Our Favorite Vacation Spot

Exploring the Sand Dunes

We love to travel and see new places. One of our favorite destinations is the Great Lakes area in Michigan. We travel there often with our family. We spend our time exploring the sand dunes, boating, swimming, visiting lighthouses, walking the beaches, picking blueberries, and eating lots of ice cream. We also enjoy camping. We spend time together by hiking and cooking dinner and s’mores over the campfire. Sharon loves to bring her camera along and take photos of our family and the views.

Vacations were a big part of both of our childhoods. Sharon's family visited state parks and David's family often went to theme parks. We can't wait to share these special traditions and our love for travel with our child.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

We Can't Wait to be Parents!

Sharon About David:

David is patient, gentle, kind, and even-keeled. He loves to be active and play sports, especially soccer. He is adventurous and enjoys trying new things. He is supportive of those around him and regularly goes out of his way to help coworkers, family members, and friends. He is a favorite with his nieces and nephews because he always takes the time to listen to what they have to say. He is an encouragement to me in my faith and keeps me grounded. David is very loving and I know that he will be an incredible dad.

David About Sharon:

Sharon is creative, loving, and attentive. She finds ways to connect individually with her students at school while helping them express themselves. She loves her family and takes the time to show them by spending quality time with them and helping with projects. Sharon is very thoughtful and loves to give meaningful gifts. She has a deep faith in God. She is a great listener, to her family, friends, students, and me. I can’t wait to see her caring and thoughtful personality even more as she becomes a mom.

Cultural Diversity

Honoring diversity in our family is not something we take lightly. We have taken the time to seek out places that embrace diversity as we do. We belong to a church that has many adoptive families who look like ours will. We also plan for our child to receive an education within the diverse school district where Sharon works. We celebrate diversity and know that our child will be able to interact with individuals from a variety of cultures within our family, among our friends, at church, and at school. We are excited to learn more about our child’s culture and heritage and welcome the diversity that will bring to our family.

Our Extended Families

David's Family

We both come from tight-knit families that live near us. David’s family has lots of fun traditions for each holiday and never misses the chance to attend sporting events, movies, and concerts together. David has an older brother and an older sister, who is married and has two young kids. We love to share meals, swim, play games, and relax together as a family.

Sharon has a big family including her Mom and Dad, 4 older married siblings, and 9 nieces and nephews. Over the years, Sharon’s family has traveled a lot, especially to camp and take backpacking trips. Family dinners, vacations, and holiday celebrations are just some of the ways we spend quality time together.

Sharon's Family

The last 7 years have been a very sweet time in our family as we have loved welcoming our 11 nieces and nephews. We spend as much time as we possibly can with them and know that they will be amazing cousins to our baby. As we have shared our plans to adopt, everyone has been incredibly supportive and excited to welcome another baby into the family.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Cozy Home

We live in a diverse neighborhood within a suburb of a medium-sized Missouri city. Our home is centrally located between our jobs, a vibrant downtown area, and the homes of our family members, allowing us to spend more time at home and with our families. Our city is rich with culture and we take full advantage of the museums, art galleries, and local treasures. During our 5 years in our house, David has enjoyed remodeling it and adding our own personality. We have loved seeing our house become our home. We have a big, fenced backyard with large trees. Our nieces and nephews love to play outside and swing in our hammock.

Our traditions include celebrating Halloween with a bonfire, decorating for Christmas with lights and a tree, as well as frequent walks with our dogs through our neighborhood. Our neighborhood is the perfect place for a family. We can’t wait to create more fun memories with our child.

From Us to You

Thank you for taking time to read our profile and get to know us a little bit better. We are in awe of the strength and love you are showing in making this important decision for your baby’s future.

We have been married for six years, but have been friends since junior high school. Before we got married in 2012, we had already discussed our hopes for having children, specifically through adoption. We hoped for a diverse family, including both adopted and biological children. When we felt we were ready to grow our family several years ago, we had not expected to encounter infertility. Although it was a difficult season in our life, we kept looking forward to the time when we would adopt. Our faith in God deepened during this time, and we felt his hand leading us to adopt. We have learned that even when things don’t go the way we think they will, we have a God who has a good plan for us. We feel anchored in our faith and we know that this will provide a constant and safe foundation for our family. We are thrilled to be starting our family through adoption.

As we have prepared for adoption, we have dreamed of some of the ways we will invest in our child. Our biggest priority will be spending time together as a family. We are excited to travel to see new places together, teach our child to play sports, and help them as they choose and develop their own hobbies. We are grateful to have jobs that will allow both of us to stay home part-time to give our child time, attention, and love. We can’t wait to nurture and provide for our child’s dreams and help them pursue their interests and passions.

Two years ago, we celebrated the birth of our nephew Daniel. Sharon’s sister and her husband had been hoping to adopt for close to seven years and finally welcomed their son. The joy of having him in our family made us even more confident that we are ready to adopt. It has been so exciting to watch our family grow through transracial adoption. We are grateful that adoption continues to be a unique and beautiful part of our family’s story.

We welcome your continued investment and participation in your child’s life. We will celebrate the role you choose to play, whatever that may be. We are happy to send pictures, updates, stories, and emails to include you in their milestones. We are eager to build a healthy relationship with you. We will always speak highly of you and honor your significance in our family. We are open to discussing the forms of communication you are comfortable with. We would consider visits, and hope to be able to exchange letters and pictures, texts, and/or talk on the phone. We hope that you feel like you know us just a bit better after viewing our profile, and look forward to knowing you better in the future.

With love and respect,

David & Sharon
