Thank you for reading my profile and for your consideration. I believe that creating a family through adoption is a gift to be treasured. I have so much love and joy to offer a child and I am very excited to be a mom. I would appreciate your choice for me to become your child's parent. It would mean everything to me.
Why I Chose Adoption
I am very excited to form a family through adoption. Adoption has a place in my family as my cousin is a birth mother to twins and my other cousin has two children through adoption.
I have wanted to be a mother for a long time. Adoption was always a consideration because of my family background. As the years went by and my longtime partner and I separated because I wanted to become a parent and he did not, adoption seemed like the best fit. I am not giving up on the idea of finding my life partner, but I do not want to wait until I do in order to become a mom.
As a teacher, I view my profession as a large part of my lifestyle. I love to get up early and plan for the day. All day I work with great students who inspire me to do my best. Many of my students have challenges and it is my job to figure out how to support their learning and be as creative, fun and caring as possible. I love being a teacher and it is a big part of my identity. I hope to bring many of the lessons that I have learned from being a teacher to raising my own child. My students often ask me why I do not have children and they would be very excited if I became a mother.
Another lifestyle focus of mine is being healthy. I love to run and practice yoga. I do this on my own but also with friends. There is a good community or runners that I belong to and we support each other.
Finally, my friends and family are also very important to me. I speak to my parents every night and I enjoy spending time with friends in my spare time. Building and maintaining these relationships is very important to me.
Fun Facts About Me:
My House and Neighborhood
I live in Boston, Massachusetts. Near where I live, there are community playgrounds every few blocks. The neighborhood is family-friendly and many of the neighbors decorate their homes for holidays. Also, close to where I live is a large park where young people play soccer and there is a community pool. The public library is in a beautiful building full of activities for children and families.
The majority of people in my neighborhood are long-time residents. I have a very nice apartment that is full of light. It has two bedrooms, a large kitchen (great to make meals) a big living room (perfect for playing!) and a dining room. My favorite room is the living room because, even though I am in the city, I can look out the window and see trees. My cat, Gizmo, loves looking out the window at the bird feeder!
My sister lives in the neighborhood of Jamaica Plain and I spend a lot of time with her. Near her place, there is a large pond for families to walk around, cute stores (including a neighborhood toy store!) and it is also family friendly with many local festivals.
I look forward to enjoying the historic and beautiful city of Boston with a child. It was a big part of my experience growing up and I loved living here.
My Extended Family
My extended family is amazing and I look forward to spending time to them December for our annual visit. My parents, my aunt and uncle and my cousins live in Arizona. My sister and I travel there and we spend time hanging out with my immediate family and then with my extended family.
My parents, my sister and I celebrate Christmas by having an ugly sweater exchange and cooking. These past few years we also organize Secret Santa and it is fun to learn who we got a gift from for the year.
We then go to my aunt's house to see my extended family. My cousin Rebecca has two children through adoption and two biological children so the house is filled with the sound of four boys playing. Some years my other cousins come as well and they bring their young children and it is even more fun. As a family, we go to the park or we play in my aunt's pool. It is wonderful to have different generations and parts of my family together.
My entire family has expressed support and joy that I am pursuing a family through adoption. My sister, who lives close by to me in Boston, is very supportive and looking forward to becoming an aunt. My parents will visit often and I am sure we will do the things we loved to do when I was young. We will go to Castle Island and look at the ocean, go to the Children's Museum and just enjoy being together.
From Me to You
I am sure that this journey is not easy for you. Please let me tell you about myself so that I seem like less of a stranger to you. I am so excited to become a mother and I feel that I have a lot to offer.
I came to adoption after a few long-term relationships did not work out. I have not given up on finding a partner to share my life with, but I really do not want to wait any more to become a parent. As a public school teacher in Boston, I love working with my young students every day and I want to be able to come home to my own child. It would mean the world to me.
I am looking to become an adoptive parent by myself, but I will not be alone. I have a sister, Margo, who lives close by and is looking forward to becoming an aunt. I have many close friends who are also excited to help me with whatever I may need. My parents retired to live in Arizona and they will visit frequently to enjoy their grandchild.
In my extended family, my cousin Lisa is a birth mother to twin boys and my other cousin Rebecca has two children through adoption. An adoption journey is something that is very normal in my family and any child that comes to join my family through adoption will be accepted and supported without question.
There are so many things that I look forward to sharing with a child. I have a love of reading and my mother read to me nightly. I want to do this with my own child. My sister and I often played in the park or enjoyed living in the wonderful city of Boston and I want to share this with my child. I love to do things outside such as sledding, walking or going camping and this passion is also something I look forward to doing. I also speak Spanish and have traveled quite a bit to South America, Asia and Africa ?" I really want to raise a child who is a citizen of the world and who can understand the struggles and joys that people experience all over. Community and volunteering are important to me and this is something I would like to pass on as a family tradition.
I want you to know that I truly believe that whatever choice you make for yourself and your child will be the right one. I would like to assure you that, if you do decide to choose adoption for your child and for me to be your child's parent ?" this will be treasured and you will be spoken about with love and respect. I would love to send you letters and pictures of your child and I would also welcome the opportunity to send you emails or visit with you in the future. I realize this is a lot to think about right now and I support your decisions for openness now and in the future as they may change.
Thank you for your consideration and I wish you the best.
