Kris & Christiana

Thank you for taking the time to read our profile. We admire your courage in considering adoption, and we cannot begin to imagine what you may be feeling right now. Family is everything to us. We have so much love to give, and we would be honored if you chose to place your child with us. Our family has been impacted by adoption, and we hope to grow our family further through adoption.

Our Leisure Time

An Afternoon at Our Favorite Park

We enjoy spending quality time together with family and friends. We often go to the zoo, aquarium, or playground as a family. Christiana's parents and sister live nearby, so we get to see them often. We have a lot of friends with young kids, and we try to spend time together with them on the weekends. Our friends provide us with so much community and support, and we love watching all of our kids grow up together.

Kris at a Waterfall in Iceland

We also love to travel. Last fall, we spent a month in Iceland as a family of three. It was such a special time! We enjoyed hiking to remote waterfalls and beaches, chatting with locals at family-owned restaurants, getting familiar with a new culture, and staring in awe at nature! We also travel to visit extended family in Texas, Montana, or California every year, and enjoy exploring the mountains and islands in our state on the weekends.

Adoption in Our Family

Christiana's Parents & Siblings

Our family has been positively impacted by adoption. Christiana's sister was brought to her family through adoption, and they have shared a special bond since day one. Christiana's aunt was also adopted, and this woman was like a second mom to Christiana in her youth. We have been inspired by both of their stories, and feel so fortunate to have them in our lives. We hope that your child will benefit from having close relatives who are also adoptees.

We have experience with addressing cultural diversity within our family, as Christiana's sister is transracially and transculturally adopted, and Kris immigrated from Northern Europe. In both cases, we have worked to honor their cultures in our everyday lives. Some examples of how we do this are cooking traditional foods, celebrating culturally-significant holidays, and through music and dance. We believe that it is so important to honor and celebrate your child's culture and heritage. We will do whatever we can to make sure that they feel proud of their culture and history

    Our House and Neighborhood

    Home Sweet Home

We live in a suburb of a major city in Washington state, which gives us the best of both worlds: we get to enjoy a more suburban life, but we're also just 10 minutes away from a city full of culture, music, sports teams and great food. Our neighborhood is close-knit, and there are many young families. One of our son's best friends lives a few blocks up the road, and they play frequently in the park between our homes! Last winter, a once-in-a-decade storm brought snow to the area, inspiring neighborhood kids to go sledding and building igloos right in front of our house. We have lots of parks within walking distance, including an 88-acre park with miles of hiking trails, multiple sports fields and playgrounds, and even a beach right down the road!

    Our Pup, Baker

We live in a single-story home with 4 bedrooms, a family room, a deck right outside the kitchen, and a large fenced back yard surrounded by tall trees. We use one of the bedrooms as a shared home office and music studio for Kris. Our home is decorated in a mid century modern style, and is filled with music instruments and kids' toys. We love that our home has become a place of community and connection: we have family and friends over every week to share a meal and play in the yard! Our favorite part of our home is the kitchen and dining area, since that's where we gather.

    Our Extended Families

    Brunch With Family

We are so lucky to be close with our family. Some of Christiana's family lives nearby, which means that we get to spend lots of quality time together. Every Wednesday, Christiana's parents and younger sister come over for dinner. We spend time together reading books to our son, cooking a meal together, and catching up on life. We also travel together with Christiana's family a couple of times a year, to visit other relatives in Texas, Montana, and California. Christiana's brother and fiancé live a few hours away, and we see them every few months. They are great with kids, and we are excited that they will be moving closer to us in the next few months. Kris's family is scattered around the world, and visiting them just gives us another reason to travel to places like California and Europe. Both sides of our family are supportive of our plan to pursue adoption, and are excited to welcome a new child to the family.

    Summer Vacation in Montana

    From Us to You

Thank you for considering our family. We understand there are a wide range of emotions that you may be feeling, and that this decision may not be easy. Our promise to you is that we will love your child unconditionally. We will cherish their unique personality, honor their history, and care for their needs. We hope that this letter helps you get to know our family and values.

We fell in love in college, over a cup of coffee that we accidentally scheduled on Valentine's Day. That coffee date turned into a twelve-hour conversation, which then turned into a decade-long relationship. We have been married for seven years, and our relationship is loving and respectful. We complement each other very well, and people say we make a great team.

Kris is a father, software engineer, and talented musician. He is from northern Europe, and has lived in the United States for most of his life. He is one of the most patient people you will ever meet. Christiana is a mother, marketing manager, and avid home cook. She is very empathetic and nurturing. August, our toddler-aged son, is clever and kind. He is the light of our lives. We also have a gentle and patient dog named Baker.

Family is our first priority. We value quality time spent together, and you will often find us playing music, cooking a meal, or hiking together. We also love to travel. Last fall, we spent a month in Iceland chasing waterfalls, trying new foods, and petting horses. Christiana's parents and sister live nearby, and we see them often. Our son has a special relationship with his grandparents, and we are so grateful to have them in our lives. Our extended families are excited to welcome a new child to the family.

Your child will be raised in a home filled with joy and love. We hope to raise our children to be curious about the world around them, by encouraging them to explore and ask questions. We want them to be kind, and will demonstrate compassion and generosity toward others. We want them to feel confident and self-assured, and we will celebrate them for exactly who they are.

Christiana's sister is adopted, and we have seen first-hand the powerful impact that adoption can have on a family. Ever since we talked about starting a family, adoption was part of the conversation. The timing of our decision to adopt became more clear after Christiana's pregnancy with our son, which was difficult and complicated. When we felt ready to grow our family further, we decided to pursue adoption. We hope that our experience with being part of an adoptive family will help us navigate this journey together with you.

If you choose us as adoptive parents, we would consider you a part of our family. We would be honest about your child's adoption story from day one. While we would love to have an open adoption, we are supportive of whatever role you wish to play in your child's life. We will keep you updated on their milestones with photos and letters, and are happy to communicate directly with you over email, phone, and with in-person visits.

Thank you again for the opportunity to share our lives with you. This is an important decision, and no matter what you choose, we support and respect you.

    With love and gratitude,

    Kris & Christiana
