Our Leisure Time

In a Vineyard in Champagne, France

Our favorite activity is traveling together to explore new places. Each year we try to travel internationally and enjoy navigating our way through new countries while experiencing different languages, foods, history, architecture, and landscapes. Some of our favorites so far have been Spain, France, China, Germany, Hungary and The Czech Republic. We also travel in the United States to see friends and some family members that live out of town. We cannot wait to take a little travel buddy on our adventures and give them the opportunity to see places outside of their home town.

Outside of traveling, we spend our free time enjoying many different activities most of which involve us being outdoors. We like to go on long walks with our dog, Barley, in our neighborhood and also in parks to find new spots for picnics. We enjoy attending outdoor music festivals as well as fishing, boating, and swimming. The city that we live in has many professional sports teams, a zoo, art museum, history museum and numerous theaters that we frequently visit, but cannot wait to share with a child.

Volunteering is an important part of our lives and we try to help those around us through a handful of charities that are dedicated to specific causes. Some of our activities involve preparing and serving meals for those in need, making welcome baskets for ladies at a women’s shelter and tending to those who are ill to help bring them comfort and peace.

Education We will Provide

Celebrating Our Niece Addyson's Big School Play

Education is very important to us and we plan to make any sacrifice necessary to provide a child with the best education that is possible and suited for their needs. We also understand that this may change over time. What works for a child in elementary school may not work for them in middle school or high school.

We plan to be flexible and open-minded as the child grows up and their needs may change. Our home is within a short walking distance to many wonderful schools.

We do plan to include religious-based education in a child’s upbringing to nurture their faith, to help them become a well-rounded person and to teach them to care for others.

We believe that education starts at home from the very beginning of a child’s life and plan to be very active in their development and education. From reading to them as we are rocking them to sleep, helping them learn to walk, teaching them to read and helping with their daily homework, we plan to be there every step of the way.

How We Met

We went to college together but didn’t really know each other until two good friends of ours were married. Unknown to us, they always thought that we would make a great couple so they set up a dinner. Kelly was having these two friends over for dinner and received a message from them the day of the dinner asking if their friend, Tyler, could join. Of course, Kelly said yes, and thankfully so, as we immediately hit it off having many similar interests.

Tyler was drawn to Kelly’s warmness and drive and Kelly was drawn to Tyler’s sense of humor and fun loving personality. After this initial meeting, we went out on a few more double dates with our good friends and then started dating each other. It was a whirlwind of a romance with time spent at long dinners, going to sporting events, picnics, lots of walking and talking, traveling and getting to know each other’s family and friends, all while falling in love. It did not take long for us to realize that we were “the one” God has made for each other and we were engaged in 10 months.

Our Extended Families

Kelly and Her Father at the PGA Champsionship

Our family is the center of our world. We truly enjoy each other’s company and are not only family but the best of friends. We live within minutes of many members of our family and see them as often as we can. We grew up surrounded by our grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins and still treasure those close relationships today. It takes a village to raise a child and we are happy to know that we can count on the care and support of our families. This child will grow up with many grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins to love them.

Tyler with His Parents

We have lots of family traditions and activities that we look forward to sharing with this child. In the summers we barbeque, go to baseball games, watch fireworks and take family vacations to the beach and lake. We go fishing, boating and make s’mores around a bonfire. We have lots of holiday traditions that are special to us. Watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in the morning and later that day the annual breaking of the wishbone before enjoying Thanksgiving meals with our family. On Christmas Eve we attend Church as a family and then go back to our parents’ house for a big meal. Later we all exchange gifts and watch our favorite Christmas movies by the fire.

We had a wonderful childhood due to the people who were in it and we know our families are ready and excited to give that experience to this child.

Our House and Neighborhood

The Front of Our House During the Summer

We live in an idyllic community that has many young families, historic homes, sidewalks, and beautiful trees. We are walking distance to wonderful churches, schools, and parks with playgrounds and playing fields and many local shops and restaurants. Just down the street is a community rec center with swimming pools, an ice rink, basketball courts, and tennis courts. Parades, street festivals, and outdoor celebrations are commonplace in our community. The Fourth of July is the biggest of these celebrations. The parade is just up the street from our home. Every year our neighbors come out to watch the high school band lead the way and all of the floats that follow. There is a carnival with many rides and games then a huge fireworks display in the evening.

We built our home last year and it has plenty of room for a child. It is one and a half stories and has an open floor plan allowing us to keep our eyes on a little one. Our home is bright with many windows that look out on our yard which has lots of room for a child to play. There are tall trees that provide great shade and make our yard a wonderful place to spend time. In the fall the trees are beautiful as the leaves change colors and in the spring the flowers bloom. In the wintertime, you will find us around the table with family and friends sharing in Kelly’s homemade lasagna and Tyler’s famous cheesecake while catching up and telling stories. We also like to play games, watch sporting events and listen to music with the occasional dance party. Our home is a place where everyone feels comfortable and leaves with a full belly and a smile on their face.

From Us to You

Hi, we are Tyler and Kelly and we are honored that you are learning more about us. We admire your strength and believe that you are very brave in considering adoption for your child. Your love for your child is evident and we promise to love your child with the same selfless love that you are showing them now.

Love is what started this journey for us seven years ago when we met. There was an instant spark and the kind of butterflies in your stomach that keep you up all night dreaming about the possibilities of having found your forever person. Quickly these butterflies turned into love and that love has been the greatest joy of our lives so far. We have been married for five years and each day that love grows stronger and deeper.

Tyler is a banker at a local bank. He has been with his employer for twelve years. He has built strong bonds with all sorts of small business owners and people as they start and grow their own companies. He finds it truly rewarding work to help others make their dreams become a reality. For the most part, Tyler is able to set his own schedule which will be very helpful in meeting the needs of a child. Kelly is also a banker where she finances the purchase of, or construction of, buildings in our community. She has worked for the same company for eleven years and finds great satisfaction in shaping our community by providing places for people to live, work and play. Kelly’s office is close to our home allowing her to be available for any of the child’s needs. Additionally, she has the flexibility to work from home when needed.

Our relationship is one of our greatest strengths. We are not just a married couple, we are each other’s best friend. We enjoy spending our free time together just hanging out and laughing. Together we are at our best. The love that we have for each other is deeply rooted and immense. We became closer and our relationship stronger as we suffered together through infertility for over four years. We each knew we were called to be parents before we even fell in love and once we fell in love the desire to share our love with a child only grew greater. Those four years were the darkest and most painful of our lives. There were lots of tears and long nights lying awake in each other arms. It could have broken us, but by the grace of God, it only made our commitment to each other stronger and united us in our dream to grow our family.

Adoption has always held a special place in our hearts and now we know it will have our full hearts by providing us with the opportunity to grow our family. Your child is already loved by us. Our hearts are deeply and completely dedicated to loving, caring, and raising your child. We will put your child first, give the best of ourselves and do anything we can to make sure that your child feels loved and safe. We will give them a childhood free of worry and full of support, laughter, and learning.

Our support structure is huge. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, are all ready for us to bring home a child. From day one, your child will have a family that showers them with love.

It is important that you know we are thinking about you and that you are already very special to our family. We look forward to getting to know you. We will faithfully send you pictures, letters, and emails throughout your child’s life. We believe that you are brave and courageous and will make sure that your child shares in our beliefs. It is our hope that we have brought you some comfort and peace as you consider this selfless act of love for your child. Thank you for considering adoption and thank you for considering us.

With love and gratitude,

Tyler & Kelly
