Adoption in Our Lives

Christina With Her Grandmother & Sister

Adoption is very personal to us because Christina was adopted by her paternal grandparents when she was six years old. Christina's parents were just graduating high school when Christina was born. Within 18 months, her younger sister came along and her parent's soon found themselves very overwhelmed. Her dad was working three jobs at one point just to make ends meet. Eventually, Christina's paternal grandparents stepped up and took in Christina and her sister until the future could be figured out. After a couple of years, the adoption was finalized.

Christina loves her grandparents and considers them to be her mom and dad. She still remains in contact with her birth father today. Adoption was a great way for Christina and her sister to get a full chance at life. Even though she was not raised by her father, she still considers him her dad. We look forward to creating a similar relationship between our child and their birth family so that everyone feels included and welcome in our family circle.

Our Leisure Time

Oshkosh Air Show

Mark's favorite hobbies include building models of cars and airplanes, playing video games with his friends, enjoying air shows and fixing/riding his motorcycle.

Christina's hobbies include: painting, reading, playing computer games, going on drives around the countryside and checking out historical sites around town.

One tradition we try to do every year is attend the annual Airventure Air Show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. It is the biggest air show in the world and takes place for a week every July. We try to go every year and see all the neat new and old airplanes, enjoy day and night air shows and check out some of the new aviation technology coming to the public. We really look forward to sharing this fun traditions with a child. It has lots of things for children to do, and we cannot wait to see the wonder on their face during the big air show. We also look forward to taking our child to the local zoos and children museums nearby.

Our Pup, Fox

We currently have one dog named Fox. We got her from the shelter when she was puppy and she has been our baby ever since. We love taking her on walks or car rides to different places. We have had multiple people state that she looks like a wild fox or dingo. She loves to go to Christina's grandma's house and play with her two dogs while we are visiting Christina's hometown.

In early 2018, we lost our pet hedgehog named Pickles. We loved to play with her, give her baths and treats. We plan to get another hedgehog in the near future.

Pets are important to us because they help with stress relief and prevents one from feeling lonely. Pets are very good for children because it teaches them how to be kind, be responsible and gentle. A pet can also help a child who is lonely or sad. Fox has been wonderful for our family and we look forward to her meeting your child and becoming best friends.

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

We recently moved into a new home near the Kansas City metropolitan area. The suburban neighborhood has many families with small children whom are seen playing outside most days. The neighborhood has ample play space with sidewalks and a community swimming pool. There are multiple schools nearby which provide playgrounds for children of all ages to enjoy. The neighbors are very friendly and will always wave hello to you as you drive by.

One of our most favorite times of the year in our community is Halloween, where many of the neighbors will put fire pits out in their driveway and give out candy while socializing with neighbors and friends.

The neighborhood is located just outside of the city, but close enough to the metro to allow for lots of different activities to explore or discover.

Our home is a split foyer with three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms with lots of space to play in the finished basement. We also have a large backyard made for throwing a ball back and forth or just running around.

Our Extended Families

Mark's Parents

Mark's family lives just an hour and a half from us and we visit them every weekend we can. Mark is the second oldest of four children. His family likes to work on motorcycles, go swimming, play video games and play music. He has many nieces and nephews under the age of 10 that we get to play with on a regular basis.

The Whole Family Together

Christina's family lives about three hours away. We visit them at least once a month. When her family gets together, they like to play board games, watch movies, explore new places in Missouri and play with the dogs. Christina, along with her younger sister, was adopted by her paternal grandparents but gets to see her father frequently in her hometown. Christina is the oldest of 13 grandchildren and is proud of being a role model for them all as they grow to be caring and productive adults.

From Us to You

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our profile and get to know us a bit. We understand that this is a difficult decision for you and cannot imagine how you are feeling at this moment. We want to assure you that we promise to give your child a safe, stable, loving, and nurturing home.

We have been married for almost five years and have been trying to conceive a child of our own for three of those years. After many discussions, doctor appointments, becoming certified foster parents and disappointments, we both decided that adoption was best for our family. Adoption has touched us in many ways and we both felt that adoption was the right path for us all along. Both of our families are extremely supportive of this decision and have both offered to help any way they can. We spend a lot of time with our families and plan to continue this in the future with your child. Your child will have many children to hang out and play with on a weekly basis. Our neighborhood is a safe, quiet, family-orientated place, perfect for your child to grow and play.

We are looking forward to the next step in our journey of becoming parents. We look forward to welcoming your child, as well as you, to our family. We will share your child's growth and experiences through letters, photos and e-mails. We will make sure that the child knows how much you love them and how hard this decision was for you to make. The growth and nurturing of your child will be a journey that we will all explore together.

We plan to teach your child the importance of kindness, respect, humility and responsibility. We will also encourage your child to explore and discover their own talents and interests. We will support them and guide them to be strong, confident, and productive individuals within the community. We value the importance of education and the idea that you are never done learning. We look forward to traveling to new places and trying new things to help the child expand their perception of the world. We hope to expose the child to different foods, cultures, types of people so that they understand their community and the world around them.

We thank you again for considering us as potential parents for your child. We cannot imagine how you feel at this time, but we hope that our profile has helped in some way. We have been looking forward to being parents for a very long time and will provide all the love, devotion and support that we have for you and your child. We hope to become as much a part of your family as your child would become part of ours. We appreciate the chance to introduce ourselves a little better and hope to continue this amazing adoption journey with you.
