Brenna & Kristin
Hello. We hope you are feeling well and have people around you who love you. We invite you to get to know us a little better and hope we can show you a glimpse of how much it would mean to adopt your son or daughter into our family.
Adoption in Our Lives
Our lives have been very enriched by adoption. Kristin was adopted by her father as a young girl and he has provided her with love, dependability, and support. He always took a very active role in her life - coaching sports and encouraging her through graduate school. Brenna's niece and nephew were adopted internationally as infants and we have loved incorporating their cultural traditions into our own. For example, we celebrate Chinese New Year together. This year our son even got to take the dragon costume in to school and his whole class participated in a parade there.
Because of these positive experiences we decided to build our family through adoption. In 2014 we were blessed with the birth and adoption of our son. Him becoming a part of our family confirmed that adoption was the right choice for us. We are proud of his Puerto Rican-Caucasian heritage and look forward to incorporating more Puerto Rican cultural traditions like making pastels and roasted pork together on Christmas Eve. We will celebrate all of our children's racial and cultural beauty.
We really value and enjoy our time together as a family. Even on a busy day one of the things we look forward to is coming home, cooking together, and sitting down for a meal. On days we have off together we like relaxing, spending time outside, visiting with friends and family, working on projects around the house, going to the children's museum or zoo, and watching our favorite sports teams play. We enjoy going on vacations several times a year. In September you will find us relaxing at the same beach we have been going to for over 10 years. We can't wait to share this special place with our next child. We love spending our day listening to the waves, having a barbecue, and then finishing the night off with an ice cream cone on the porch. Our son is especially excited to show his brother or sister how to jump over the waves.
Education We Will Provide
Education is very important to both of us. We moved to our current school district because it is one of the best in the state and country. This will give our children a great foundation for whatever it is they choose to do in life- whether that is being a mechanic, a scientist, or anything else. There are many sports and extracurricular activities they can participate in if they choose. In addition to school, we will provide him or her with other important learning experiences such as volunteering, going to museums, seeing live music, and other new adventures. We also started a college fund for our son when he was a baby and we plan on doing the same for our next child.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a four bedroom, four bathroom house close to a large city in Pennsylvania. There is a playroom on the first floor and a finished basement. We love our location because we are close to everything (shopping, parks, schools, downtown), but also live in a wooded and scenic area. We live a few miles away from a lovely farm and orchard that we visit throughout the year. We especially enjoy picking pumpkins there in the fall.
Our house sits on a big lot with plenty of room for running and playing. There is a swing set and playhouse that our son and his friends enjoy using all year round. We are lucky to have a lot of families near us with young children. A large park right up the road has miles of trails, playgrounds, a large pool with a splash park, and a big lake. We are also just a short drive from a big city with lots of things to do like museums and major league sporting events.
Our Extended Families
We are very lucky to have close relationships with our families and friends. Kristin's parents live a few hours away, and visit us several times a month. Brenna's parents live a short drive away and they spend the day with us at least one day a week. They are building a home right next door to us, which we are really looking forward to! Her oldest sister and her family live just a few minutes away. She and her husband have two wonderful kids who were adopted. Brenna's other sisters live out of the area, but we enjoy visiting them and spending holidays together. Brenna also has several cousins in the area who have young children and we get together regularly.
This year for Easter, our niece and nephew made a egg hunt for our son. He had such fun that they ended up re-hiding the eggs at least 10 times so he could find them again!
We have a great group of friends - many of which also have small children. We love getting together as a group for cookouts and celebrations.
Our family and friends are so excited about our plans to adopt another child.
From Us to You
Hi. We are Brenna and Kristin. We hope there are people around you who love and support you. We want to thank you for taking the time to get to know us a little - we hope you can get a glimpse of what our family is like and how much we would love to adopt another child.
We met over 15 years ago when Brenna was working at a restaurant and Kristin used to come in with her friends once a week. We got to know each other and within a few months we knew that there was something very special happening. We made wedding rings for each other at a jewelry workshop in New York City and were married in 2012. We adopted our son in 2014 when he was an infant. He is a caring, kind and funny kid, and is very much looking forward to being a big brother. He especially wants to share his prized toy car collection with his sibling! We are proud of his Puerto Rican-Caucasian heritage and the richness it adds to our family's already diverse fabric. We also have a gentle dog named Peppers who is wonderful with people of all ages. Kristin is generous, funny, and very dependable. She would do anything to help someone she loves. Brenna is extremely kind, patient, and loving. She always prioritizes spending time with her family and makes you feel like you are so special.
We are lucky to have very flexible and stable jobs. Kristin works part time and Brenna has every other week off. This allows us to spend a lot of time together. We are very financially stable and responsible so your child's needs will always be provided for.
Our home is a one of the best public school districts in the country. There are 4 bedrooms and bathrooms. There is a playroom on the first floor and a finished basement where our son likes to run around when the weather is too harsh outside. Our yard is almost 2 acres so there is plenty of room for playing outside; our yard also has a swing set, a play house, and a big hill for sledding in the winters. We are close with our neighbors - many of whom have young children- and there is a weekly get together with them outside when the weather is nice.
Our home is full of love and laughter. We prioritize family and friends above everything else. Our parents are very involved in our lives and love being active grandparents. Our son really looks forward them coming over to our house for the whole day once a week. We were both very close to our grandparents growing up and we are happy that our children will have the chance to grow up that way, too.
We have an open adoption with our son's biological mother. We see each other at least once a year and keep in touch with videos, pictures and texts. It is so nice to be able to have this connection and for our son to know his biological family. We would prefer an open adoption again, but of course we are open to whatever your wishes are.
It isn't easy to get to know people from a few paragraphs, but if you can take anything away from this we hope you will see that we are genuine and loving. Adoption has blessed our family in so many ways and we are so grateful. You are brave and selfless for even considering an adoption plan for your son or daughter. We wish you love and peace during this journey and invite you to get to know us better if you think we might be a good fit for you and your child.
