Carl & Anais
It takes an incredible amount of courage and love to want what is best for your child and we feel privileged to be considered. We have so much love and joy to share, and hope that we will be given the opportunity to share it with your child. We would feel honored to be your child's parents. We want to thank you for taking the time to read our profile.
Our Leisure Time
We both love spending Sunday afternoons at Barnes and Noble. For the most part, Anais reads and Carl does computer programming for fun. We also like to go to the movies or rent movies to watch at home. We usually have to compromise, as Anais likes romantic comedies and Carl loves Science Fiction. We also enjoy taking walks with the dog and taking him to the dog park.
We are very involved with our University of Florida Alumni Association. We do a lot of volunteering with them; we recently volunteered at the Special Olympics here in Atlanta. We assisted the athletes throughout their competition. We also volunteer at some of the events with high school students looking to go to the university and with college fairs. We join our group of friends and other Florida Alums in watching the football games on Saturdays. We like attending other sporting events as well. We especially like to go to baseball games and can’t wait to have a child join us for the fun!
How We Met
We met in 2005, while we were both attending the University of Florida (Go Gators!). Carl is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and Anais was participating in an event the fraternity was hosting. At the time, we had friends in common that introduced us and we hung out as a group throughout the semester. During our college time, we spent time together attending different events at the school, but once Carl graduated we lost touch. Years later, in 2010, one of our mutual friends tagged us in a status on Facebook reminiscing about some of our memories together in college. We became friends on Facebook and began to message each other about the "old times" and began catching up on where our lives had taken us. Anais was in law school at this time and Carl was in the Army. Two weeks after reconnecting Carl was deploying to Afghanistan. Throughout Carl's deployment, we remained in touch via e-mails and packages in the mail. After Carl came back from his deployment, we decided to give our love a chance and have been together ever since.
Our Dog, Gator
We adopted Gator Bait from the Kansas Humane Society in 2013, while Carl was stationed in Kansas. Gator is a very handsome, black lab/mastiff mix. As soon as we saw him we knew he was the dog for us. He is a gentle giant, and with a huge head it was only fitting that we named him Gator. He is great with kids and loves the attention and excitement when we have them around. His favorite thing to do is lean on people for some petting and to play tug-o-war with his rope. Carl loves to take Gator on runs with him, although after the first twenty minutes he's pretty winded, now that he is getting older. Gator loves chewing on his Nylabones and mischievously chewing on every bed we buy him. We have worked a lot with Gator's training and he's very obedient. We are so happy that he is a part of our family!
Our Extended Families
We are very blessed to have large extended families on both sides. We have 12 siblings combined and a lot of nieces and nephews who we enjoy spending time with. They are all looking forward to having another cousin to play with. We spend our holidays traveling to visit our families so that we get to see everybody.
Anais' family lives within driving distance in Florida. They have a lot of traditions for Christmas and we love partaking in the family time and dinners. Anais' grandmother and mother spend all day cooking for the whole family and the food is always amazing. It’s always so wonderful spending time with everyone.
Carl's family lives in Chicago and Portland. We usually spend Thanksgivings in Portland or Chicago. We love to go sightseeing and spending time together preparing the dinner together; everyone cooks a dish. We also travel with our family within the United States and internationally, like to the Dominican Republic. Our families are so excited about our adoption plans and cannot wait to shower you child with love.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a very family-friendly community in the suburbs of Atlanta. There are a lot of festivals and events throughout the year, including movies at the park and fairs. Our community has great schools, some of the best in the Atlanta area. Plenty of our neighbors have children and can be seen walking around the neighborhood and playing at the park. We live in a 1.5-bedroom and 1-bathroom apartment. Our apartment has a large master suite with a den, which we have turned into a nursery. Our apartment also has a backyard, which is great for our dog, Gator. We also have a big, open kitchen where we spend a lot of our time cooking together. Our community has a pool, dog park, and kid's playgrounds. We also have tennis and basketball courts. We also have many shopping centers and restaurants, as well as movie theaters. This will be a great area for a child to grow up.
From Us to You
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us and considering us as parents for your child. We know that making this decision must be a very difficult one. We hope that in our profile you have been able to see our love for each other, as well as all the love we have to give to your child. We are so excited to become parents and to be provided with the opportunity to share our love, joy, and values with your child.
We will ensure that your child is provided with a great education. We will expose them to many different experience and cultures through traveling. We look forward to sharing with them our many traditions and teaching them about your background, as well as ours. Our goal is to raise a child that is aware of all the love and courage that it took to place them in our arms and to make sure that they are proud of the person they become. We want to be a part of making your child a person that you are also proud of.
Anais About Carl: Carl is truly one of the most genuine people I know. I am always in awe of his sense of integrity and loyalty. Due to his military career, he's able to remain a calm and steady force in our lives, even in the worst of times. He provides a sense of security and stability for our family. He complements me in all of the appropriate areas. I love seeing Carl with his family; he is very family oriented. Carl has also accepted my family as his own, even with the language barrier. I am confident that Carl will be a great father.
Carl About Anais: One of the biggest things I love about Anais is how family oriented she is. She goes out of her way to be there for family birthdays, holidays & special occasions. I know that she will be an amazing mother. She is also very adventure seeking. I will propose a crazy idea for an event and she is always on board for new experiences and trying new things. I also respect how analytical she is, which makes her great as an attorney. Her sense of adventure and wit are my perfect complement.
We want you to know how much we love and respect you already. Adoption is something that we have discussed since the beginning of our marriage and we've always known that it would be a part of our family. We can't imagine how difficult this decision is for you and we want you to know that we pray for you every day. We pray that you have the strength and the courage you need in making the decision that is right for you and your child. We will make sure that your child is raised to be a strong, independent person who knows how to follow their dreams and to rely on God through any hardships. We will be here to support them the whole way through and to make sure they know that they are loved.
We make the promise to ensure that your child knows all about you and your family, so that they know where they come from. We promise to exchange letters and pictures with you throughout the child’s life. We want to be your friend and have a relationship with you that will provide you with the necessary peace and assurance that you have provided your child with the best. It is important to us that you know that you are valued and respected. You can be assured that the gift you give will never be taken for granted. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, whatever decision you make. We feel blessed to be a part of this process with you and we are unbelievably grateful that you have taken time out to consider us.
