Eric & Amber
We are excited to take this journey of adoption as we are looking forward to being parents. Thank you for taking the time to look at our profile as we know this is a difficult decision for you. We are looking forward to sharing our lives with a child as we have so much love to give.
We live a low-key lifestyle but do enjoy going out with our friends and family. We may even throw in a vacation here and there, like our yearly trip to Maui! Being that we only live a few hours from Chicago and St. Louis, we often visit each and enjoy the cities attractions, such as a Cubs game or the St. Louis Zoo. We can’t wait to bring a child with us on these adventures.
During the cold Midwest winters, we like to sit in front of the fire and watch a movie or one of our favorite TV shows. As the warmer weather comes, we love siting on our deck, reading in the hammock, going on walks, playing fetch with our dog or grilling out with friends and family. We have 9 nieces and nephews, so we often find ourselves at a family’s house celebrating birthdays or other special occasions. We also have many friends that live close by and we love hanging out with them and their families. We’re excited to adopt a child and share with them the love and support of our family and friends.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other
Amber About Eric:
Eric is the most giving and respectful person I have ever met. He doesn’t know a stranger and always has something positive to say about people. We have fun together and he makes me laugh every day. He treats everyone around him with respect and will go out of his way to help anyone. He is eager to learn new things and is passionate about life. I love seeing him around kids as he loves to play and joke around with them. Eric’s playfulness and kindness will make him a wonderful father and I know our child will be lucky to have him as a dad.
Eric About Amber:
Amber is the most amazing woman I’ve ever met. She’s intelligent, caring and thoughtful. She loves being around our families and hanging out with our nieces and nephews. She works incredibly hard at her job and has enjoyed success because of it. We have a blast together and are always making each other laugh. Amber is very organized and makes sure our home is a clean and safe place for our family. She is fantastic with children and I have no doubt will be an amazing mother. I’m grateful that she is in my life and look forward to us becoming parents.
What it Means to be Parents
Becoming parents is something we have wanted for so long. We both grew up with great parents and want to give the same experience to a child. It isn’t something we take lightly and after 5 years of trying to conceive it isn’t something we take for granted either. We were both younger when our siblings started having children and, therefore, are very close to our nieces and nephews. That relationship makes us want to share all that love with our own child and see them grow into their own person. We are looking forward to the little milestones such as first steps, first words and first car. We want to be those parents that support their child in whatever they choose to do whether it be sports or the debate team. Being a parent is a privilege and we can’t wait to share all of our love with a child.
Our Extended Families
Fortunately, our families live in the same city as us, which makes it nice to have frequent family gatherings. Eric has an older sister and Amber has an older brother and sister. Between the two of us we have 9 nieces and nephews that range in ages 5-28. Amber is very close to her sister who happens to live one mile away with her husband and their two daughters. Eric's mom is a retired nurse, but she still does some in home care every once in a while. Sadly, Eric's dad passed away 5 years ago, but we think about him every day. Amber's mom is a receptionist at a medical facility and her dad works in sales and training. However, he is looking forward to retiring next year!
We both love hanging out with our families and going to our nieces and nephews sporting events and other activities. Eric also enjoys golfing with Amber's dad as they are both avid golfers. At least once a year we try to plan a family vacation with Amber's family, whether it be to Florida or Indiana to visit family. Our dog, Lucy, also enjoys the big family, especially during the summer cookouts when she can run around and play with the kids. No matter what we do you will find Amber's dad with a video camera in hand to document everything. Our family is so excited about our adoption journey and can't wait to meet our child.
Our House and Neighborhood
Our home has four bedrooms and plenty of room for our growing family. We spend most of our time in our family room, which has a fireplace for those cold Midwest winter nights. During the warmer months, we enjoy hanging out on our deck, grilling, working in the yard or having an impromptu driveway party with our neighbors and their families. The subdivision has a mix of younger and older families with children of all ages. We have grown particularly close to a few families in the 4 years we have been here.
Our neighborhood has many family-friendly activities throughout the year such as an ice cream social and a 4th of July parade where children decorate their bicycles and are escorted by a city fire truck. Most of the homes in our subdivision decorate during the holidays as well, which makes for a festive drive or walk around the neighborhood. We also love to walk our dog and feel very safe while doing so.
Our city has a new children’s museum, a recently updated zoo and a variety of parks that are all within a few minutes of our home. There’s a motto used very often about our city that no matter where you are, you’re only 10 minutes from anywhere.
From Us to You
Thank you for taking the time to look at our profile and learning about us. We know this is a difficult decision to make and we can promise you we will give your child the best life possible.
We officially met 7 years ago through mutual friends. However, we had known about each other for several years as the Catholic community is well-connected in our city. We dated for 2 years before getting married 5 years ago. From the very beginning, we talked about having children and worked on growing our family immediately. After a year of being unable to conceive naturally, and 4 unsuccessful cycles of IVF we took a few months to heal and looked into adoption. When we first started IVF, we talked about adoption being a possibility and so it was a natural step for us. The whole process brought us closer together. We have a couple of close friends who were adopted, as well as friends who have adopted. They spoke very highly of adoption, which made us confident in our decision.
We both grew up in the city we currently live in and are fortunate that most of our immediate families live close by. Between the two of us, we have 9 nieces and nephews whom we enjoy spending time with, whether it be during special occasions, sporting events or just enjoying warm summer nights together. Several of our friends have children as well and we have watched them grow up over the years. Being surrounded by so many children, it made use excited to start our own family. Our family, friends and neighbors are all extremely supportive and thrilled for us to go on this journey.
We are excited to raise a child with the same nurturing faith we both received growing up in the Catholic community. We also want to give a child similar memories we had growing up, such as family vacations and holiday traditions. We are looking forward to raising a child with love and letting them grow into the person they will become as an adult. We will nurture their passion of academics, sports or whatever they choose to do with their lives. Education has always been important to us and we will give a child the best avenues possible to achieve success.
Should we adopt a child of a different race than our own, we will make it a priority for them to learn about their culture and embrace their heritage. Our family, friends and community are accepting of all cultures and will follow our lead in raising a child to know their cultural background.
We will be open with a child from the very beginning of their adoption and will share their growth with you throughout the years with photos and emails. We want the child to know they are loved by so many people and how difficult it was for you to make this choice. We appreciate how hard your decision has been and are grateful you considered us.
We have been wanting this for so long and knew that one day our prayers would come true. We are excited to go on this journey and look forward to making new memories with a child of our own. We will never forget what a selfless choice you made so that we could fulfill our dream of becoming parents.
