Adam & Cassie
Thank you for considering us as potential parents for your child. We take the role of being a parent very seriously and it is one we are thrilled to take on. We have so much love, laughter and happiness to share with a child. If given the opportunity, we will give your child everything they need and deserve. We look forward to you joining us on this journey.
Our Leisure Time
We love spending time together, whether it's just the two of us or with friends and family. We enjoy quiet movie nights alone or having dinner at our favorite restaurant, but also enjoy spending time with friends playing darts, arcade games or laser tag. We can get quite competitive. During the summer time we spend much of our time outdoors playing with our friends' children. We have a blast jumping on the trampoline, riding bikes and drawing with sidewalk chalk. Many times, we are envious of the things our friends can do with their children, that we would feel awkward doing on our own.
We also enjoy home improvement projects and it always seems like there is a list of things we want to complete. Adam is very good at woodworking and enjoys building furniture, including a rocking horse he made for our first nephew. We enjoy working on projects together like refinishing our kitchen table and reupholstering chairs, and refinishing Cassie's childhood dresser for the nursery. Cassie also enjoys decorating the house and getting a little more crafty with handmade gifts.
We can't wait to have a little one and look forward to sharing many of these hobbies and talents with a child.
We have been very open with friends and family in discussing the adoption process and we don't intend for any of that to change as the child grows. Their adoption will be something the child will always know. At a very young age we plan to incorporate children's books about adoption and even create our own photo books that tell the child's story. As the child grows and understands more we will encourage questions and open, honest discussion. We want the child to feel comfortable asking questions and exploring themselves and their heritage so they know their history, where they came from and how much they are loved by so many people/families.
Our Life Priorities
Cassie has always wanted to be a mom. Even as a little girl, the one thing she wanted to be when she grew up was a mother. We both come from families with a stay-at-home parent and always think about how great this was as a child. Cassie works in the non-profit sector educating children and the community on the dangers of substance use and how addiction can impact a family. While her profession is extremely rewarding, she can't wait to be a stay-at-home mom. Adam works as an engineer and has a very flexible schedule and can even work from home when needed, which is great because family will always be our first priority.
Our Extended Families
Cassie has two sisters and Adam has two brothers. We both had a similar upbringing with hardworking fathers and stay-at-home mothers. Both our parents live within a 2 hour drive and Cassie's parents frequently come to stay the weekend. That time is spent playing board games and enjoying each other's company. Adam's family enjoys DIY projects and time spent with them frequently includes the family getting together to work on a project.
Since our nephews live in Colorado, we usually take a couple of trips each year to visit them. We also enjoy vacationing with our families and most recently took our first ever family vacation to Mexico with both of our parents. Both of our parents are incredibly excited for this child to join our family. Cassie's parents have 2 grandchildren, and this will be the first grandchild for Adam's parents. Needless to say, this child will be spoiled!
Our House and Neighborhood
We love our community and live on the outskirts of a suburb of a large city. We have all the convenience of living near a large city, but also enjoy the quaintness of a rural area. We don't mind the short drive to visit the many great museums, festivals and large zoo in the city. We live near several large parks and two pools and in a family friendly town with lots of activities to enjoy. Our neighborhood is a fun place to live! It is filled with children of all ages who enjoy playing together. Every year neighbors host annual gatherings, which include a block party and a large fourth of July festival.
Our ranch style home has a fenced in backyard that would be perfect for a playset. When we aren't outside we spend much of our time in our basement, which Adam just recently finished himself. This is the perfect family area and has become a favorite hangout place for the neighbors and their kids.
From Us to You
When we got married we both knew we wanted a family. We tried to have children for several years, but unfortunately were unable to conceive biological children. Since we always knew we wanted more than one child, we knew adoption would most likely play a role in our lives for growing our family. While we struggled to accept we wouldn't be able to have biological children, we were also excited about the journey that awaited us with adoption.
We love each other very much and have been married for over four years. We pride ourselves on being honest and open about everything, which was immensely helpful as we struggled through infertility. Our relationship has grown in ways we never thought imaginable because of the challenges (and even some triumphs) we have experienced as a couple. We are truly partners in everything we do and look forward to working together through the challenge of parenting.
We spend much of our spare time working on projects together and enjoy sharing our skills and talents with each other. We love being silly with each other and laughter is very important in our relationship. Laughter is one thing you will always find in abundance in our household. We are very excited for how our life will change with the addition of a child. There are many wonderful opportunities for children to learn and have fun where we live, and we are thrilled we will finally be able to participate in these activities with a child of our own. Our life will most likely look very different with a child than it does now, but we are excited and humbled by that opportunity. We realize that parenting is not always easy, but we expect it to be the most rewarding thing we will ever do.
Your child will be welcomed into a stable, loving home with two very strong parents. We consider ourselves to have very strong morals and believe in showing everyone the love and respect they deserve. Our families are both very close, and have been very supportive through our medical struggles, and now our decision to adopt. They are incredibly excited to have another child in the family, and they will support us in raising a loving child who respects others. We intend to instill in the child our values of a strong work ethic along with a love for learning.
We will share all of this with you through photos, letters and emails if desired. We will always be open and honest with the child when discussing adoption and lovingly share their adoption story with them from an early age. They will always know and understand how much you love them and how hard your decision was. We will support whatever type of relationship you envision with your child and are open to making arrangements for visits through video chat, or in person. We are committed to working together to create a positive and healthy relationship and will always respect the courage and strength you showed through this difficult decision.
We know that adoption will be an amazing experience and we cannot wait to finally be able to share our love with a child. Please know we will love this child with every fiber of our being.
Much love and respect,
Adam & Cassie
