Our Family Dream

Another Beautiful Family Wedding

Our dream for this child is for him or her to one day look back at their childhood and not want to change a single thing.

This child will attend excellent schools and the opportunity to go to college, if this child chooses to do so, will not be a question. This child's creative side will be nurtured and we will be supportive of their interests from a very young age, be that sports, art, music, etc. It's exciting to imagine the possibilities as they discover their talents and abilities. This child will see the country. We love to travel and we can't wait to share adventures as a family!

This child will be a future big brother or sister! Our own brothers and sisters have played important roles in our lives and it's hard to think of growing up without them. Having at least 2 children has always been in our family plan because we know how special that sibling bond is.

We will do everything in our power to provide for this child, a rich and fulfilling life that will shape them into a happy, thoughtful, helpful, and well-rounded person.

Our Leisure Time

The Best Food is State Fair Food!

We love to take road trips together, near and far, seeing as much as the country that we can. Sometimes we will drive back roads and take the long way to get to our destination, we like driving through the small towns. Our favorite destinations are rivers and lakes. Camping or renting a cabin is probably our top pick and we often talk about one day building a cabin. We enjoy experiencing the big city life as well, just in smaller doses! We are both live music fans and have been to many concerts together.

Closer to home, there are many fun local spots that we frequent. Some of our favorites include a movie theater/pub, a huge variety of restaurants, and a classic arcade with video games from our childhoods. Every summer we head out to the Iowa State Fair, one of the largest fairs in the country. We also have fun catching an occasional Iowa Cubs AAA baseball game. Kim loves the thrill of getting a good deal at thrift stores and garage sales. She also has had a lifelong passion for photography. Her favorite subjects are abandoned houses, old factories, and bridges. Judd enjoys DIY home improvement projects and fishing. We both love to garden.

We've done a lot of fun things together but more than any of it, we love to spend our downtime at home. Home really is where the heart is, and our most memorable moments will always be here.

Our Favorite Vacation Spot

Judd Catching Dinner

We've been lucky to have been to some pretty cool places together, but our absolute favorite spot was Kim's first check on her bucket list. As a surprise for our 15th anniversary, Judd booked 5 nights on a houseboat in Voyageurs National Park in Northern Minnesota. It was a little intimidating at first navigating a floating house through the HUGE chain of lakes with paper maps, but we got the hang of it and docked up on our own little piece of paradise in a calm cove with great fishing and our own personal beach. It was raw nature and the most peaceful place we've ever been to or seen. We would literally go hours without seeing another soul, and this was in peak summer season. Our only company were the loons, otters, and moose!

The highlights were the sunsets looking out over Lake Namakan to Canada on the other side, and catching our dinner off the nearby rocky point that was just packed with fish! We've often talked about how much fun it would be to go back some day with kids so the water slide can get some use, although Judd couldn't resist testing it out a couple dozen times!

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

We are lifelong residents of Iowa and could not imagine calling anywhere else home. Job opportunities brought us to a new city five years ago and we love it here! Our city is commonly at, or near the top of many "Great Places to..." type lists and there is a reason for it! We have an excellent school system, a booming economy, and it's a very safe place to call home. There is a major amusement park and water park nearby, and we have an awesome downtown area which is home to sports teams, a huge outdoor farmer's market, and a sculpture park that spans 2 full downtown city blocks!

Our long-term goal is an acreage in the country that we will call our "forever home" but for now we live in a quiet and safe neighborhood in the city. It's an older neighborhood in transition with many younger families moving in over the last few years. An elementary school recently opened at the end of our block and there is a large park less than a block away with new, modern playground equipment.

Our home is a 3 bedroom brick ranch with a detached garage/workshop. We have a 3/4 acre fenced back yard with 13 HUGE pine trees making for a great outdoor space that we and our dogs really enjoy. Our favorite place to spend time is our back deck, which is basically an outdoor living room in the summer. We love it out there!

Our Extended Families

Fall Family Portrait

We try to make the 2 hour trip back home as often as possible to see our families and friends. There's never a shortage of good times with 8 nieces and nephews and another on her way! Whether it's holidays, kid's birthday parties, going to softball tournaments, family dinners, or just popping in to hang out, we always have a place to stay.

Kim's father is retired from John Deere and her mother is a master gardener. Judd's mother previously owned and operated a clothing store for several years and his father is also self-employed selling and servicing antique clocks. Judd's step-mother is an office manager at a hospital.

Summer Party With Family

Northeastern Iowa on the Mississippi river is a special place for our family. Some of Judd's earliest and fondest memories were camping and fishing trips with his Dad, cruising down the river on his big yellow boat. It continues to be a tradition to this day. Once per summer the whole family finds a weekend to spend together at Judd's parents' campground on the river, boating, fishing, and just relaxing. It's always one of the highlights of the summer and it gets better every year as our family grows!

Our families are really rooting for us in our adoption journey. We are all very close and everyone has been extremely supportive of us over the last several years through good times and bad, and they are so excited for us to take the next step to become parents!

From Us to You

We treasure and appreciate each other every day and we are very ready to extend that love to a baby and provide him or her with a life that you would be proud of. As a couple for over 20 years and married for 16, we have built a great foundation to grow our family. Should you choose to adopt, raising your child would truly be the honor of our lives.

Having children and starting a family has always been our biggest dream and goal. There is no more important job and nothing more that we want in this world than to be parents. We love our nieces and nephews and have adoringly watched all of them grow up with excitement knowing that one day it will be our turn. When we were faced with infertility and ultimately unsuccessful in conceiving a child of our own, it was definitely difficult to deal with but we never for a second thought that was the end of our dream to raise children. We knew that adoption was going to be our path. Adoption has always kind of been in the conversation for us. Even before we knew we had fertility issues we would talk about wanting to adopt some day. That helped us realize that it's not the HOW that is important. We are as confident as anything in our lives that we can make that special bond and connection, and give ourselves over to the love of any child.

In our care, your child will be cherished and nurtured and we will give them every opportunity within our power. Your child will be raised with the same core values that we were raised with and which we hold dear - honesty, humility, respect, and patience. Your child will be encouraged to have an inquisitive mind and to explore different interests so that they may be able to find their passion one day. Your child will know that there are those less fortunate and they will learn compassion. Your child will be spoiled by our parents and siblings but they will be raised not to take anything for granted. Most importantly, in our care your child will always feel safe and they will always know that they are loved unconditionally, both by us and by you.

We know that you want the best for your baby and we hope that your heart will guide you to us. We would love to send letters and photos (and crayon drawings in a few years) so that you can be assured that your child is happy, healthy, and thriving. We would enjoy the opportunity to meet with you at some point when the time is right for all involved, if that is something you would like to do of course.

We humbly thank you for taking the time to learn about us and for considering us as you make the most difficult decision of who will parent your child. We hope that through our words and photos, you will be able to see the love that we have for one another and for our families and we hope that you can get a sense for how a child might fit into our little world. We appreciate the fact that this profile can only give you a small glimpse into our lives and so we would welcome any other questions that you may have about us. We would be open to phone calls, texts, emails, etc. The most important thing in our view is that you are comfortable with us. We sincerely hope that we are the people that you choose to raise your baby, but if we are not, we wish you the best of luck on your journey, now and in the future.
