Jeff & Jarica

We are beyond grateful you would consider us as potential parents to love, cherish, care for and raise your child as our own. We understand this is a very important and difficult decision, and will be here to support you throughout this journey. It's an understatement to say how overjoyed we are to be part of the journey with you and look forward to the opportunity to welcome your child with open hearts and open arms.

Our Love of Travel

Exploring Capri, Italy

Travel is something we love and truly enjoy doing, and will continue doing as a family. We tend to have different opinions on what the "perfect" vacation is – Jarica prefers someplace warm with beautiful water and scenery, where Jeff prefers to take the pure adventure route ... pick a destination and go explore and is good with a beach so long as there's scuba diving involved. This difference in opinion makes for a very fun and very diverse traveling and vacation experience.

We've been to Hawaii together, where Jarica talked Jeff into skydiving – the look on his face was priceless, but the experience of the amazingly beautiful views was even better. We spent our honeymoon in Cozumel, Mexico, which is a beautiful island, and for our second anniversary we ventured Vieques, which is a small island just off the coast of Puerto Rico. This was a wonderful experience. They have wild horses roaming the whole island and the people there were so nice – food was delicious!

Over the past nine years we've also traveled to Cancun (Mexico), Turks and Caicos (near Haiti), various places within the U.S. and our most recent big excursion was on the Amalfi Coast in Italy – it was breathtaking.

We're so looking forward to your child getting to be part of these experiences with us (not the skydiving, of course!)

Our Leisure Time

Making Superhero Masks With Our Nieces

We enjoy spending time with family and friends, relaxing with our dogs and enjoying the outdoors. We frequently get together with friends and their families…and often we volunteer to take on baby-sitting duty so our friends with young children can have a night out (we've gotta get our kiddo time in!) We enjoy hosting small get-togethers and host a poker game every now and then. Kids are always welcome at our house, so your child will have plenty of friends to play with.

Our families are spread out but we do see them quite often. We go up north to visit Jeff's family every year – spending a week on the lake or for our Minnesota Christmas tour visiting all members of his family who are spread out over the state. It's always fun playing in the snow or fishing with that crew. Jarica's mom and sister live just a few hours away and visit frequently – food is almost always involved. Jarica's also very close with her cousin, who has two beautiful girls we love to spend time with and participate in craft-time with. You're never too old to design your own superhero mask!

We have two dogs, Louie and Cosmo, who love to get cuddles, play and explore. They'll love getting to share their cuddles with your child.

Cultural Diversity

We believe in being open to learning of, and getting to know, cultures and backgrounds that may differ from our own and will continue to make this part of our lives with your child. We are blessed to have many friends in our lives from diverse ethnic backgrounds and have a love of travel to new places with cultures that differ from ours. In addition we enjoy eating and trying foods from different cultures and going to various events in the area that provide education from different backgrounds and lifestyles.

There are many ways to incorporate cultural diversity into your child's life, should your child's ethnic background differ from our own. We will strive to make them feel comfortable, welcomed and loved in their environment regardless of what their ethnic heritage may be.

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

We recently moved into a new neighborhood that has woods, wildlife and many state parks surrounding it, and near-by. Our neighbors are very friendly, but we do not see them much because all homes are on 3-4 acre lots with woods separating the properties.

We live in the top-rated school district in the area and have countless things and activities available around us, including amusement parks, museums (the fun kind with slides and kid-friendly activities), a fantastic zoo, caverns to go exploring in ... we could go on and on.

Our home is single-story house with five bedrooms (plenty of rooms for friends or siblings for your child), four bathrooms with a large open living room that flows into the kitchen. Our puppies greatly enjoy the open floor-plan, as it gives them plenty of space to run and play.

Outside, we have about one acre of open yard and back up to an additional three acres of woods, ready for your child's hiking adventures. And, while it's not Jeff's favorite to mow, we have a great hill for sledding!

