Our Lifestyle

Celebrating Our Little Brother's Adoption

We live a very active lifestyle. We spend a great deal of our time mentoring children and teens. Through Big Brothers Big Sisters, we mentor a 9-year-old boy. We are considered a "Big Couple" and spend a few hours each month playing basketball, cooking dinner, and demonstrating how a husband and wife interact. Every Wednesday night we can be found at our local church. We are Youth Leaders in our Middle/High School Youth Group. We enjoy speaking into their lives and reminding them that God has a plan/purpose for them. Peter also plays drums on our church's worship team about 2-3 times a month.

When we are not mentoring or at church, we can be found either at home or traveling. Alexa loves Do It Yourself projects and can often be found crafting in her craft room. Peter enjoys spending time in his drum room playing. Together as a couple we love to attend concerts, visit our family, spend time outside with our dog, and spend time with friends. Our friend circle consists of many newlyweds and young families, all of whom love Jesus. Although we live an active lifestyle, we are ready to become parents and raise a child surrounded by the people we truly love.

Why We Chose Adoption

We Can't Wait to be Parents!

We chose adoption because when Alexa was 15 years old she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Alexa spent much of her sophomore year attending chemotherapy treatments. After a few months, Alexa received word that she was cancer free! At the start of her battle, her oncologist stated that in order to save the remaining ovary's eggs they would have to make it through chemo and sadly they were destroyed. That summer Alexa had her remaining ovary removed.

When we began dating, Alexa talked to Peter about her battle. About 6 months into marriage, we began looking into ways to grow our family. After doing plenty of research, we strongly believe adoption is the ideal way to grow our family. We want to love a child like our own and raise them to know they are loved by 2 sets of parents.

Our Extended Families

Peter's Family

It is safe to say that both of our families are very close. Peter is the oldest of 5 siblings while Alexa is the youngest of 2 siblings. Although our siblings are scattered throughout the United States, we speak to them daily while we wait for the next opportunity to see them.

We believe that we had excellent upbringings. Peter is the son of 2 doctors and Alexa’s mother was a preschool teacher for more than 20 years. Her father is a salesman and was a little league coach for many years. We are blessed to live within a short distance from our parents and enjoy the opportunity to visit them often. Our parents are excellent role models of the parents we hope to become and the spouses we are today.

Alexa's Family

When everyone is together Peter’s family enjoys swimming, quoting movies and trying new foods. Alexa’s family enjoys attending college sporting events and gathering around the kitchen conversing over old family recipes. Something that makes our immediate families unique is that for the holidays both sides come together to celebrate and take part in each family's traditions. For example: Alexa's family makes homemade treats that are only made during the holidays, while Peter's family enjoys gifting the "Christmas Mule." It's a ceramic mule that gets filled with candy and is secretly given to a different family member each year. These traditions are a real special moment that we hope to share with our child someday.

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

Our neighborhood is both quiet and well established. Our neighbors include young families and retired couples too. We absolutely love our neighborhood and are proud to live here. Our neighborhood hosts ice cream socials, BBQ's and many other family friendly events each year.

Our Local Pool

We live in a two story home that was built in the late 1960's. The first floor includes 2 living areas, a dining room complete with a wood burning fireplace, a half bath as well as a newly remodeled kitchen. On the second floor you'll find 3 great sized bedrooms, a full bath, as well as the master suite. We have converted one of the bedrooms to house Peter's at home office. The basement has both Peter's drums, Alexa's craft room as well as a workout room too. When the weather is nice we can be found either playing fetch with our dog or having friends over to play yard games in our large back yard. One day we plan to transform the outdoor shed into the clubhouse of our child's dreams.

Within half a mile from our home, you will find both walking trails as well as a great elementary school. Our small Kansas town has many well-known museums, downtown attractions and festivals each year. The community is full of diversity and is child friendly. We absolutely love living here in Kansas and could not imagine raising a child anywhere else.

From Us to You

Hello! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read our profile and learn about us. We can not imagine how difficult of a decision this must be for you. However, we promise to raise your child in a stable, safe, and loving home. We believe what you are considering is both selfless and very courageous of you.

We have been married for a little over 1 year. We understood early on that due to Alexa's battle with ovarian cancer as a teen, we were going to be unable to biologically conceive a child. The decision to grow our family with adoption was an easy one. We both want to experience raising a baby and felt there is no better way to show God's love than to parent through adoption.

Alexa is a Family Educator with Early Head Start. She provides parents education about their child's development and parenting skills as well as creating lesson plans to help their child reach developmental milestones. Alexa absolutely loves her job and knows that with both her education as well as experience she will truly be a great mother one day. Peter works with investments. He speaks to individuals all over the world who are wanting to invest money in the futures industry. Peter loves that his job involves real world economics and how they affect investments. Although we have completely different careers, we are extremely supportive of one another. We stand by the commitment we made to put each other's needs first. We love doing life as well as embracing this journey together.

Family plays a large role in our lives. Our parents are amazing role models and we are blessed to live only a short distance away. Even with siblings scattered throughout the United States, we still make efforts to meet up and fellowship periodically throughout the year. Both of our families are extremely supportive with our decision to adopt. They are eager to spend time with us as well and celebrate the birth of a little one. We know they will greatly enjoy any child that we bring into our family.

Our future child will be raised in a home with strong Christian morals and beliefs. We will value their education and encourage them to follow their passion. They will reside in a stable and nurturing environment full of endless grace. We are excited to work with you and grow/maintain a healthy relationship. Throughout the year we will exchange photographs/videos of milestones along with letters and emails too. We will travel each year to visit and spend time with you. With open communication we will be able to share with you the true blessing that your child has brought to our lives. We will make a commitment to always speak highly of you and honor you with our words and actions as you will always play a huge role in our lives.

Thank you for considering us as potential parents for your child. We are excited to grow our family and raise them to know how loved they are. We understand you have a very important and difficult decision ahead. Please know that God has a great plan for you and you will forever be in our prayers.
