Jeff & Yumi

Thank you for considering us as potential parents for your baby. We have a lot of love to give, and are very much looking forward to expanding our family. We believe in hard work, responsibility, and being kind and respectful to others; and we would love to have the opportunity to pass those values on to a child.

Our Favorite Vacation Spot

Meeting Donald Duck at Epcot

Yumi's favorite vacation spot is Walt Disney World. When we were stationed in Florida we bought annual passes to take advantage of being close to the parks. We both enjoy a lot of Disney movies, and going there is something that both of us and any potential children could get endless enjoyment out of. Yumi's favorite park is Magic Kingdom, and she really loves all of the classic Disney themed characters such as Mickey Mouse and Goofy, and all of the rides and attractions related to them. Jeff's favorite park is Epcot Center, and he really loves all of the beautiful scenery and landscaping, and enjoys experiencing all of the cultures from around the world that are showcased there.

Jeff's favorite vacation spot is Yumi's home country of Japan. Every couple of years, we try to make the trip out there to visit with family, and immerse ourselves in the culture. Jeff has a great relationship with Yumi's family, and really enjoys visiting with them to socialize or go hiking on the many mountains around her hometown.

Education We will Provide

From day one we will begin reading books to our child. We understand how important the earliest years of a child's life are to brain development. Both of us speak English and Japanese, so we plan to raise them to be bilingual. Additionally, we know a limited amount of Spanish, and we would like to improve on that by studying with any potential children.

We are extremely interested in our children having the best possible education that we can provide for them. We will be taking quality of schools into account whenever we move until they have graduated from high school. We will always make it a priority for them to finish school assignments/studying before doing activities for fun. Yumi has experience tutoring children, and we will both be willing and able to help them with schoolwork.

When it comes time for secondary education, our goal is to send them to the highest quality college or vocational school that suits their dream job in life. We truly believe that if we follow this plan, along with providing constant love and support, they will be able to achieve anything that their hearts desire.

Our Dog, Smokey

Family Walk

Our lovable Chihuahua, Smokey, has been like our child ever since he joined our family eight years ago. He has been a source of comfort for both of us during tough times, and has brought so much extra joy and enrichment to our lives during the happy times. We love taking daily walks through our neighborhood with him, and it is an important part of our marriage because it gives us plenty of time to communicate with one another and bond as a couple. He has flown to Japan with us to visit Yumi's family on three separate occasions, and is always so sweet and well-behaved. He barks when people first come to the house, but he is very gentle around small children. He will be a great companion for a child!

Our Extended Families

With Our Close Family Friends

We come from very different backgrounds. Yumi is from Japan, and was working as an accountant when we first met. Jeff is in the Navy, and was lucky enough to be stationed in Japan, which gave him the opportunity to meet Yumi.

Yumi has one younger brother Kei, and Jeff is the youngest of four. Jeff has two nephews and three nieces on his side of the family. Our closest family members are a few hundred miles away, but we have a great support system in our culturally diverse military community. We see both sides of the family approximately every two years. We wish it could be more often, but with Yumi's family living in Japan, and us being a military family it is difficult to get together.

Dinner with Yumi's Family

We celebrate both American holidays and take part in Japanese traditions whenever possible. Jeff has traveled to over 20 different countries, loves learning about cultures other than his own, and would very much like to visit similar places with future children. Our family is unique because we have a lot of worldly experience, an appreciation for the myriad of cultures and places from all across the globe, and we have overcome cultural and language barriers to become a loving couple that has stood the test of time.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

Our neighborhood is located in a small town, but is in close proximity to several major cities, and is a short drive from the coast. The community is mostly made up of military families, so cultural diversity is very much a big part of life. There are a lot of families with young children, and large groups of them are always enjoying outdoor activities like bicycling and basketball together on nice days. The neighborhood frequently puts on pool parties and BBQs to allow everyone from the community to get to know one another and make friends, and the base puts a tremendous amount of resources into providing both fun and educational activities for families; such as Easter Egg hunts and vacation trips throughout the country.

Neighborhood Park

We live in a side-by-side duplex with classic New England style, with three bedrooms, two and a half baths, living and dining rooms, and a kitchen. We are on a quiet cul-de-sac, and there a several large shade trees around the house which are home to squirrels, woodpeckers, and a large variety of beautiful songbirds. There are two nice playgrounds within a 2-5 minute walk, as well as multiple community swimming pools within a short drive. The base has a bowling alley, library, as well as a movie theater that hosts special movie events specifically for young children.

From Us to You

"The best inheritance a parent can give his children is a few minutes of his time each day." -Orlando Aloysius Battista

Hello, and thank you so much for taking the time to view our profile! More than anything else, we want you to know how much we want to be able to give all of our time and love to children. We recently celebrated our ten-year anniversary, and our marriage has never been stronger than it is now! After trying for several years to conceive, and being unsuccessful, we knew that adoption was our destiny and the best way for our family to grow.

Yumi loves children more than anything else and has dreamed of having her own for many years. She is ecstatic whenever we visit friends and family with children, because she loves to watch them playing and having fun together. Her nieces and nephews love her very much and are excited when they get to see her.

Yumi has a degree in Economics and worked as an accountant for 10 years, but has been a homemaker ever since we married. Now she spends her time keeping the house clean, cooking our meals, caring for our dog, and using her financial expertise to help us save money and keep a good budget. She is an excellent cook, and a great source of common-sense advice.

Jeff has been serving in the Navy for over 15 years, and just finished his Associate’s Degree. He is able to provide enough money for Yumi and him to live comfortably on one source of income, allowing Yumi to be a full-time mother if we are blessed with the opportunity. When Jeff is eligible to retire in five years, he plans on finding a second job that will allow him to spend as much time as possible loving and supporting his wife and potential children while still providing enough income to give them great opportunities.

On weekends we usually like to take road trips down to New York for shopping or head up to Boston to see the Red Sox play at Fenway Park. We also spend quite a lot of time at local state parks and historical sites, especially those that allow pets. Our Chihuahua, Smokey, loves to take walks on nature trails or just about anywhere. We have so much fun watching how excited he gets when we are out together, and it is a great opportunity for us to bond as a couple. Both of us love the ocean, and enjoy going down to the surf for a little fishing during the warmer months. We absolutely can’t wait to share these kinds of memorable experiences with a child!

Between the two of us, we have a rich variety of multi-national backgrounds and cultural experiences. We have so much love, multiple languages, and variety of experiences from all over the world to share with a child. Parenthood is an adventure that we are looking forward to with a lot of excitement.

From day one, we will begin speaking to him/her about how he/she came to be our child through adoption, as well as how much love and courage you showed by allowing us to raise him/her as our own. We are excited about getting to know you, and finding out your vision about how you would like the relationship between us, you and the child to look, and how you would like to keep open communication going. We are happy to send you letters and/or emails with pictures frequently, and we are open to having future visits as long as distance allows.

Thanks again for your time and consideration, and best wishes to you!
