also avid readers. Alex is currently about half way through the Game of Thrones book series and Nicole loves reading a variety of different types of books. Last Christmas, Nicole's dad made us a "little library" box for our front yard. We recently installed it and we love the opportunity that it gives us to share books with our neighbors. We love to go out and see which books our neighbors have added to the shared box. Nicole also loves to stock it full of fun seasonal children's books for the kids in the neighborhood to enjoy. It is a great way for us to connect with our neighbors as well.
Our Family Traditions
We are lucky to be close with both of our extended families. One fun tradition in Alex's family is "Cookie Day" every year on the day after Thanksgiving. Instead of braving the Black Friday crowds, his family cozies up in their lake house, turns up the Christmas music, and bakes lots of holiday treats! Alex's brothers both have children of their own now so we love to help the kids decorate cookies. Alex's mom even sets up a gingerbread cookie scavenger hunt every year around the house. It is a day with lots of love and laughter.
One fun tradition in Nicole's family is Labor Day weekend at her grandparent's cabin in northern Wisconsin. It is a tiny cabin and the family crams in with people sleeping on fold-out couches and airbeds all over the floor. We love to spend our last weekend of the summer at the cabin soaking up the last rays of summer sunshine. We grill our favorite foods and sit out by the campfire in the evening. It is the perfect end to the summer!
As a couple, our favorite tradition is a quiet New Year's Eve at home. Every year, we make delicious new appetizers to enjoy throughout the evening. We play board games together and watch the New Year's Eve specials on TV. It is such a fun, special tradition for the two of us.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a small rural town outside of a larger city in Wisconsin. We truly feel that we have the best of both worlds with our quiet, safe, peaceful daily life in a small town and a half hour drive to a big city with unique restaurants and lots of events for families. We've lived in our three bedroom home for just over 3 years. We've worked hard to fix it up over the past few years and have a few more projects on our list to complete. We love the opportunity to turn our house into a home for our family. We enjoy spending time in our living room which overlooks a peaceful pond in our backyard. We love the community in which we live. Alex plays home talent baseball in the summer for a local team and we spend a lot of time at the ball park. There are many children and families playing at the park every Sunday and we know that our future children will have lots of neighborhood friends to play with. We envision warm summer afternoons of Nicole and our children watching the baseball games and playing at the park, followed by ice cream for the whole family.
Our Extended Families
We are so lucky to have wonderfully supportive families. We both grew up with a lot of love in our family homes. Both of our parents live within one mile of one another. They are close friends and we love all getting together.
One of our favorite things to do with Alex's family is to spend time at the family lake house. Alex's parents, his brothers, and their families spend several weeks during the summer at the lake house. It is a very unique, historical place about an hour from our home. The home used to be an ice company and has ten bedrooms so there is plenty of room for cousins to play and run around together! During the day, we spend time boating on the lake or playing with the kids in the water. In the evenings, we roast marshmallows on the campfire or curl up inside to watch a family movie.
Nicole's family loves to travel as a family. In the past three years, we have traveled to Australia and Ireland together. There will be many more trips within the U.S. and internationally for us to enjoy with Nicole's family and our future children. When we aren't traveling with Nicole's family, we love to get together to play board games and enjoy family meals.
Our immediate and extended families are so excited to grow our family through adoption. Their hearts are already filled with love for your child.
From Us to You
We are so humbled and grateful that you are taking the time to learn more about us. We hope that by reading about us, you will be able to picture the nurturing, loving, supportive, and laughter-filled home that we will provide for your child. We also want to thank you for your strength and we admire your courage in choosing adoption for your baby. Please trust that we will care for and love your child with our whole hearts.
We have been together as a couple for about 9 years and married for about 5.5 years. We knew very soon after we met that we were meant to be together. We feel that we have the perfect balance of similar interests and personalities while each having our own strengths in our relationship. Alex is caring, consistent, and light-hearted. Nicole is kind, compassionate, and driven. We love to make one another laugh and we truly are one another's best friend. From the very beginning, we knew that we would be parents someday and cannot wait to add a child to our happy little family.
We tried to conceive a child naturally for about two years before considering other options for growing our family. We were immediately drawn to the idea of adoption and knew right away that it is the right choice for us. We know that we will love and care for our child the same way that we would love a child that is biologically related to us. There are many years of fun family events, adventurous vacations, quiet evenings at the ballpark, cuddles on the couch, and laughter around the kitchen table in our future. We excited to share those special moments with our child.
We recently spread the news to our family and friends that we are choosing to grow our family through adoption. We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our loved ones and we know that love for our future child is growing in their hearts as well. We are so excited to not only bring a baby into our caring home, but also into the lives of our close family and friends. In choosing adoption as a way to grow our family, we also have open minds and hearts about accepting our child's birth family into our lives in a way that you are comfortable with. You are important to us and to our child and we will always care about you as well. We will be thrilled to send you emails with updates and photos of your child. We would love to send you handmade cards and art projects in the mail. We would love to connect with you and your family over video calls and make plans to visit you if that is something that you are interested in. Please know that regardless of your preferences for contact with your child, we will always honor you in our family and make sure that your child understands your reasons for placing him or her for adoption. We believe that you have made such a brave and selfless decision in choosing adoption for your child and we will always be grateful for your choice.
We are excited at the possibility of getting to know you and feel so honored that you are reading about us. We will be thinking about you and wishing you the best as you make a tough decision about what is best for you and your child.Take care,
Alex & Nicole
