Christian & Jenny
We are adoptive parents and are hoping to add another beautiful soul to our fun-loving family. The process of adoption has been a wonderful and rewarding experience for our family. To choose our family for your child would mean everything to us. We have lots of love and hugs to give, plus one big sister in waiting to have her official title. Thank you for considering us!
Adoption in Our Lives
Adoption has made our family whole and we cannot wait to be parents again. We could not have been parents it was not for the bravery and kindness of our daughter's birth mother. We are able to share how we would tell your child about their adoption because we live it every day.
Our child's birth mother decided to place her for adoption because she knew she could not take care of her as woman struggling with addiction. We admire her so much, to have the awareness, courage and love to make sure that her daughter would have what she needed in life. Oliva knows she is adopted; we have never kept that a secret. She says she has two moms and two dads. We are age-appropriate in our responses to her questions. For now, and since she was a baby, we tell her that her Mommy wasn't in a place in her life to be able to care of her; that she was brave and wanted to find her a family that would love her as much as she does. We keep her birth mother up-to-date through letters, photos and texts. We've even had a visit that was really special for all of us. We are forever grateful and thankful to her for making our dream of having a family come true.
Our Leisure Time
Jenny is an artist. She enjoys painting, drawing and creating short stories in her free time. She is also learning golf with Christian and Olivia. She has never met a book she didn't like and loves to read. She is also an animal lover. She volunteers and donates at animal rescues. From dogs to cows and everything in between, she is an animal rights activist. She loves taking recipes and making them vegetarian for friends and family to enjoy.
Christian runs and bikes almost daily. He also enjoys golfing, comic books and every thing Marvel. He also plays guitar and drums. He shares his love of music with the whole family.
As a family, we enjoy traveling, puzzle nights and music. We cook together every night. We attend plays, musicals and enjoy art often. We love to play with our daughter too and look forward to sharing our hobbies and joys with a new baby.
Being parents to a bi-racial child, it is important to us that our child knows who they are, where they come from and to be aware of any challenges they may face.
We do this by reading stories about famous figures that share their heritage. So that our child did not just see people that looked like them in books, we moved to a diverse community. They see other people that look like them and it also gives them an opportunity to forge friendships with people of various cultures and backgrounds. We travel often, so that our child can see different cultures, communities and countries. We also celebrate holidays associated with their heritage. We love to cook together, and enjoy foods from all regions of the world. Most importantly, we are open to conversation in and outside the home so that we can learn about differences and challenges and be prepared for them. It is important to do this to put differences behind us and grow as a community.
Our House and Neighborhood
Our home is surrounded by nature and animals. We live on a cul-de-sac. There are three families that live on our street, two of which have children ages 2-16. They are looking forward to having a new friend in the neighborhood to play with. We have many farms with horses, goats and cows. It also has apple picking, pumpkin farms and a bustling New England down town area with shops, activities, fairs and family orientated events. We also have many hiking trails. We love picnics and taking our dog, Cooper, for hikes to enjoy the outdoors. Though we love our town, we love to travel. We think it is important that your child comes with us on our travels to learn about different cultures and learn about history first hand. They will have both small town values AND worldly dreams. They will be encouraged to learn, explore and travel. Since Olivia has been born we have traveled often with her.
Our public schools are rated #1 in the state and place in the top 20 nationwide. We also have several private school options in the area. If your child enjoys learning and shows promise in certain subject, whether its music, art, science, math or animals, we have alternative options for their educational experience. Though we do not attend church regularly we are very spiritual. We believe in accepting all people from all places and not judging others.
Our Extended Families
We both have siblings and lots of cousins around. We love to get together and have cookouts, camp, go to the movies and watch games. Thankfully, our family members are just a few towns over. We make a point of having dinner or lunch at least once a month. Every July the whole family gets together and we go on vacation for a week - kids, aunts, uncles and grandparents, even the dogs! We boat, watch fireworks, go to the beach and play board games every night. Summer nights are filled with laughter, ice cream and salty air.
During the holidays we have Thanksgiving and Easter at our house. The whole family comes and everyone brings their favorite dish. Christmas Eve is always at Jenny's family's house, where we have pasta and seafood. The kids play and open presents from Grammy and Pop-Pop. Christmas day is always with Christian's family. We wake up early to see what Santa bought and then head over for all day family fun, games and gifts for the kids. It is a huge gathering and we make lots new memories every year.
Our family is unique because we are a blended family, with step-parents, adopted children and lots of love.
Our family is very supportive of our adoption plan. They are always there when needed and play a big role in our daughter's life, and will in this child life as well.
From Us to You
First of all, we want to say thank you. Thank you for taking the time to read this and get to know us. Our hope is that, in getting to know us a bit, you feel secure in the choice you may make. We are not sure where to begin, so we'd like to share a little bit about our journey to adoption and who we are. We hope you see that we are good, genuine, loving people, that are going to love your child with our entire hearts.
Christian: I am a committed person who would do absolutely anything for my family. Although I am goal oriented and hard working, my priority is quality time with my loved ones. My schedule is flexible so I can attend dance classes and sports events ... everything I can. I am a very health conscious former athlete, and I work out every day ... not to compete and win anymore, but to be able to run around with our very active daughter. I will never stop trying to provide the best life I possibly can for my wife, daughter and future child, which also means a world of love, good health and smiles.
Jenny: I am professional snack maker, boo-boo kisser and tickle monster. I'm also a fun-loving and active person. Friends would describe me as a go-getter with a big heart. I started a business from the ground up and have been called scrappy on occasion. I enjoy quality time with family and friends, laughing and making as many memories as we can daily.
We have been together for 16 years. We decided that we wanted to have a family about 10 years ago. After trying to get pregnant on our own and not having any success, we saw a doctor. After we were informed that we would probably not be able to have our own biological children we started to think about different ways to make our dream of having a family come true. We did a lot of soul searching and praying. We came to the conclusion that the we were set on very special path for a very special family and that family was going to come to us through adoption.
It took some time, but finally in 2014 we adopted our first child, Olivia. She is the joy of our lives. Olivia is fun-loving and active child. She enjoys dance, gymnastics, soccer and playdates with friends. Olivia is ready to be a big sister and asks frequently when she is going to have a little brother or sister. During the week, we enjoy evening dance parties and cooking dinner together. We spend our weekends playing outside when we can, going to fairs, museums, aquariums and the library. We also love reading books and drawing lots and lots. We will be sure to take lots of pictures and share them with you when we write.
We hope that you will choose us as your adoptive parents. We have a lot of laughs, love and learning to offer!
