Our Life Priorities

Hiking in Joshua Tree National Park

Our family has cultivated what is important to us and what influences our life path throughout the years we've been partners. For us, being a good person, loving fully, caring for one another, pursuing your passions, and spending time together as a family are important priorities. It's important for us to raise a child to live by similar life values and goals. We want to teach our child to be the next generation of thoughtful, responsible people.

We believe in hard work and we give a lot of our time to the passions we love, including our day jobs. Through our careers, side projects and volunteering, we value learning and improving our skills and progressing in our professional lives as well as our personal lives. We highly prioritize spending time with each other. We hike together, travel together, cook together, eat at the dinner table together, play video and board games together, watch our favorite TV shows together; anyway that we can share an experience together as a family. We also give a lot of time and energy towards living a healthy lifestyle. We strive to limit our eating out, we hike and exercise, and grow our own fruits and vegetables in our backyard organic garden.

Our Leisure Time

Volunteering for a Good Cause

We are both lucky to share the majority of our hobbies. From hiking to hula hooping, we always know how to find ways to have fun in our leisure time. We love to hike and be outdoors whenever we can. We look forward to sharing our outdoor adventures and discovering various cultures and ways of life through travel with a child.

Performing at a Renaissance Faire

We're advocates for the environment and you can often find us volunteering for nonprofits that offer environmental stewardship opportunities, like beach litter pickups, invasive plant removals, or planting trees. We dedicate at least one weekend a month to volunteering and firmly believe in giving back to the community through service. We want to share our love of giving back with our child and know that community service is an important way to create wholehearted people.

We both also love to hula hoop! We're not talking about your average around-the-waist hooping. Hooping has become a way for us to exercise and to express ourselves through dancing. Staying active is a key element in what we do in our leisure time. We love living life to the fullest and hope to share that with a child one day.

Our Professional Lives

Nic has worked in the website development profession since college. He went to college for computer science and took a hiatus in favor of a full-time position at a promising online startup. He worked his way up from Junior Engineer to Senior Manager and now manages a team of employees across the country. He also co-owns a gaming startup alongside his corporate job at an Amazon subsidiary that focuses on video gamers. Nic has a self-starter attitude and believes that everyone deserves to do what they love in life.

Chrisha received her Bachelor's of Music Education in 2008 and has been an educator for 13 years and counting. She worked as a private music lesson teacher for 10 years teaching clarinet, flute, trumpet, oboe, piano, ukulele, guitar, and music classes for younger children. In 2010, Chrisha started her own small business. She performs with hula hoops at events, teaches dance classes, and makes hula hoops. In 2016, Chrisha started teaching environmental science, another passion of hers. Chrisha is currently an environmental educator with two non-profits where she teaches her students in outdoor classrooms. Chrisha's professional careers have all been fueled by her personal passions in her life; education, music, dance and movement, and the outdoors. She has worked with kids and adults of all ages and feels grateful for the work that she does. She believes that education is the foundation of our lives and believes that every child deserves knowledge.

Our Extended Families

Chrisha's Family

Our families are very important to us. Although our families live throughout the country, we're fortunate to live in the age of technology. We regularly talk to our families via phone or video calling.

Nic's Family

We both grew up in tight-knit families with close relationships to our siblings and that continues to this day. Chrisha is a middle child with two sisters and Nic is the oldest child with one sister. Our sisters have children that we love to spend time with when we are visiting. Having nieces and nephews is so much fun! When we get together, we love cooking and eating meals, venturing out to new areas, sight-seeing, playing at the park, and sitting around reading books or watching our favorite shows.

Twice a year, we spend time at our hometowns in Georgia where our parents live. We also like to take vacations with our families at least once a year. One of the most recent family trips we took was at a secluded cabin in the woods in Big Bear, California. Our extended family loves to do things like hiking, sharing gifts, cooking and eating dinner together each night, and drinking hot cocoa by the fire.

