Clark & Jin
We formed our family with the adoption of our daughter and are looking to adopt again to complete our family. Adoption has brought us great joy. We cherish our role as parents and look forward to parenting a second child. We hope that you consider us.
Adoption in Our Lives
Adoption has touched our lives personally. Clark's sister and paternal grandmother were adopted and there are multiple adoptions in Jin's extended family. Adoption is also how we have made our family with the adoption of our beautiful daughter, Cali.
Not only has adoption affected us personally, but it has been one of the most positive outcomes in our lives. We struggled with infertility and adoption is what made our dream of raising a family come true. Our home lives revolve around parenting, so adoption has completely changed our lives for the better. We are hoping to grow our happy family with another child through adoption.
Naturally, our immediate and extended families have supported our goal of adoption. Our daughter does video calls multiple times per week with her grandparents. When we arrive at the grandparents' house, she is very excited to see them, and they are excited to see her. Our daughter also likes playing with her aunt, uncles and cousins.
We are in an open adoption with our daughter's birth parents. We send update letters and do visits. Both the birth families and us want to see our daughter do well, and that creates a bond between us. The open adoption has been rewarding for us as well.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other
Clark About Jin: Jin is a great mother. She likes spending time reading to our daughter, helping her do art projects and dancing and playing with her outside. Our daughter likes to watch Jin do gardening and cooking. Jin is very stable and grounded. She is very smart. She is good at coming up with creative solutions to life problems and business problems. Jin is an excellent cook who makes healthy and tasty meals for the family. She likes trying new culinary combinations with a fusion of Chinese, American, Indian and Italian cooking. She likes helping people through volunteer work. She has volunteered at the Teatown Lake Reservation (as a guide to the wild flower island), United Way, Igniting Minds (teaching math fundamentals to students in public middle schools in under served communities) and Habitat for Humanity.
Jin About Clark: Clark is patient, kind, caring and optimistic. He is always a magnet to children and plays all kinds of games with them. He loves animals too. He has a way with dogs in particular. He has volunteered on the board of directors of the Upstate Guide Dog Association, which trained service dogs for blind people. He has also volunteered for United Way and Habitat for Humanity.
Our Life Priorities
We really value our relationship, careers, family and friends, and exercise, typically by hiking trails in New York and Connecticut. We attend fun events through professional societies and the community, such as clambakes on the Long Island sound and pig roasts on our beach. Clark volunteers as the ecology chair on our lake's board.
Becoming parents has shifted our priority to first raising our daughter. We play with her and engage her in learning and fun activities each day. We like taking our daughter to activities in the neighborhood or town, the playground or to the swimming pool. We feel so lucky to have become parents through adoption.
We prioritize exercising and living a healthy life style. Jin is an excellent cook. One of her favorite, but simple hobbies is shopping for groceries. She works on making meals that are delicious and healthy. She likes experimenting and trying new combinations, rarely repeating the same exact meal.
Our House and Neighborhood
We picked our town because it has excellent schools, is very safe, and has plenty of activities for kids and adults. Our town has dance studios, baseball fields, a new recreation center with pools, an ice rink, new playgrounds, a play house, a movie theater, a boys and girls club, music and martial art instructions. Whatever interests a boy or girl has there is likely to be facilities supporting the hobby or sport nearby. The annual Halloween parade draws many people from nearby towns.
Our house is on a small lake with a nearby community beach and docks. We have an acre lot with plenty of space for children to play. The property has a relaxing country feel, but it is only eight minutes to town.
Our favorite rooms are the kitchen/sun porch and the family room that overlook the lake. It is like looking at a picture of nature. It is fun to watch the swans, ducks and geese. These rooms face south east and get plenty of sunlight. The setup allows us to get our daughter interested in cooking. She helps to season the noodle soup, dress the salad, and wash the veggies.
On the weekends we enjoy taking Cali to play in the library's children's section, going for a walk in town, going to one of the playgrounds or swimming, and getting lunch at a local restaurant.
Our Extended Families
Our families are very excited that we are planning to adopt.
One of the things that we liked about each other when we met was that family was very important. We visit Clark's parents in upstate New York on most holidays and during birthdays. We travel to see Jin's family in China every year. We also frequently FaceTime with both families. Our daughter really enjoys the visits and video calls.
Clark has a sister that was adopted at birth. She lives about three hours away. She dropped what she was doing to help us out when our daughter was born two weeks earlier than expected. We like to play word, board and domino games with her family. Clark's sister's two sons are very active and they like to throw a football or kick a soccer ball with Clark. Our younger nephew enjoys coloring with Jin and the older nephew likes learning Chinese characters. The highlight for everyone is playing with our daughter and watching her run around.
Jin has a brother. Our daughter loves playing with him when we are in China. We enjoy taking our two-year-old to the parks, kids playgrounds, and the zoo to see the pandas. We like exposure to multiple cultures. While in China we sample various Chinese foods from Sichuan, Yunan and Beijing.
From Us to You
Hi. We are Clark and Jin. Thank you for reading our profile and considering us as a family for your child. We recognize the decision you are making is not an easy one and we admire your courage tremendously. Through adoption, our dream of becoming parents came true two years ago. Now our dear daughter, Cali, is two years old and we are ready to expand the family again through adoption.
We are in an open adoption with the birth parents of our daughter. We exchange letters, emails and photos, and do visits with them. We can share letters and photos and have visits with you too.
We have been together for 10 years and have been married since 2016. We are fortunate to have a very stable and loving relationship. Traveling, hiking, reading, and spending time with family and friends are our common interests. Jin enjoys gardening and cooking. Clark likes learning about technology, finance and cars. We have worked and traveled around the world.
When we started dating, we were glad to see that both of us were family oriented and we both wanted two children. We tried to conceive a child but were not able to. The decision to adopt our first child was the best decision we have made together. Our daughter has brought us great joy and changed our lives. Sharing the small things in life such as when our toddler learns a new word or teaching our child how to water a garden is what makes parenting so enjoyable for us. We both have siblings and we believe the lifelong companionship between the siblings will benefit our children. We would love to welcome another child into our family and to see him or her grow and flourish.
We recognize that every child is unique. We will encourage our children to pursue their interests. For example, while we both enjoy music, it was evident from a very young age that our daughter is more musical than we are, so we have been playing much more music with her around.
We believe education will help the children to develop and reach their full potential. We can promise you to provide a caring, nurturing environment from day one for your child to learn and have fun.
We selected our town due to its excellent schools with the hope that we can build a family here. Our town has been rated the best town in Connecticut multiple times and has also been rated one of the safest towns in America. We have excellent pediatricians and medical facilities nearby. There are plenty of children's activities in the area. Our town has a new library with a fun children's section, a new recreation center with a pool and children's water playground, and there are multiple playgrounds, sports fields, musical opportunities and dance centers.
Our daughter's birth mother told us during a visit that when she sees us with our daughter, she knows that she picked the right parents. Those words touch us deeply for we feel the additional responsibility that comes with parenting a child born to someone else. We want the birth parents of our children to be proud that they picked us.
You may be weighing one of the hardest decisions that a person can make. We support you however you decide. If we become the parents of your child, we will tell your child how you loved them and that you thought carefully about making the best choice for their future.
