Our Leisure Time

Boat Time!

We are both avid outdoor enthusiasts, with a love for hiking, kayaking, camping, and fishing. We spend several weekends every summer fishing on the boat with Jen's parents, a hobby we look forward to sharing with our child(ren). Jen's favorite fish to eat is perch, but she remains determined to catch the largest bass of the season. We have many state parks available for afternoon or weekend hikes with our dogs. Wisconsin and Minnesota offer an abundance of lakes to paddle without ever running out of a new spot to explore.

When the weather prevents outdoor activities, Adam has an extensive board game collection that he is excited to play with anyone who is interested. Our favorite part of board games is that they bring people together face to face. Games are a cornerstone of gatherings with our extended family, from yard games to cards to table top games. Adam's side of the family enjoys a card game they have been playing for several generations.

We enjoy watching sporting events both at home and at the stadium. Basketball is our favorite sport to watch, Jen being a Bulls fan and Adam always rooting for the Pistons. We frequently attend minor league baseball games with friends in the summer and minor league hockey over the winter. We will look forward to attending any sporting events our child decides to participate in, cheering from the sidelines.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

Jen About Adam: Adam is one of the most genuine people I know. He makes friends and family a priority in his life, surrounding himself with equally caring and loyal people. He is devoted to making the people in his life happier, and is endlessly supportive. He brings humor and fun to our life daily, able to break tension during a difficult conversation or make me smile after a stressful day. He helps me continue to be a better person every day through his optimism and passion for life.

Adam About Jen: Jen is first and foremost my teammate. I can always count on her for support, advice, and honesty. When I have a bad day at work, she is who I talk through my problems with. She is the smartest person I know and I greatly value her opinion. If I am frustrated she will make a joke and snap me out of it. I love her determination. Watching her succeed makes me truly happy and pushes me to succeed myself.

Cultural Diversity

Our family members and close friends come from a variety of backgrounds (religious, racial and cultural) and play an active part in our life. We believe this will help our child(ren) feel welcome and comfortable within our support group. We actively seek out the diversity available to us, from travel to exploring a range of cultures through food. We have the opportunity to attend local festivals celebrating a range of cultural heritage reflected by our community. Regardless of our child's background, we will be delighted to explore their culture and make it a part of our daily lives. We will also strive to ensure they have role models with shared background and ethnicity. We are devoted to filling our every day lives with examples of diversity, from the food we cook at home, art and music we enjoy together as a family, to coaches, teachers and other professionals in our child's life.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in a small, quiet community just 20 minutes from a bustling bigger city.

Chillin' On Our Deck

We love our home! We have a large fenced backyard perfect for playing with our two dogs. Inside, we have plenty of room to grow our family. Some of our favorite activities including playing games, cozying up by the fireplace, and cooking together in the kitchen. Our backyard borders the local school. Many of the young children in our neighborhood cut through our backyard on their way home from school.

We are within walking distance of two parks and the library. Our community hosts several fun festivals throughout the year. On the Fourth of July it is a fun tradition to walk down to the local park, which hosts a carousel year round, to watch the fireworks and listen to live music with the rest of the town.

We are also within a few hours of three large and diversely different Midwest cities where we can take advantage of a museums, shows, and sporting events.

Our Extended Families

Adam & His Brother Dune Surfing

We both come from close, loving families and they are all thrilled to welcome another child! Jen's parents are already doting grandparents to their first granddaughter, and are over the moon with anticipation of another grandchild. They are close-by and we get together often to play games and celebrate together. We also enjoy spending summer visits to the lake boating and fishing with Jen's parents. Adam's father is retired and we get together several times a year. He is looking forward to having his first grandchild.

Family Thanksgiving

We each have a younger sibling whom we enjoy spending time visiting. Jen's sister, brother-in-law and baby niece live a few hours away and we take every opportunity to see each other. While Adam's brother and sister-in-law live in DC, we still make time to get together. The four of us recently took a trip to New Mexico where we hiked and explored several cities.

Holidays are very important to us. We host Thanksgiving dinner every year, and travel to visit Adam's east coast cousins for the Christmas holiday. We also have many close friends with young children that are sure to become best of friends with a new child. Our friends are truly a part of our extended family and we make time every year for "family weekend" to catch up and visit.

From Us to You

Hello! We are Adam and Jen and we are grateful to you for taking the time to learn more about us and our hopes as parents. We know this is a difficult choice you are facing and we want to express our commitment to providing a fun, stable, loving and supportive home for your child.

Over the past 16 years we have nurtured and supported each other through college, professional school, and career growth. During that time, we moved between 5 different states and have now settled down in Wisconsin. It has been an exciting adventure that we have had the joy of sharing together, and now we are ready to begin our next adventure as parents. When we married 10 years ago, we knew we would eventually desire to expand our family, and adoption has always been our plan. The last decade together has been full of fun, travel, and hard work to achieve stability in our home and professional life in preparation for parenting.

We are very excited to be parents and provide a safe and happy home where a child can grow into a confident, self-reliant person. We both share an enthusiasm for life, adventure, and exploration, and cannot wait to share that passion with our child. We are most eager to learn and experience new things through our child's own interests, helping foster a sense of identity that is all their own. Whether it be sports, art, music, dance, cooking, woodworking, or any of the millions of activities our child shows enthusiasm for we are ready and delighted to support them on their journey.

As a veterinarian, Jen has an innate sense of nurturing that she extends to family and friends. Adam's fun-loving sense of humor keeps our home full of laughs and entertainment. Family plays a large role in our lives and both our families are overjoyed to welcome a new family member. Grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins all anxiously await the newest addition. Likewise, our close group of friends and their young children eagerly await the chance to welcome a new child into our group. We try to take advantage of everything our community has to offer. We love spending time outdoors hiking, camping, boating and fishing. We also enjoy spending time going to festivals and events out in the community. By remaining active in our community we can help broaden a child's exposure to culture and experiences.

We will always be open, honest, and positive about your child's adoption story. We will gladly embrace your continued presence in our lives and are intent on fostering an ongoing relationship to the extent that you decide is best for you. We will happily send photos and updates regularly, sharing milestones and events as they shape your child's life and the person they will become.

Thank you for considering us as potential parents, we are excited to embark on this journey of parenthood. Our gratitude and respect for the decision you are making for both you and your child will be reflected in both discussions of your child's adoption story and our love and selflessness as parents.

Sincerely,

Adam & Jen
