Jerrold & Bethany
We want to express our sincere gratitude for the time you are taking to read our profile! It would be a great privilege to have the opportunity to share our unending love and fun adventures with a child. As a couple, we are strong together, supportive, dedicated to family, and like to have fun. We hope you will consider us as parents for your child. We are excited for the journey ahead!
Our Leisure Time
In our leisure time we both spend time together relaxing and have individual hobbies we enjoy as well. When together we often watch movies or spend time outdoors. When outdoors we enjoy resting at the beach or taking a long walk. We also enjoy photography and often take several photos of nature where we live. Some of our best photos include the Northern Lights, mountains, lakes, coastal areas, sunsets, and wildlife such as bears, moose, and whales. This time spent together is quality that we cannot wait to share with a little one.
Bethany's individual leisure time activities include reading, cooking, painting, or quilting. Currently she is working on a painting she drew of the different plants and flowers on Oahu. When quilting, Bethany often makes seasonal napkins, table runners, or baby quilts for family and friends. She is excited to one day have the opportunity to make a quilt for a new member of our family.
Jerrold has many activities he enjoys in his leisure time including researching aviation, working with his flight simulator, auto restoration, and mechanical work. Currently Jerrold uses his flight simulator to help prepare him in acquiring his private pilot's license. He is also working on resorting the family's 1974 Bronco that was passed down from his grandfather. Jerrold's hope is to one day to restore a vintage vehicle for their future child when they are old enough to drive. He is excited to share his leisure time and hobbies with a new family member.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other
Bethany About Jerrold: Jerrold is the most amazing person I know. I feel so blessed to have him in my life. He is kind, caring, loyal, protective, honest, strong, humble, and fun. He can joke and make you laugh. Then he can turn around and have a thought-provoking conversation with you. Jerrold is a quiet person overall. He always puts forth his best for me and does all he can for his family. Jerrold always makes an effort to tell me how he appreciates the meals I cook, the care I take of the house and reminds me how much he loves me. There is not a day that goes by where I don't feel loved or appreciated. This is how I know he will be an amazing father.
Jerrold About Bethany: Bethany is the most wonderful person that I have had the privilege of knowing. If I only had a few words to describe her, I would say loving, selfless, dedicated, passionate, honest, and motivated. She has always supported me in everything that I have done. She supports me at my work, with my hobbies, my education, and my future dreams. Bethany loves to take care of people and makes the best meals. Especially her homemade blueberry pie. She takes time to show care for others in different ways such as making baby quilts for our new nieces or nephews. I have always felt loved and needed by her. I know that she will be an excellent mother for our children.
Adoption in Our Family
Adoption is already part of our family's story on both sides. Bethany has two cousins who were adopted as infants. They were part of every family function and Bethany has great memories with them! Bethany always was excited to see them when they would travel up and visit from Texas. The cousins have shared that they could not have asked for a more loving and accepting grandfather, grandmother, and family and shared many memories as well as love with them.
Jerrold's father, uncle, and aunt were adopted by their stepfather and they have expressed how Grandpa always shared his love, compassion, and knowledge with them. They praise him on being the best father and are very grateful he was there to share his love.
We are excited to grow our family through adoption and cannot wait to be a part of this wonderful journey. Adoption is a natural part of our family and our history.
Our House and Neighborhood
Currently, we reside in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. We live on a military post in a very family friendly neighborhood. There are multiple parks, a movie theater, a bowling alley, an arts and crafts store, a gym, a chapel, and two elementary schools in their neighborhood. The parks are well maintained and there is play equipment for small children. At one park there is a splash pad water park area. All areas are lush with beautiful trees and flowers. Children often walk to school and are seen riding bikes with one another throughout the neighborhood and parks. There is full-time daycare available within the neighborhood as well. The military often has family fun days, where the service member has the afternoon off to spend quality time with their families.
As of right now all of our neighbors have children ranging from newborn to high school age. Often on the weekends we get together with neighbors to barbecue and play games. During these get-togethers, our cat, Cali, watches quietly and our dog, Lacy, enjoys playing with the neighborhood kids.
On holidays many of the neighbors will get together and have a big dinner where each neighbor brings one of their different traditional side or main dishes. This is always a fun time to enjoy and experience different dishes and cultural traditions.
Our Extended Families
We grew up in a small town together and the family on both sides is very close as well as supportive. To us, a family is of the utmost importance. Anytime we can go back to spend quality time with our families, we do. Since both families live in the same town it makes going back to see family easier.
When spending time with Bethany's family the activities often include riding horses, camping, antiquing, watching TV, sitting around a campfire, and grilling together are a few of our quality time activities. During the time spent with Jerrold's family, the actives include cooking together, playing board games, four-wheeling, fishing, and leisure time. We have two nephews and two nieces ages 2-12. Spending time with them is one of our top priorities when we visit and we will often take them to the park, fish hatchery, or just spend quality time together playing games, baking, churning butter, or building.
Our families are excited to welcome a new child to the family and continually talk about the special times they look forward to. The Grandpas often talks about being excited to teach a grandchild how to ride horse and fish as they grow. While the Grandmas talk about snuggles and sharing family traditions, like Christmas tree decorating and making Christmas cookies, with another grandchild. Our nieces and nephews cannot wait to welcome a cousin!
From Us to You
Aloha, our names are Jerrold and Bethany. We want to sincerely thank you for taking the time to get to know us. At this time we live in Hawaii. Jerrold is in the Army and Bethany is an English Language Learners teacher. We have been married for almost ten years. The military life has provided us with endless adventure and places to explore. However, we are never alone in any of these moves. Our dog and cat always come with us no matter where we go. They are our family and so dear to our hearts. They look forward to someday having another family member!
Six years ago we tried to conceive and build a family. Due to reasons beyond our control, we are not able to conceive. Since our hearts were set on a family this became a difficult time, but now looking back it is one of the building blocks to what will one day be our greatest blessing.
As a couple, we truly believe that everything happens for a reason. Through this heartache, we were able to grow stronger as a couple. We also took this time to examine what was important to us. After lots of prayer and late night talks we knew we wanted to be parents and to us the biology was never important; it was having a child to raise, love, and share our lives with. As we look back we realize that God does not close one door without opening another. When one day, we meet the child we are to share our love and lives with, this truly will be the greatest blessing!
Our journey is just beginning and we are overjoyed at the idea of sharing our love as well as our home with a child. Bethany cannot wait to be able to make a baby quilt for a new little one and both of us cannot wait to have the privilege of being parents. For our future child, we want them to know that we will always be there for them and be a source of comfort as well as encouragement. We plan on raising a future child with values such as honesty, courage, trust, compassion, honor, and faith in our Lord. We are anxious to share our family traditions as well as create new ones together. We want you to know that we want to give your child all of our love.
We cannot begin to imagine the magnitude of the decision you must make and is one that takes a great deal of courage and love. We want you to know that we will provide an environment filled with joy for your child. If you would like to know more about us throughout this journey we are open to video chat or phones calls to establish a relationship and answer any questions you may have. We plan to be open and up front with a child about their adoption. We would like to create an adoption book that documents, in pictures and writing, their journey so they may have it as a story of their beginnings. It is important to us that a future child knows and understands that though we have two different stories, to begin with, our paths joined to make one story that will grow as we grow as a family. Please know that we want to share your child's journey as well as their accomplishments through pictures and letters. We hope you may consider us as potential parents for your child. Please know that you are in our daily prayers, though we may not have met yet, as we all continue through this new journey.
All Our Respect,
Jerrold & Bethany
