Steven & Tara
We have always been excited to become parents and start a family of our own. We are humbled by your courage and strength in taking this difficult step. Please know that if you select us, your baby will be regarded as the biggest blessing and cherished by us every day. We promise to strive to provide a loving, stable home surrounded by lots of family and friends.
Our Leisure Time
In our leisure time, we love to travel to new and favorite places. We also like to do many outdoor activities; including camping, grilling out, and taking our dog for walks/dog park. When it's cold outside, we love to roast s'mores over a fire pit in our back yard.
We are also very connected to our church life group and are enjoy getting involved with community work through our class. Steven enjoys bicycling, ATV riding, hunting, and fishing. Tara likes to attend craft fairs with friends and family. She also enjoys shopping, movies, and swimming/pool and beach time. We both enjoy having friends and family over for cook-outs. We both love animals — any way we can get involved with any charity work that helps humane societies or animals in any way, we try to do what we can. Tara also enjoys horseback riding occasionally when she has the opportunity. We both like to attend local sporting events baseball and football games as well!
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other
Tara About Steven: Steven has an amazing sense of humor. He can always make me laugh in pretty much any situation. I know he would be a very fair and loving parent. He is very passionate and determined in his beliefs. He loves outdoor activities and would love to share those with a child and help give them exposure to different sports or activities to see what they enjoy, and I know that we would plan trips and give a child as much well rounded opportunities as we can. Steven would make a great father and love a child with all his heart.
Steven About Tara: Tara is an extremely loving person. She has always dreamed of being a mom. We have struggled with infertility issues, and that takes a toll on someone — but I admire Tara for remaining strong and determined to remain strong in her faith that one day we will be parents. We both feel that adoption is the way we are being led to grow our family. Tara is very patient, gentle and kind. I know she would make a wonderful mother and a child would be her world and her greatest gift.
What It Means to Become Parents
We have both always dreamed of being parents and having a family. It would be the greatest honor and responsibility to be able to parent a child. We love the idea of having a child to pass down our family traditions to, our faith, and values so that we feel we have made a positive contribution to the next generation. We think this is the greatest job that anyone could have - to be able to watch and help a child grow. Both of us look forward to celebrating holidays with a child and view adoption as such a beautiful way to grow our family. Both of our families have had adoptions (Tara's cousin, and our nephew) were both adopted. You would be giving us the greatest gift by considering and choosing us as a potential adoptive family. We would do everything we can to provide a child with a safe, nurturing, fun environment that he or she can grow up in and be part of a loving family unit. We look forward to being able to provide a child with the tools and education in order to do whatever they choose to do in life!
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in Arkansas in a nice, quiet neighborhood in town. We live very close to a community center where they have many different events children can get involved in - such as basketball, football, swimming, and other activities. Our neighborhood has a pool, children's play area, and also a pond that many use for fishing. Our Lab, Dax also likes to swim in the pond! There are many kids of all ages that live around us! We have some close friends that live just down the street with three small children of varying ages.
Our house is two stories. We have four bedrooms and three full baths. We have a nice size backyard where Dax loves to run around and hide his chew toys! We love the living room/kitchen area. It has a very open floor plan which is great for having family and friends over. We enjoy cooking together and relaxing after work in the evenings. We also have a bonus room upstairs - great for entertaining and we may even turn into a playroom one day. Steven loves to grill out, so we also spend a lot of time on our back patio in evenings.
Our Extended Families
We are both very close to our immediate and extended families. Tara's parents live very close — within about a half hour drive. Steven's parents live about an hour away, along with his sister and her family (we have one nephew). Tara has an aunt, uncle, and cousins nearby. Steven has cousins (and their children) living in the area who we see quite often. Since we are all close, we generally get to see both sides of the family at all holidays and many birthday parties! We enjoy watching movies and playing board games when getting together. If it's a holiday everyone brings sides to help out the host and the meal! We also like to go out to eat and try new restaurants with friends and family.
Family traditions include going to look at lights around our neighborhoods/town on Christmas Eve! We also love to go watch a fireworks show on July 4th. We would love to be able to share these experiences with a child and make new holiday memories and traditions!
Both of our families are very supportive of our adoption plan. They are all excited to welcome a new addition to the family! We both have family members who were adopted — being able to see the miracle and prayers that can be answered through the precious gift of adoption has been a benefit to us as we are going through our adoption plan.
From Us to You
We want to thank you for considering us as a potential adoptive family for your child. We know this must be a difficult and emotional time for you. It is our hope with this letter to describe what life would be like with our family for your baby.
We have been married for 8 years and we have a very loving and committed marriage. Our relationship is solid and is built on trust, respect, and faith.
Steven loves to bike, fish, hunt, and play golf. Tara loves to travel, spend time volunteering with animals, shopping, and craft fairs. We spend most of our time during the weeknights relaxing at home or sometimes we have dinner with friends. We usually like to be outside on the weekends (if the weather cooperates) and also enjoy going to movies or trying new restaurants with family and friends. Birthdays are fun-filled with balloons, cake, and loved ones. We also love to go to local town activities such as the downtown square events, picnics, and county fairs. We do love to travel whenever we can. Sometimes we take short weekend trips and usually go on an annual vacation each summer! Some of our favorite vacation spots include Destin, Florida; Charleston, South Carolina; Nashville, Tennessee and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. There are so many adventures we are looking forward to with a child in our family.
We love our nice, quiet neighborhood; it is filled with many kids of all ages. We are involved in our church life group and get together with them quite often. Many of the couples in our life group have young children. We are near schools, restaurants, and shopping centers.
Both sides of our family are very supportive of our adoption plan and are so excited to welcome a child into our home! Tara's parents live within half an hour, and we see them often. Steven's parents live within an hour and we see them as often as we can, as well. We take trips with our families sometimes, such as a recent trip with Steven's family to Yellowstone, and are planning a trip with Tara's family to Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
We are so excited about the opportunity to start a family! We have been dealing with infertility issues for several years now and know that God is leading us towards adoption to grow our family. We have family members and many friends who have been touched by adoption, and we see firsthand what a miracle and gift it truly is. We both have always longed for children and to have a family of our own. We look forward to the day we can watch him or her take their first step and say their first word. Steven would share his love for the great outdoors with a child; this would include many outdoor activities as he or she grows up.
We would be forever grateful to you and will be happy to share photos and letters with you so that you can know how your child is growing. We are open to an exchange of e-mails and/or text updates as well.
Thank you again for taking the time to learn about our family and for considering us as a family for your baby. A child would mean the world to us, and we consider raising a child as the greatest responsibility and gift we could ever receive.
With love and gratitude,
Steven & Tara
