Norm & Kacey
How exciting to introduce ourselves to you! We love each other deeply and cannot wait to share that love with a child. We believe in demonstrating kindness, respecting others, working hard and taking pride in all we do. We look forward to growing our family and creating new memories as we start the next chapter of our lives.
Our Leisure Time
We enjoy learning new things and especially love to travel. Each trip is an adventure, no matter how close or far from home. We have been fortunate to travel across the U.S. and to Australia, Canada, and England. Our favorite days are filled with visits with friends, being active outdoors, cooking, exploring our state, and simply relaxing together.
We are both passionate runners and the sport plays an important part of our lives. Kacey loves setting and meeting new fitness goals and girl-time fun runs with friends. Norm is a bit more competitive and he recently fulfilled his dream of running the Boston Marathon. It was so special to him that he’s already planning his next race to hopefully qualify again. We are very excited to add a jogging stroller to our running gear options!
If any Star Wars movie is on, Norm becomes captivated and is as cute as a little boy watching them for the first time. He also enjoys photography and finding unique perspectives to capture through his lens. Kacey loves to read, and she enjoys curling up with a good historical fiction novel in front of the fireplace or camping out in the library. She’s looking forward to sharing this time with a snuggle bug and having someone to read new stories to. We are excited about the possibility of a little one joining our adventures!
How We Met
We met a bit later in life, or as we like to say, at the right time! A geographical glitch in our online profiles brought us together from across the state. We spent weeks emailing, talking on the phone, and mailing a personal journal back and forth to communicate. This unique approach helped build a strong foundation of friendship as we connected over our love of family, travel, running, and home crafts. It was serendipitous; the romance just clicked and three years later we were married on Mackinac Island, Michigan. We have made it our little tradition to return to that magical place every year for our anniversary! The opportunity to introduce a child into the next chapter of our lives is so very exciting!
We believe it’s important to share with the child as much information about you as you’d like us to share. We will create a book that tells the story of how you chose us as a family and our adoption journey. Our story will evolve over time and allow for more natural, honest, and intentional conversations. We feel this will help reinforce the level of trust they have with us all while maintaining their connection with you.
We will represent you as a caring mother who made a brave and difficult decision. They will be reminded that you very likely think of them often and we will encourage them to write letters, draw pictures, and pick photographs to send to you. The child will discover they are surrounded by many people who love them.
Our Extended Families
We are both extremely close to our families and visit each other as frequently as possible. Your child will be surrounded by the love and attention from our parents and our extended families.
Norm has family in Michigan, California and Oregon. His sister and her children live in Michigan but will be moving to Denver soon, which will allow us to spend more time together. Norm’s parents are retired and they are eager to focus their attention on a new grandbaby. His parents also live in Michigan, and they’ve been wanting to visit more frequently and are even considering moving to be closer.
Kacey has two-step brothers and her family all reside in Virginia. She is very close with her mother, who visits Colorado a few times a year since her retirement. They spend time running, shopping and exploring the great outdoors. This will be the first grandchild in Kacey’s family and they are ready to spoil her/him with love and affection.
Our kitty, Gypsy, is also thrilled to be a big sister and having a little person to love! Our families are extremely excited for our opportunity to become loving parents and are looking forward to sharing their own special moments with this child.
Our House and Neighborhood
We built our home in 2017 and we enjoy our little community. Nestled between Denver and Boulder, we are just 30 minutes away from either city, allowing us to take advantage of great activities like the zoo, museums, shows, sporting events, symphonies, and more.
Our neighborhood is very family friendly with a community pool and playground just a short two-minute walk from the house. Right outside our neighborhood is one of the many area trails offering miles of hiking, walking, and biking opportunities. A community day-care and preschool is nearby, and we are only minutes away from an elementary school that is ranked above the state’s academic average.
Colorado embraces all four seasons and our city hosts many fun events. Our favorites are the Harvest Festival with carnival games, hot-air balloons, a pumpkin patch, and of course trick-or-treating! There’s also a holiday lighting ceremony with holiday music and photos with Santa; and our 4th of July celebration has a wonderful firework shows. We cannot wait to share these celebrations with a child and fill our cozy home with countless new memories!
From Us to You
We are thankful and overjoyed that you chose to spend your time learning about us. We are excited to share some glimpses into our lives and hope you see our love and commitment as a family. We sincerely hope this brief amount of time with us can provide some warmth and comfort during this challenging time for you and that it provides a sense of who we are and the loving care we hope to offer your baby.
We met online in 2010 while living on opposite sides of Virginia. Our romance blossomed and three short years later, we were married. Originally from Michigan, Norm joined the Navy shortly after high school. After spending 27 years on active duty, he recently retired from his globetrotting career to work for the state of Colorado. Kacey was raised in Virginia and has a long and successful career in corporate finance, currently in the field of higher education.
We now live and work outside Denver, Colorado with our senior tortie cat, Gypsy. We had two golden retrievers, a mom and daughter, but we lost the mom to cancer four years ago and lost her daughter in 2017. We miss having our best pals and anticipate welcoming a new puppy to our growing family in a few years. Helping foster that special bond between a pet and a child, we believe, will help create a happy environment to complement our unconditional love.
We chose to wait to start a family until Norm retired from the military due to the unpredictability of assignments and overseas deployments. Upon Norm’s retirement and settling in Colorado, we were ready to grow our family. Adoption was always part of our discussion, and while we did try on our own, our hearts were firmly rooted with adoption. We know that adoption will be an amazing experience and we cannot wait to share our love with a child.
We fully realize that you have a difficult decision ahead of you and we admire and respect your undeniable courage and strength. Please know that we will give your child all of the love we have, our undivided attention, and will provide positive influences throughout their life. We will share with you your child’s growth and experience in photos and stories to mark their special milestones. You are significant to us and, if you were to choose us, your child will always know how loved they are by you and how brave you have been in this journey. We are open to making arrangements for visits when the time is right so that you may continue to participate in their life. They will be cherished, guided, nurtured, and loved by so many. Our gratitude for your selflessness will be evident in our home and in the person your child grows up to be.
Thank you for reading our story. We hope you enjoyed getting to know a little bit about our family. We will devote our lives to providing a loving home and encouraging them to follow their dreams. We will instill them with a sense of pride and understanding of the sacrifices you have made. While we hope to tell you so much more in person, we hope we have given you a glimpse into our family and the type of loving home and life we could provide.