We're so delighted to have a collective of people who care about us and our adoption plan. These people include our supportive family and dear friends who we consider our foundation. We are thankful for their support and respect throughout our adoption journey.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home in California

We absolutely love living in our community. Our primary home is located in a safe suburban city in Southern California where the terrain is wonderfully diverse. We live near beautiful, scenic areas that include the mountains, desert, and beach all within a short distance of our home. Our neighborhood is walking distance to local hiking trails, community pools, and plenty of parks where children play and the community gathers for music concerts during the summer months. One of our favorite community events is the farmer's market near the beach. We love visiting the Saturday farmer's market to purchase fresh flowers, organic produce, freshly baked pastries, and artisan crafts. After we shop, we grab lunch to enjoy on the beach.

Our Home in Oregon

We have a secondary home is located in Oregon nestled in 12 acres of forests where wildlife and hiking are in abundance. This home is close to the city with access to libraries, parks, rivers and creeks, top-rated school systems, and fun opportunities for all ages. We want to share our forever home and live in the forest together as a family in the near future.

From Us to You

Our hearts are full and ready to include a new family member in our lives. We believe adoption is a special way to start our family and are grateful to you for reading through our profile. Both of us want to be the best parents we can be. We take pride in being good role models and love each other deeply. We have been in a committed relationship since 2005 and married in 2011. We're so thankful for having the time to get to know each other throughout these 14 years as life partners. With mutual respect and support, our relationship continues to blossom.

Chrisha is an incredibly kind and thoughtful person. Through her personal and professional life, she is always striving to help anyone in need. She is always hungry for knowledge, she excelled through college and pushes herself further to learn new skills and have new experiences. She is a person of many talents, from music to hula hooping and everything in between, and she can pick up anything new she puts her mind to. Currently, Chrisha works as an environmental educator for two non-profit organizations. She has been an educator for over 10 years, teaching music and science. Being a teacher has taught her the importance of education and the joy you can spark in a child through teaching.

Nic is a caring, kind, and intelligent person. He is an innovator who always strives in his creativity. His drive for knowledge has helped him to become successful in his professional career. One of his biggest endeavors includes being at the forefront of a tech startup which was eventually acquired by a major company. Nic currently works as a Software Engineer for a tech company focused on video games and also co-owns a tech business in his spare time. Nic is a multi-faceted individual who enjoys reading, playing video games, coding, hiking, gardening, and spending time with family.

We support each other through thick and thin and have learned how to appreciate life and what it gives you. Our goal as parents includes being supportive through the dips and dives of life, providing quality education for our child, and carving out as much time to spend together as a family.

The word "adoption" will be full of positive affirmations in our household. It is imperative for our child to be aware of their adoption. We want to have an open dialog about how our family came to be, how much we love our child and their birth parents, how they came into our lives and their unique birth story. Our child will grow up knowing about their adoption story and how brave their birth parents were in supporting them through this transition. We truly believe that being open about their adoption story will create a healthy relationship between us and the child. Honesty is key to building a positive life experience and creating the best life for a child. We believe it is the best way to communicate their adoption story. We will always make ourselves available by listening, answering questions throughout their lives truthfully and keeping an open dialogue. We fully support both the child and the birth parents on our journey through life.

Some of our dreams for the future include starting a farm with an organic garden, raising various animals including our dogs and cats, farm animals like chickens and goats, and making our own honey from backyard bees. We believe in making our life as self-sustainable as possible through gardening, cultivating our own food, and creating a simple, rewarding life for our family. Both of us want to create a life with less material things and more love and gratitude in our family. We both live a frugal, humble life and believe it empowers our family to live with purpose.

We are open to contact and discussions with the birth parents throughout their child's life if the birth parents want the option to do so. We are so appreciative of birth parents and their adoption plan and will honor contact through pictures, emails, and letters. We will respect the adoption plan, appreciate the bravery it takes to make the decision, and promise to always have your child's best interest at heart.

With lots of love,

Nic & Chrisha
