Anthony & Michelle
Thank you so much for reading our profile! We are extremely excited to become parents through adoption and cannot wait to share our lives with a child. We hope after learning a little about us, you will feel that we are equipped to be good parents who with the support of our friends and family, will provide a loving, nurturing home.
Our Leisure Time
We are blessed to live in a beautiful part of the country. In the summer and fall we spend our weekends outdoors enjoying the sunshine and the gorgeous scenery. Living near both the ocean and mountains gives us the opportunity to go hiking, camping, and beachcombing without having to travel far. One of the things we are looking forward to most is introducing a little one to the beauty of nature and taking them out on the trails with us in a back pack.
Anthony is constantly on the go and full of energy. He likes trying new things, exploring new places, and gardening at home. Skiing is also one of his favorite things to do and he is beyond excited to share this hobby with a child, just as he loves teaching his nephew. Michelle enjoys baking all kinds of bread and desserts and is looking forward to having a little helper. When Michelle's not working on improvement projects to make our home more comfortable, she loves cuddling with our dog Peanut and relaxing at home.
Travel is important to us, and we take frequent trips to see family in states from Colorado to Georgia. We've been able to explore different areas of the U.S. and have come to appreciate how unique our country truly is. We both love traveling abroad, and we hope to include a child in our future explorations to show them all the wonderful things the world has to offer.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other
Michelle About Anthony: Anthony is such an even-keeled person! He's very patient and always wants to provide support and understanding. Whenever I have a rough day at work, he's willing to listen and provide feedback. He is also a great problem solver- whenever difficulty arises, Anthony immediately starts thinking about how we can address it. I also love that Anthony always tries to be fair minded. He doesn't rush to judgment but takes his time to consider all the information he can. I think these qualities are going to make him a very loving, gentle, and supportive father.
Anthony About Michelle: One of the things about Michelle that I love, respect, and admire, is her desire to do what's right. Michelle cares very deeply about the morality of everyday situations. While recognizing that she can never be perfect, she always tries to put the needs of others ahead of her own. Whenever she makes mistakes, as all people do, Michelle is very quick to acknowledge them, try to make amends, and do better in the future. Michelle's wish to live an honest life carries over in how she treats everyone around her. She always wants to help others to be genuinely well and have rich lives. That's how I know she will be a terrific mother who will always put the best interests and needs of a child first.
Adoption in Our Family
Adoption has already touched Anthony's life as he has five cousins who were adopted, two on his mother's side and three on his father's. Growing up, Anthony's cousins were a natural part of the family and it was never a secret that adoption was a part of their stories. He fondly remembers helping teach two of his cousins to swim in the summer and enjoying Thanksgiving dinner with his other cousins at his grandmother's house.
Anthony's family has always been very supportive of adoption and acknowledging the unique history it brings. Two of his cousins, who were adopted from Guatemala, and their parents are all learning Spanish together in recognition of their birth heritage. Anthony's experience is that gaining a member of the family, either through birth or adoption, is a cause for celebration and another opportunity to learn, love, and grow.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live near Puget Sound in Washington state in a quiet suburban community near a large city. Our neighborhood consists almost exclusively of families with children of all ages. When the weather is nice, we often hear the sounds of kids playing outside, shooting hoops, riding bikes, and going after the Ice Cream Truck in the summer. For the July 4th Holiday, our neighborhood hosts a bike parade for the local kids. Neighboring children decorate their bicycles and ride through the streets. There is also a large green space close to us where families set off fireworks. During Christmas, most homes are decorated with lights and displays. There is even a "Most Griswold" contest. The community we live in has two dedicated parks nearby, one less than a block away. Blackberries grow wild everywhere and we pick them in the summer to make pie.
Our home is a two story with three bedrooms, a formal dining room, a family room, and a living room. We love having a dedicated dining room that allows us to have friends and family over for holiday dinners and parties. We also have a spacious backyard where we love to play and garden, and where our dog Peanut enjoys getting to stretch his legs chasing bunnies.
Our Extended Families
Our families are a big part of our lives. We are both the oldest children, and each have a brother and a sister. We are fortunate to live only a few miles away from Michelle's sister and our niece and nephew. We love to get together to have dinner, play frisbee with the kids, and share holidays. The past few years, we have created a new tradition of taking everyone to visit Michelle's aunt in October to go to the pumpkin patch and petting zoo. The kids tramp through the mud, pick out pumpkins, and we all get to enjoy eating fresh apple fritters!
Traveling to visit the rest of our families who live all over the county is a true highlight of our vacations, and we never regret a second of it! It's given us the opportunity to explore and enjoy so many different places. Getting the chance to spend time with siblings, parents, grandparents, and our other niece and nephew is something that we love and cherish.
Both of our families have rich cultural heritage, and more importantly, good recipes! Anthony's family has German and Polish roots and his grandmothers make great Sauerbraten and sausages whenever we see them. Michelle is half Mexican and grew up making tamales at Christmas with her grandmother. We look forward to sharing these same traditions with a child, as we already do with the rest of our families.
From Us to You
Hello! Our names are Anthony and Michelle, and we appreciate you taking the time to read through our profile and get to know us. We recognize that this decision is a difficult one and that you've no doubt spent a lot of time considering the possibilities for your child's future. We want you to know that we would feel very blessed to be able to provide a loving and stable home.
We met seven years ago when Michelle's sister invited Anthony on a hike. A few months later, we began dating, and we've now been married for four and a half wonderful years. From the very beginning of our relationship, we always envisioned having children. We've both spent a lot of time thinking about how we would want to raise a family, and what things from our own childhoods we wanted to share. When we were eventually learned that we could not have children biologically, those hopes of having a family didn't vanish but instead turned into a new dream of having a family through adoption.
We are very blessed to have a strong support system of friends and family. Both our siblings and friends have small children who would love to have a new cousin to play with, and we are excited share our love with your child! We are both part of close-knit families, and even though we are all spread out among several states, we make it a priority to visit and stay in contact as often as we can. We look forward to sharing holidays, the natural beauty of our world, and a million special moments with your child.
Just as we know that this is undoubtedly a difficult decision for you, neither have we approached the decision to become parents lightly. We are involved in the lives of our nieces and nephews and know that parenting can be challenging. But we've also witnessed how rewarding it can be and are honored to have the opportunity to help shape their lives. We would be privileged to love and nurture your child, to walk with them through the good and the bad, and see them develop into a happy, healthy adult.
We believe that being present as parents is incredibly important, especially when a child is young. Both of our mothers stayed home to raise us and our siblings, and we feel that had a very positive influence on our childhoods. Following their example, Michelle is planning to stay home and parent full time. Anthony is fortunate to have a job with considerable flexibility. He will be able to work from home when needed or adjust his schedule to make sure he is present for every important moment and provide support to our family.
We know that adoption is always going to be a part of your child's story and we intend to be open and honest with them about how they came to be part of our family. We look forward to sharing our family heritage and history with your child and would be grateful to also share as much of your history as you feel comfortable with. We are excited to show your child our love as they grow, and we want you to be able to see that as well in regular letters and pictures. We also hope to have the opportunity to develop our relationship with you and meet as one family in the future. If you would like to meet us at the start of our journey together, we would welcome the opportunity to get to know each other better.
Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time read our words. By the grace of God, we would be truly privileged to provide a loving home for your child. No matter what, we respect your decision.
