Tyler & Emily
We believe that we have been called to adoption. We see adoption as a gift and something to be celebrated. We have been blessed with so much love, so we have so much love to give to a child. We would be eternally grateful if you choose us to be your child's parents. We hope that you consider us and we are so excited to begin this journey with you.
We understand the many cultural differences in adopting transracially, and we want to celebrate different cultures well. We will make sure to incorporate books and toys that represent our child's culture, as well as make sure that our child grows up with other children of his or her culture. We want to make sure our child also has an adult of his or her culture to look up to, learn from, and relate to. We would also love to attend cultural events with our child, so they can learn about their own culture, and be around people of their culture. We have a culturally diverse family as well, so spending time with our extended family would be another great place of honoring cultural differences.
We believe that God created all people equally, with unique attributes, and different cultural backgrounds. We are all children of God, with differences that should be celebrated.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other
Emily About Tyler: When I think about Tyler, the first that comes to mind is that he has always been and is my best friend. We love spending time together. Every evening we try to go on a walk with our dog, just to talk about our day.
Tyler has always had the biggest heart for people. He is kind, generous, and funny. I have always loved him for how good of a friend he is to everyone.
Tyler could be describes as a quiet thinker, but he is also a natural leader. Through different trials we have faced, he has always had a positive outlook. He continuously leads our family in every exciting, unknown step.
Most of all, his love for the Lord and his family is what will make him a wonderful father one day. He has a big heart and so much love to give to a son or daughter.
Tyler About Emily: Emily and I have a great relationship. She is my best friend, and there is no one I would rather be with. She loves me really well.
Her love and passion for children is also strong. I see this in her every day when she comes home from school talking about her day. She was created to teach and love children.
Emily is quiet in her demeanor, and strong in character. She has been through a lot so far in life, and her strength and perseverance has shone through the trials.
Lastly, and most importantly, Emily pursues the Lord vigorously. She loves Jesus, and will love her children with the love that comes from Him.
Our Promise to You
More than anything we want you to know that we will love your child unconditionally. We will nurture him or her to grow up to be the best person that he or she can be. We promise to provide them a home where God is the foundation and focus. We promise to instill kindness, generosity, and respect for others every day. We will encourage his or her hopes and dreams and provide the best possible education to reach those.
We want your piece in their story to be remembered and celebrated. God is writing their story and that makes every part special to us. We will always tell them where they came from and how much they are loved by you.
Our House and Neighborhood
We are so blessed to have our beautiful home. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms, and a bonus room that will be a playroom. One bedroom is ready to be a nursery. When we get together everyone always hangs out in the kitchen — which is also one of our favorite rooms!
The neighborhood is quiet and everyone is very friendly. There are always kids out riding bikes and playing. We usually walk our pup, Avett, in the evening and end up chattting with our neighbors. Our town has a local park that has a wooden playground and walking trails. We go there multiple times a week. Our town also has a recreation center that has a community pool. There are always lots of children there swimming.
Our town usually has different events for all of the holidays. They have Christmas lights up in the winter and then a huge firework show for the Fourth of July. We can't wait to share it all with a child!
The school where Emily teaches is one of the best elementary schools in the state. It is a wonderful county and provides a great education. We are happy to call this home and we think it will be an amazing place for a child to grow up in!
Our Extended Families
Tyler's family consists of his Mom and Dad and his two older sisters, Kristi and Lauren. His parents have been married for 34 years. His parents live 20 minutes from us and we see them all of the time for family dinners, walk, and church. His parents also have an RV so we enjoy camping with the family often. Kristi lives in Ohio and visits often. She is hilarious and always makes us laugh. Lauren lives about 30 minutes away and is a school social worker. She has such a compassionate heart for her students. They can't wait to be aunts.
Our child will be the first grandchild in Tyler's family and they can't wait to have a little baby to love.
Emily's parents have also been married for 34 years. They lives 5 minutes away so we see them often. Emily's dad works in the music business. He is always playing guitar around the house. Emily's mom was a stay at home mom so she is planning on watching grandbabies while we are at work. Emily has one brother who is married and has two girls. We love spending time with our nieces. They are currently in Ireland as missionaries but we FaceTime often. We will see them for our tradition of going to the cabin for Christmas.
From Us to You
We marvel at the strength and courage you have to pursue an adoption plan. We do not know the circumstances that brought you to this point but we continually pray for you, that you will have peace and comfort during this process. We understand what it's like for life to turn out differently than you have planned. Know that we think of you often, even though we haven't met, we care for you.
Having a family has always been a desire in our hearts from the beginning. We have always wanted to adopt. However, we were planning on adopting after we had a child biologically. We quickly started trying to get pregnant after we got married. We tried for many years to have children, including IVF and surgeries. We now know we are not capable of having biological children. We believe God is in control and that He is good. We will love your child with the love of Christ which is unconditional and selfless.
We both love children. Emily is a 4th grade teacher, so she works with children all day, every day. She can't wait to help a child learn and grow. We also both lead a class for 1st graders at church. We really enjoy spending time with our class every week. We have two nieces, as well, that we are in love with.
We both view our family life as exponentially more important than our work. We both have really flexible jobs, and Emily being a teacher means that she has all of the holidays and summers off to spend time with a child.
Our life is pretty active. We enjoy going on walks with our Goldendoodle, Avett, biking our local greenways, and hiking occasionally. We are looking forward to enjoying those activities with a child. We also go on a yearly beach vacation with our extended family, so we can't wait to share that time with him or her.
Emily loves to cook. She is really looking forward to spending time with a child in the kitchen, showing him or her how to cook and bake her favorite things. She also loves to read, so she is very excited to read to a child every day. Tyler really enjoys sports. He can't wait to teach a child how to play soccer and golf, and cheer for his favorite teams. He also likes woodworking, so he is excited to teach a child how to build things.
Our dog, Avett, is a very energetic and loving dog. He is great around kids, and will love to play in the yard, and cuddle with a child.
As you look at our profile, we pray that it brings you hope and peace that your child will grow up loved and nurtured. You are the beginning of their story - such an important part. You will not be forgotten but cherished every step of the way. We will stay in communication through sending letters and pictures. We are open to having phone calls and some visits. We want our child's story to always be remembered.
With much love,
Tyler & Emily
