Kassidy & Alison
Our lives have been touched by adoption in so many different ways. We have always known that God intended us to be on this journey. Thank you for considering adoption and taking the time to view our profile. We know this is not an easy decision, but we are in awe of your strength and courage. If chosen, we promise to create a safe, happy, and loving home for your child.
Adoption in Our Lives
Adoption is already a very special part of our family and we cannot wait to add another adoption story to our family tree!
Alison was adopted by her parents at 8 days old. From the day she left the hospital, she has known that she was adopted. It is a part of her identity, and from a very young age she knew she wanted to adopt a child.
Kassidy's first experience with adoption was when he was 10 years old. His parents decided to adopt internationally. He was included in the process from the very beginning and enjoyed helping chose where they would adopt from. His family adopted his sister, Arianna, from Russia when she was 9 months old. Kassidy and Arianna have a very close relationship and she has made an incredible impact on his desire to adopt.
Also, Kassidy's brother adopted two boys from Ethiopia a few years ago. We have learned so much from their family about interracial adoption and the unique challenges that it brings. They have also provided us guidance through the adoption process.
Diversity in Our Family
We are so blessed to have an array of cultures within our family. Kassidy's brother adopted two of his children from Ethiopia. We have learned so much about their culture and how it differs from ours.
We have seen first-hand the beauty of becoming a blended family. Having nephews of a different race has not come without its challenges. Before having them in our lives, we were blind to the racial issues within our society. We are aware that we may be questioned about the race of our child. However, we promise to create a supportive environment for any child. We will educate ourselves and others on the race and culture of any child we have the opportunity to love.
Fun Facts About Us:
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a small town in Missouri. We have been flipping houses for over 10 years. It is amazing to take run-down houses and create them into beautiful homes. After four houses, we have purchased our final project. We recently bought a large home on 50 acres just outside of our hometown. While we still have work to do to create our dream home, we absolutely love the outdoor space! We are able to spend time on our enormous deck looking over the river. We also have a huge yard where a child would have plenty of play equipment!
The house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. We love spending time in our family room. We have beautiful vaulted ceilings that make our home feel very spacious. Alison's favorite room is the master bathroom. It has lots of storage for all of her items and a large vanity.
Because we live in a very small town, our community is very close. Our elementary school has about 40 children per grade level. The same children in each class are also on the same community soccer, baseball, or basketball teams. Your child will have the opportunity to build strong friendships that will last a lifetime. We are members of the private pool in town so a child can spend the summer swimming with friends and even join the local swim team.
Our Extended Families
Alison grew up as an only child on the family farm and spent lots of time outdoors. Alison's parents live about 10 minutes away from us. Every Friday evening we go to their house and enjoy dinner together. On Sundays, Alison's parents come to our house for dinner. Even now, most of our time together is spent outside. We love relaxing on the patio or spending time at the pond.
You will not find a closer family than Kassidy's! He has two brothers, one sister (who was adopted internationally), and 9 nieces and nephews (two adopted internationally). Kassidy's mom, a.k.a. Granny, loves having everyone together. She treats everyone to pizza once a week and we all gather for Sunday lunch. In the summer, you will find everyone around Granny's pool! Kassidy is very close with his dad, Pops. They enjoy fixing cars together, working on construction projects, or other DIY projects.
Our friends have been a second family since High School. We often meet our friends at a local restaurant or drop by each other's houses on the weekends. There is always a group of kids around. It's great to see how our activities and friendship has evolved over the years.
We are so thankful to have such an amazing support system!
From Us to You
Thank you so much for taking the time to consider us as potential adoptive parents. We understand that this is a very difficult decision for you to make. We commend your strength and courage to consider adoption for your child. We hope you know that you are loved, valued, and appreciated. You have our full support and we look forward to the opportunity to become a part of this child's life.
We started dating 16 years ago. Our relationship started out by passing notes in the hallway of our high school. We managed to maintain our relationship throughout college even when we decided to attend schools four hours apart. We made it through by traveling to see each other every single weekend. After graduating from college, we moved in together and eventually got married in 2015. We believe God has a plan for everyone and our relationship is part of His plan for us. Since being married, our relationship has grown so much stronger. We couldn't imaging a life without one another. We genuinely enjoy our time together and you will rarely see us apart.
We have always known we wanted to become parents. After dating for several years it became apparent that we would grow our family through adoption. Maybe we would have biological children along the way, or maybe not. It turns out, the latter would be true. We never questioned if adoption was right for us. Adoption is part of our family culture and has become part of our identities. Alison is an only child who was adopted as an infant. Kassidy has a younger sister who was adopted internationally from Russia. Also, we now have two nephews who were adopted from Ethiopia about four years ago.
We believe that there can never be too many people who love a child. We would be honored if you choose us to love your child. Please know that they will always be surrounded by people who truly care about them. We will show your child our love each and every day. We know our families will also have unconditional love for your child. We promise to always share the love you have with them. We want you to know that it will never be a question whether or not you love this child.
We look forward to having you as part of our family. We intend to share with you the many life experiences your child will go through. We plan to share photos from their first smile all the way through their High School graduation. We are also willing to talk on the phone or video chat if you would be comfortable doing so. We are open to as much communication as you would like to be a part of. We respect your role in your child's life and would welcome a relationship if you choose.
Although we have not met you, we already love you. Even though we do not know your circumstances, we admire your bravery. We promise to create a family for your child built on love. We also promise to share all of that love with you. We thank you again for considering us to be a part of your child's life.