Our Extended Families

Grandpa & Grandkids

We are very blessed with the people we have as our families and our friends. Thankfully, we are surrounded by thoughtful, caring and loving people who are very supportive and just as excited about our adoption journey as we are.

Family Vacation

In our free time, we love to visit with family and friends and cannot wait to introduce your child to everyone. Jeff's family is very large and there are plenty of cousins to play with, and aunts and uncles too. On Jeff's side of the family there are 25 cousins for your child to play with. His parents divorced when he was very young and both remarried and had two daughters each, giving Jeff four sisters and two sets of wonderful parents. Jarica's family is quite a bit smaller. She has three siblings, one of which has two young boys who are full of life and adventure. Both of our families are spread out, allowing us to make frequent trips to Illinois, Minnesota, Georgia and occasionally North Carolina and Texas for family get-togethers.

We alternate holidays between Illinois and Minnesota, spend time at the family lake house in Minnesota every other summer, and make annual trips to Georgia.

We cannot wait share these experiences with your child.

From Us to You

First and foremost, we want to express our sincere and heartfelt gratitude that you have chosen to review our profile and are considering us as the adoptive parents of your child. We realize what a difficult decision this must be and are here to help in any way we can, as we want you to be sure about your choice that we would be the right adoptive parents for you and your child. Please know, that we are committed to sending letters/emails and pictures on a regular basis so you know what kind of life, and family, your child has with us.

That said ... Let's get personal. :)

As you get to know us, you'll see that we're serious when we need to be, but we both love to joke around and have fun. What's life if you don't live to enjoy it, right?

Our life together (in a nutshell) ... Unlike many of our friends, we married, what would be considered, a bit later. We took our time to find each other. When we met, we both had established careers and both owned our own homes, and, shockingly enough, neither one of us had been married before. We joke because Jeff lived very close to the area that Jarica grew up, yet it took 20+ years for us to actually meet and it's clear we were meant to be together. Just four months into our relationship, Jarica went to Minnesota with Jeff to meet his family over Christmas. Jeff was exposed to Jarica's family very early - he ended up meeting her mom on our 3rd or 4th date ... just by chance, as she was helping Jarica get settled in her new home. During the Minnesota Christmas trip, several of Jeff's family members were trying to marry us off to each other while we were there. A month later we were engaged. We've been married for almost 9½ years and have been together for almost eleven. All 11 years have been amazing - and we're not just saying that ... we truly enjoy each other's company and can't imagine being with anyone else.

We've experienced a lot together in during this time. Shortly after we were married we started trying to get pregnant, but it wasn't as easy as all our friends made it out to be. We quickly transitioned to infertility treatments. We had several successful IVF cycles which resulted in pregnancy; however, all resulted in miscarriages - four miscarriages in total, after eight long years of trying to get pregnant. We've discussed adoption all along the way and after our last miscarriage in December of 2017, and allowing ourselves time to grieve our losses, we decided it was time to go about building a family in a different way. It was time to move forward with adoption - the child we will be blessed with will still be our child because it will be the child that's meant for us, regardless of how he/she ended up in our arms and in our family. We tell all this, not for sympathy, but so you know and understand how committed we are to having a family.

Let's provide a bit more color as to who we really are. We honestly do love to have fun ... and make fun of ourselves on a consistent basis. Jarica, as well as Jeff, can be kind of dorky now and then ... who isn't? ... it's best just to own and embrace it. We are both dedicated people - to each other, to family and friends and to our careers. We both come from families where at least one family member has struggled with addiction and/or depression/mental illness - no one is perfect and we love them for who they are and do our best to help and support them. We have two fur-babies that we love, Louie and Cosmo - they have awesomely funny personalities ... you can really tell we've rubbed off on them. We love to travel and experience new things. And, most of all, we want to share and provide these same experiences to and with our adopted child. We have so much love to give and would be forever grateful should you decide we are the family that's meant for your child.
