Adoption in Our Lives

We Can't Wait to be Parents!

Our lives have been touched by adoption. Marjorie's cousin was adopted. Both of us had childhood friends who were adopted, and we have a large number of friends who have adopted - some more than once! Because so many of our loved ones were adopted or have adopted, the idea of adoption has never been a foreign concept to us. In fact, we always considered it as a possibility in creating our family.

After struggling with infertility for several years, we realize God's plan for us is to be parents through adoption, not biology. We are excited to begin this process to grow our family. We have witnessed the beauty of the adoption process and know that we have a great support system as we begin our journey. We feel fortunate that we have friends to lean on who have stood in our shoes and that our child will have many friends who share the common bond of adoption.

Leisure Time

Geaux Tigers!

We both work, so we cherish our free time together. On an average weeknight, we enjoy dinner together, take Phoebe for a walk around the neighborhood and might watch a little television. Although they vary by season, our city is blessed with many activities that we love.

We have an outdoor amphitheater that hosts a live concert series every spring and fall. We love to pack our lawn chairs and a picnic and head over to listen to music at this awesome venue. It's a great family-friendly space where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to enjoy the music and fellowship.

We both love college football and have season tickets for the local university team. Game day is always a lot of fun. We have many friends and neighbors who tailgate with us. Once or twice a season we travel to watch one of our other favorite teams play.

Individually, we have some interesting hobbies. Danny plays in an adult kickball league. When the weather is nice, he also plays Boat Ball, which is basically water polo with kayaks. Marjorie enjoys Pilates and barre classes. She also volunteers with several organizations, one of which is the local children's hospital. We both look forward to incorporating our child into our activities and welcome the addition of new activities as our child grows!

Our Dog, Phoebe

Our Sweet Phoebe

We love dogs and can't imagine our lives without one. We currently have a nine year old Morkie (Yorkshire Terrier/Maltese mix) named Phoebe. Although she is small, she has a big personality. She loves going on walks around the neighborhood. She barks and spins in circles when you get her leash out - or when she thinks you've gone to get her leash out but have gone to do something else entirely! Phoebe loves to play tug-o-war and fetch with her little toys. Sometimes she will play fetch with herself by throwing her toys in the air and then running to fetch them. She's partial to stuffed animals, and believe it or not, some are as large as she is! Phoebe is a super friendly girl. She's never met a stranger. Not surprisingly, she also happens to be the world's best cuddler.

Our Extended Families

Marjorie's Family

We both come from loving, stable families. It's so rare in this day in age, but both of our parents are still married. We were raised in Christian homes with strong family values.

Marjorie's parents, affectionately known to the grandkids as Memaw and Pop, live less than ten minutes from our house. Danny's parents, who are very excited about becoming first-time grandparents, are about twenty minutes away. Our siblings all live in our city as well. We are so fortunate that they are so close, so we can see them often. Having all of our family in one place makes holidays busy, but super fun. It's a good thing we love Christmas - it seems like we celebrate it for a week with all of our different family get-togethers!

Danny's Family

Marjorie's niece and nephew refer to us as Aunt GG and Uncle Danny. They are awesome kids and we have enjoyed cheering them on in their activities - football, soccer and dance just to name a few. Our parents are thrilled that we are expanding our family and look forward to spending lots of time with their new grandchild. Our niece and nephew can't wait to love on their new cousin!

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

We live in a four bedroom home on just over half an acre in an established neighborhood full of young families and many children. We have a vegetable garden and an herb garden in our backyard that keep us stocked with fresh herbs and veggies all summer and into early fall. We have a very large back patio where we love to grill out or sit around a fire pit. We are within minutes of a nationally-renowned zoo, a children's museum with a splash park and many other family-friendly activities.

Our neighborhood has a lovely lake with a walking path and plenty of ducks and turtles. You can always find people outside walking dogs, strolling babies, running and biking. The neighborhood association hosts many events throughout the year. The local fire department brings a fire truck to our Fourth of July parade and sprays water through its hose for all the children to play in. All the children decorate their bikes for the actual parade. Our Fall Festival hosts a pumpkin patch, bounce houses, live music and lots of food. We also have neighborhood events celebrating Easter and Christmas. These events are always a lot of fun. We are super close to our neighbors and spend a lot of time in our backyards for cookouts and just hanging out. We love our neighborhood and all of our neighbors!

From Us to You

Hello! We are Danny and Marjorie. Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents for your precious child. We want you to know the immense respect we have for you. We cannot imagine how hard of a decision this must be. And while we may not know you yet, it says so much about your character and the love you already have for this precious child that you are thoughtfully considering an adoption plan. If you were to choose us to raise your child, you would be blessing us with the greatest gift we could ever imagine, the opportunity to become a family.

We have been trying to start our family since shortly after we were married five years ago. While the journey has been longer and harder than we ever imagined, it has grown our faith, solidified our relationship and strengthened our desire for the family we have dreamed of for so long. We know that the struggles we have had will only make all the experiences that come along with parenthood that much sweeter when it does happen for us.

Our lives are filled with love, laughter, adventure and family. Whether it's going to college football games, listening to live music, eating out, spending time with extended family or just relaxing at home, we have fun together. Marjorie admires Danny's witty and adventurous nature that will make him a fun and attentive dad. Danny most admires Marjorie's compassionate and caring nature that will make her a nurturing mom. We believe these traits will help our child feel loved and always able to be themselves. We want to nurture our child by encouraging them, providing acceptance and inspiring them to reach for their dreams.

Please know that your child will be welcomed into a loving family. We both come from strong, stable families. Both of our parents are approaching their 50th wedding anniversaries and we feel so lucky to have such great examples of marriage and parenthood to model ourselves after. We have large extended families, most of whom live in our city. We also have friends, many of whom have adopted, who we consider our family. All of them are supportive and excited about our plans to grow our family through adoption.

Our promise to you is that your child will be raised in a home full of love and laughter. They will be given the freedom to become the person they choose to be and will be surrounded with love and support from our family and friends. We will keep your precious child safe, healthy, active and happy. We will do our very best to provide them with the best opportunities for happiness and success.

We welcome your continued involvement in your child's life. After all, it's because of you that we are able to experience the joy of parenthood. We are happy to send email updates, pictures and letters to mark milestones in your child's life. We are also open to making arrangements for visits when the time is right. We are eager to know you and look forward to working with you to maintain a relationship, if you so desire. We will always speak highly of you and honor you with our words and actions. Our gratitude for your selflessness will be evident in our home.

Thank you again for taking time to learn about us and for considering us as adoptive parents for your precious child. We pray that whatever decision you make, you find peace and comfort in it.

With much love and gratitude,

Danny & Marjorie
