Adoption in Our Lives

Taking Connor Home

We have already had the blessing of growing our family through adoption once. In 2016 we adopted our son Connor. Our experience with his birth parents was amazing. It was a great connection! We had the opportunity to get to know them, and spend time with them during and shortly after his birth. We have pictures of his birth family to share with him and tell him frequently about them. The three of us have fun choosing photos to send to them along with letter updates.

We would love for Connor to have a sibling. He is an active and adventurous little boy, who loves to be outdoors. He is also funny, caring and helpful. We know he’d love to share his adventures and experiences with a brother or sister. We hope that our children will be able to share their special adoption bond. We are excited for our family to grow once again!

Our Favorite Vacation Spot

Our Home Away from Home

We have been camping together since we first met; exploring various campgrounds and state parks throughout the northeast graduating from tenting to a travel trailer. Eventually, we found a campground along a river nestled in the white mountains of New Hampshire that we fell in love with. We decided to try a seasonal campsite for a year and have been there for the past 6 years. It is our home away from home. We spend most weekends and vacation weeks at the camp. Our camping neighbors have turned in to great friends with a little girl that is only 1 week apart from Connor!

We fell in love with the area because there is so much to do and explore from the mountains to hike, natural waterfalls, kayaking and swimming on the river or biking on the trails. There are also several attractions in the area including family theme parks and nature museums that we enjoy taking Connor to. In the evening we love to cook over the campfire, spend quality time with the family and relax unplugged!

Our Dogs, Lily & Cash

Our Sweet Pups

We couldn't imagine our family without our two "fur-babies", Lilly and Cash. They bring so much fun and excitement into our lives. Lilly, a 13-year-old Jack Russell, adores people. She has a gentle presence with elderly and loves small children, especially babies. She was one of the most excited family members to meet Connor for the first time showering him with kisses. It was an instant connection and love at first sight. Connor loves gently petting Lilly and she enjoys the attention especially when he's handing out Goldfish.

Cash, our 6-year-old husky/rat terrier, is a shy guy. Once he gets to know someone, he is a cuddle bug. He has gotten Connor's eating schedule down and is always close by for a handout or on standby as the cleanup crew. As a family, we like taking them on walks and hikes. Our pups are a huge part of our extended family, as well. They join in all of our holiday fun and family vacations.

Our Extended Families

Kate's Family

We both come from supportive, close knit families. We are fortunate to live close to both sides and get to see them frequently. We also have two dogs, Lilly and Cash. We have many friends that are close by, some even right in our neighborhood, that we spend lots of time with.

Dave's Family

Kate’s parents have been married over forty five years and she has one older sister. Kate’s sister is married and has a son a few weeks younger than Connor. She has a large extended family with lots of cousins, aunts and uncles. We love spending time together having family dinners and barbecues. We all enjoy snow shoeing, kayaking and running road races together. Kate’s family is excited at the thought of growing even larger.

Dave also has one sister, who is younger than him, and parents that have been married over forty years. All of Dave’s family lives locally. We spend our summer together on multiple camping trips - our group has expanded to about 10-12 motorhomes/campers and tents that all travel together! The rest of the year we get together having dinners, traveling together and just spending time with each other. His entire family can’t wait for another family member to spoil.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

Our three-bedroom home is in a great location surrounded by woods with miles of hiking trails and a large pond for fishing and ice skating. It’s quiet and peaceful, but not too remote. We have great neighbors that we spend a lot of time with when we get together for dinners and the kids play together – we even travel together! Connor has neighborhood friends his age, and our neighborhood keeps growing.

Our community has a great school system and lots of activities. We have a beautiful park with an amphitheater, large playground and lots of walking trails with picnic areas. There are also lots of other town beaches and recreational areas. Every year our town has an “Old Home Days” celebration with parades, carnival rides and fun family games.

We’re also located within an hour drive to the ocean, mountains or Boston. We look forward to all the places we can show our children.

From Us to You

We are excited at the chance to expand our family once again and would like to share a little more about ourselves and the life we can provide for your child.

It has been over 18 years since we first met on one fateful night during Dave's sophomore year in college. It didn't take long for us to become a couple. Our fun and spontaneous personalities complemented each other so well that we both knew we had found "the one". We have been inseparable ever since.

We purchased our first home a year after Dave graduated college and expanded our family with our first introduction to parenthood by adopting Lilly, our Jack Russell terrier. A few years later we took the next step and got married over 11 years ago. It was at this time we began planning for our future family. We moved into our current home in a child-friendly neighborhood with a great public school system. Now with more room to grow, we adopted our second pup, Cash, to give Lilly a sibling.

At this stage in our lives, we felt we were ready to have children. Like a lot of couples, we struggled with infertility for several years and attempted IVF before we ultimately realized that we just wanted to become parents. It was at this point we decided to look into adoption and the despair quickly changed back to hope and excitement.

A little less than a year later we were in Texas meeting Connor's birth parents for the first time and having a blast getting to know them. They truly changed our lives forever. We were fortunate to be at the hospital for Connor's birth. Holding our son in our arms for the first time was the happiest day of our lives. These past 2 years with Connor have been filled with love and laughter. We both grew up with siblings and know how great it will be for Connor and our next child.

We look forward to telling your child about where they come from and the tremendous loving sacrifice that was made. Adoption will help us expand our family once again and it is something that we will be forever grateful for. It is a story we enjoy telling over and over. We fondly look back on our scrapbook from Connor's adoption as the best decision we have ever made.

We would like the opportunity to stay in touch with letters and pictures of your child's milestones and achievements. It is important to us that you know your child is loved and cared for as well as to give you comfort in knowing that you made the right decision.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us a little more. We hope that this insight into our lives helps provide some peace and ease in the decisions you have ahead.

Sincerely,

Dave & Kate
