Our Leisure Time

Cozy in Our Pj's - Ready for a Movie!

Leisure time for us is all about kicking back together in the living room. We put on our most comfortable sweats, put together a feast of all different snacks, and put on a movie. We all snuggle up on the couch and enjoy the moment. We don't know who loves this more ... us or the dogs!

When we're at the beach we like to take long bike rides and stop at different places we've been before. We also really enjoying taking walks with the dogs and letting them run around in the sand and up to the ocean. Seeing them look so free and happy while running around is so fun for us.

On Sundays, we make a big Sunday dinner and meal prep lunches for the week. We both enjoy cooking and we tend to have a great time while doing it together. Pinterest gives us great inspiration to try new foods and different recipes.

Our Family Traditions

We Love Disney!

We have so many family traditions and we love every single one!

Thanksgiving Eve: To us, this is the kick-off to the Christmas seasons. So on the eve of thanksgiving we exchange Christmas themed pajamas and watch Miracle on 34th Street. In the morning, we watch the parade on T.V. and make a warm breakfast before we head out to see our extended families. We've been doing this for over 10 years now!

Christmas Eve: This is a big one that involves our extended families. Both sides of family celebrate Christmas on the eve and it's something that both sides have done since we were kids. We both have the fondest memories of grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins all gathered together to celebrate the season. Christmas carols, food, desserts and presents are all things that we both vividly remember. Today, we continue that tradition by hosting Christmas Eve at our house for all of our family. It's amazing now to see Christmas and this tradition through the eyes of the children in the family. It brings us right back to our own childhood.

Annual Disney World Trip: Ever since our honeymoon we've planned a trip back to Disney! We have so many traditions within this tradition! Disney is one of those places that cannot be replicated by anything else. It is truly magical and even more so when you there with the ones you love.

Fun Facts About Us:

  • We love Disney World and Disney movies. We make a Disney visit every year.
  • We own a deli right in our neighborhood. And the cool part is that Andy's parents' owned a deli when he was growing up. So it's been in his blood since a kid.
  • We both enjoy working out like lifting weights, running and doing recreational activities.
  • We have two young Chihuahuas, Olivia and Slash. They are our world and they'll do just about anything for a treat and a belly rub.
  • Shannen's parents own a beach house so we get to the beach anytime we want which is so awesome.
  • Both of our sisters' have two girls so we have two nieces on each side of the family.
  • We're obsessed with Christmas so we host an annual Christmas Eve party at our house and play the white elephant present exchange.
  • One our favorite traditions is our Christmas pajama exchange followed by watching Miracle on 34th Street the night before Thanksgiving.
  • Both of our parents' are still married! Andy's parents just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary and Shannen's parents celebrated their 36th — and we all got married in the month of October!
  • We watch an episode of Modern Family almost every night.

    Our House and Neighborhood

    Our Home

We are very fortunate to live in a small, tight-knit town built around family and tradition. The borough celebrates every holiday such as our annual Fourth of July celebration including fireworks and picnics in the park. St. Patrick's day is another fun event that includes a big parade down our main street. And one of our all-time favorites is the day after Thanksgiving when the mayor holds an event for all residents to come and light up the borough Christmas Tree.

You'll find many beautifully landscaped parks with swing sets, benches, game fields and of course a ton playing children.

We live in a single-family home that sits on almost a half an acre of land. The yard is fenced in and beautifully landscaped with a huge patio and porch. The first floor is an open floor plan with a ton a room for entertaining and fun. The second floor has 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms and the 3rd floor contains a bedroom. Our favorite rooms are the living room and outside porch. It's were we spend so much time together and where we entertain family and friends.

    Our Extended Families

    Always Time to Visit Family

We are lucky and grateful that both sides of our family live very close. All of Andy's side actually live in our neighborhood/borough.

His parents are the most incredible and generous people. We sometimes call Andy's mom Saint Debbie. They are both already proud grandparents to our amazing nieces Peyton and Sawyer. Andy's sister Amy and brother in-law Rhett, are the loving parents' of the girls.

    With Our Nieces

Shannen's family lives only a few miles away. Her parents' are also incredible and so loving and supportive. Her Sister and brother in-law have two beautiful daughters, Sophie and Eveylyn. We melt when we're with those sweet little girls. Shannen's also has a brother who recently got engaged and is getting married this spring.

The support and love has been more than we could have ever imagined. Both sides of the family cried with joy when we announced we were adopting.

Family gatherings usually take place around the dining table or in the living room. You'll find us telling stories of past times or planning our next family vacation. Christmas Eve is a big celebration that happens on both sides of the family. It involves a ton of food, presents, music and games. We think we have something very special because both of our families are very bonded and supportive. And it's a huge bonus that both sides love being with one another. We couldn't ask for anything better than that!

    From Us to You

When we started to write this letter we thought what do we tell someone that we never met and could potentially become the most important person in our lives?

We want to tell you everything about us and we wish you could tell us everything about you. For now, we'll start with an introduction and some background about us.

We are Andy and Shannen. We are a fun, energetic, and loving couple. Most times you'll find us in the kitchen cooking up a yummy yet healthy meal. Other times we're on the couch snuggled up with our dogs watching a movie or one of our favorite TV shows. We both really enjoy expressing our creative sides. Andy has a passion for playing the guitar so whenever he can he's playing one of his favorite songs. Shannen's always working on some kind of craft project or decorating the house. Also, we're that couple that is proud to call one another their best friend. We know it sounds cliche but it's the truth. We met in 2006 and have been loving life together ever since.

It's also probably good for you to know a few of our obsessions. They are; our families, our dogs, Disney, Christmas and the town we live in.

We LOVE where we live. It's a small suburb outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It's one of those places where everyone either knows you by name or knows someone that is related to you. It is what makes this town such a family friendly environment to grow up in. Andy was born and raised here so it's pretty neat that we now own a own deli right in town. All of his side of the family lives here. We are very grateful for that because we are always getting together to celebrate birthdays, holidays and achievements. Shannen's family is only a short drive away so we are always planning visits to see them. We actually visit pretty often because we have two young nieces that are growing up way too fast and we don't want to miss a moment.

We are so excited to tell you about our big family vacation at the New Jersey shore. All of us (parents/siblings/nieces) go for an entire week and it's an absolute blast. We look forward to it every year. You'll find us all on the beach playing in the ocean, building sand castles and taking boat rides in the bay. During that week we plan a day where we do a family picnic that includes games, music and of course lot of cooking and eating. So much fun!

The single most important thing we want to express here is our strong desire to become parents. We both have so much love to give to a child. Just thinking about life as a family of three is so thrilling and heartwarming. To share our traditions, provide love and stability is something we so wish to be able give. It is very important to us that the child we bring into our family knows from the beginning that they are adopted and so blessed to have twice as many people that love him/her. We also want to stay in contact with you if you so wish to do so. Pictures, emails, phone calls and if possible visits are everything we envision in this relationship. We are all in this together!

Thank you! We wish nothing but the best for you and your child.
