Joe & Jessica
We know adopting is a gift and we are honored to be considered. We can't imagine how challenging this decision must be for you, and we hope it eases some of your worries knowing that through our unconditional love, patience, and devotion we will be truly excellent parents. We have so much love to give and we would be overjoyed to welcome your child into our home.
Adoption in Our Lives
Adoption has affected us on a very personal level. Jessica’s father was adopted as an infant and her family is very grateful for adoption. Jess’s dad has always been very open about his adoption and taught Jessica and her siblings to have gratitude for his birth mother. It is so powerful to see the positive effects of adoption on Jessica’s dad. Even though her and her sisters weren’t adopted they always felt extra special knowing that we were still linked to adoption through their dad. We know that if it wasn’t for adoption, Jessica and her sisters wouldn’t be here today.
Additionally, we have gotten to see how adoption positively affects young growing families through our friends. We have multiple family friends that have adopted children. Having such a personal connection to adoption only makes us more excited and eager to adopt and expand our family.
Our Leisure Time
We are both very active people. Joe enjoys wake boarding with friends in the summer. He is a natural and loves to teach our friends and nephews how to ski and wakeboard. Jessica is always making something. She loves to sew, paint, and craft. She just finished another personalized wedding gift for a friend and she is now working on learning how to crochet. During the week when we get home we love just snuggling up with the dog and cat and watching our favorite shows. Our big shared hobbies include boating, scuba diving, and most of all traveling. We try to travel to new places all the time. Last winter we were able to take time off to go to Italy. We are so excited to welcome a child into our family and take them on adventures with us.
Our Family Traditions
A small but fun tradition we have is taco Tuesday. Every Tuesday we try to find a fun taco place to eat or we make tacos at home. It’s a tradition we kind of fell into but it’s so much fun that we look forward to it every week. A favorite, much bigger tradition that we share with the extended family is Christmas. Every year we find our most hideous and gaudy Christmas sweaters and go to Jessica’s aunt’s house for a big family Christmas celebration. We have a big dinner, play board games, exchange gifts, and spend time watching Christmas movies and catching up with everyone. We can’t wait to add a child to all the excitement!
Our House and Neighborhood
Our home is in an active subdivision with families always out and about socializing, walking their dogs, or playing with their children. The neighborhood kids like to ride their bikes around the quiet cul-de-sac in front of our house. There are huge parks with beautiful biking and hiking trails just blocks away. On nice evenings it’s not uncommon for neighbors to go to the lake and fish. There is also an excellent school within walking distance of our house.
We live close to our family and we always have people stopping by to say hi or to just hang out. We both love our back yard. It is beautiful and quiet with a lake and woods. It’s a perfect backyard for friends and family to enjoy BBQ cookouts. There are always deer and birds to watch from the back windows. We like how our home is close to shopping, the community rec-center, library and more but still has a private rural feel. It will be a great place to raise our child..
Our Extended Families
Our families are extremely supportive and excited for us and our growing family. Most of our extended family members live close by and we see them all the time. Joe is one of five siblings with most of his family nearby. His two older brothers live out of state, but his sister and younger brother live nearby with their children. We have two nieces and two nephews whom we love to babysit. Just last night our nephews came over to play “fort” and watch movies with us. Joe's family loves board games and it's not uncommon for everyone to meet at his sister's for a spur of the moment game night.
Jessica has two younger sisters who are very close. Her parents are so excited to welcome their first grandchild to the family and to spoil them rotten! Jessica's mom is a nurse and is already planning on taking days off to spend time with her new grand baby.
Both of our families get along great and love to spend time together. During the summer we all spend as much time as possible at the lake with Jessica’s family and cousins enjoying boating, kayaking, and swimming. Our fur-babies Rigby and Rocky are also excited to have a child in the house for them to entertain with all their energy.
From Us to You
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We are blessed beyond belief because of your bravery to consider adoption. This would not be possible without your selflessness, courage, and compassion. We know you want what is best for your baby and we promise to give them a safe, stable, nurturing, and compassionate home.
We met just before we started college and dated for about eight years before we married. Now we have been married for about four wonderful years. We are a pretty active couple and have gone on so many great adventures together. Going to the lake, hiking, and traveling to new places are a few of our favorite pastimes together. Last year, we completed one of our greatest aspirations and backpacked across Europe for three months. Now we are excited and ready to begin our biggest adventure yet, as parents.
Ever since we met, we've been best friends and we always knew that we wanted a family. Even though we have always wanted children, it has been a difficult road. We knew we would not be able to start our family easily due to Jessica being a cancer survivor. Jessica had bone cancer when she was 7. The chemotherapy that saved her life also destroyed her ovaries. Knowing this we thought about IVF vs adoption. We prayed long and hard about both. After years of talking, praying and educating ourselves on the options, we found that adoption felt right in our hearts. Moreover, we feel as though this was meant to be. Jessica’s father is adopted and if that didn’t happen, she would likely not be here today. Her parents are both extremely supportive and excited for us to adopt their first grandchild.
Besides the joys of a growing family, we are looking forward to so many parts of being parents. We want to help raise and nurture the child to become the best person possible and to encourage and guide them to fulfill their dreams. We have so much love and are so ready to become parents. We already know this child will be the light of our lives and we vow to always put this child first and to love and cherish them all of our life.
From day one, adoption will be something that we celebrate in our family. The child will be taught about where they came from and how lucky they are to come from so much love; not having just one family but two families who love them. We will start communication with children books geared toward adoption and make sure they are comfortable asking as many questions as they want. We believe if we always focus on our gratitude toward you and the love we have for you, the child will grow up with a healthy self-image. As long as you’re comfortable, it would be amazing to share your child’s growth and adventures with you through letters and photos as they grow.
Thank you again for your consideration. We hope that we have conveyed a bit about who we are, our excitement, and our passion for adopting your child. Considering adoption is truly an amazingly generous and courageous thing. You give the most precious gift possible, life. Whether you choose us or not, we pray blessings for you and your child’s continued health.
