Jim & Jill

We have traveled the world and had many adventures as a couple, but the adventure of adoption is the one for which we are most excited. There are no words to express what it would mean to us to be chosen to be your child's parents. Thank you for taking the time to learn about us and we hope that you consider us and join us on our next adventure together.

Education We Will Provide

Learning Falconry in Ireland

Education has been a large part of our lives and as such we will do everything in our power to provide your child with the best. Education opens doors. It provides options. It can change a life. It changed ours. Jill was the first person in her entire extended family to graduate from college. She has been an educator for 15 years with certifications in early childhood, elementary, and special education. She taught multiple grades, won Teacher of the Year, and worked as a teacher mentor and supervisor. She has always loved school and has been passionate about providing all students with a quality education. This would obviously transfer home to any children in her care as she is planning on being a full-time stay-at-home mother. Jim didn't always love school. He was quite the rascal in elementary school and gave the teachers a run for their money. However, by high school he buckled down and graduated at the top of his class. College was followed by work and then law school from which he graduated with honors in 2009. We personally invested in our own educations because we see it as a critical part of being able to pursue your passions. We will support your child in the career of their choosing, but equip them with a solid foundation upon which to build a successful life.

Our Leisure Time

Jim Flying With His Dad (Also a Pilot)

We look forward to sharing our hobbies and interests with a child. Aviation is an integral part of Jim's family and upbringing. He, his dad, and brother are private pilots and he was raised around airplanes from day one. "Plane" was actually one of his first words! Jim studied aviation business in college and managed to turn it into his niche and is now an aviation attorney. We love visiting the nearby Smithsonian Air & Space museums in addition to airshows whenever we can. In addition to aviation, Jim loves to hike and he played rugby and tennis in school. He still likes to clobber Jill on the tennis courts, but it's a fun hobby we enjoy together (even though Jill never wins).

Jill Performing in the 1940s USO Show

Jill has loved singing and dancing since she was a child. She started singing in church and performing in musicals in middle school and has never stopped! Jim has supported her love of theater by attending musicals many times a year with her and by being her biggest fan in the audience when she is on stage! She cannot wait to take a child to their first Broadway show!

Adoption in Our Lives

Adoption has been an important part of Jill's family for generations. Her grandfathers were both adopted (by family), two of her cousins are adopted, a different cousin and his wife recently adopted two newborn sons (biological brothers), and her sister and brother-in-law adopted her niece, Camryn, as a newborn in 1999. Adoption has quite literally built her family. We understand the difficult decisions that go into adoption from all sides. Camryn's birth mother remains part of her life and as such, she is part of ours too. We keep in touch through social media and she holds a very special place in all our hearts for her bravery. Jim's family does not have the direct connection to adoption like Jill's, but they are all open to and excited about the adventure of welcoming a new baby into the family. They all know how long we've been waiting to be a parents. Adoption continues to have an impact on our lives with our own decision to pursue adoption!

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

Our townhome was recently built at the end of 2015 and it has become a hub for our family and friends. Our home has 4 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and the kitchen of Jill's dreams. We have a small back yard that faces protected wooded land. We can imagine a child pretending to go on many adventures in this green paradise in the middle of a suburb!

Our Kitchen

Our community has a wonderful playground, walking/biking trails, and a large central park perfect for our annual family Thanksgiving touch-football games. Within our town there is a fitness and aquatic center that has a splash pad for babies and a small aviation museum.

Our neighbors come from all over the country and the world and there are dozens of young families (with more babies coming every day it seems). Your child would grow up surrounded by family and many friends in the neighborhood.

Our community is also just a stone's throw away from Washington, D.C. and as such we have access to some of the best museums, zoos, and historical sites in the country. We look forward to sharing all of these experiences and attractions with a child!

Our Extended Families

With Jim's Family

We are both lucky to be loved by incredible families. Jim is the oldest of three boys and we recently moved from across the country so we can be closer to them. We want to be an active part of our nieces' and nephew's lives. We get together often and Jim's brothers and their wives have become some of our closest friends. Jim's parents visit monthly and are actively planning on moving closer soon. Jim's family's favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. No matter where the boys lived, no matter what was going on in their lives, we all made our way back to his parents' house for the annual football game before dinner. Now WE host Thanksgiving and everyone comes to our home and it is a truly special time filled with a lot of laughter.

With Jill's Family

Jill is considerably younger than her sister and brother. So, they didn't all "grow up" together in the traditional sense and they have rarely lived in the same state as adults. However, at Christmas time we all (dogs included) make our way to Georgia to celebrate at Jill's parents' who recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. Chinese food on Christmas Eve after church and eating as many cookies as we can before Mom yells at us is still a favorite tradition for all of us. Time spent with Jill's family is usually filled with competitive board games, card games, and laughter.

From Us to You

We know you may be in place of uncertainty right now. Your devotion to your baby has brought you to consider adoption and we thank you for taking the time to get to know us. There is so much uncertainty in this whole process, but there is something of which we are absolutely sure. We will love, nurture, and devote ourselves to your baby should you find us worthy of the privilege of raising them.

We are Jim and Jill and we have been married since 2006. We started trying for a family a year later. That path lead us through years of tests, waiting, infertility treatments and many losses. Our hearts were broken with each loss because there is something, deep down in our guts, screaming out that we are meant to be parents, but it just wasn't working out for us. When going through times like this no one wants to hear that "everything happens for a reason." However, those years of tears have lead us to confidently approach adoption to fulfill our deepest desire to be parents. Those years lead us to you! We hope that by getting to know us it will provide you with that same sense of clarity and confidence as you navigate many difficult decisions ahead.

Your child would be welcomed into a stable and loving family anxiously awaiting their arrival. Jim is the oldest of three siblings and Jill is the youngest of three. Your child would grow up surrounded by cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents that are ready to love them unconditionally. We also have two adorable fluffy toy poodles waiting to snuggle with them. Being near family is something we wanted so much for our future children that we moved 500 miles to live closer to Jim's brothers and their children. Both sets of our parents are still married, 38 and 51 years respectively, providing us with and modeling the stable foundation that we intend to provide your child.

We have been married for thirteen years and we love our life together. We laugh every day. We have traveled the world together. We go on weekend "adventures" as much as we can as well as adventures far and wide. Living in a suburb of Washington, D.C. we have access to some of the best zoos, museums, and historical sites in the country.

We both value education and learning. Jill was an Instructional Lead Teacher at an elementary school. She taught for fifteen years and supervised and mentored K-5 teachers. She plans to be a full-time stay-at-home mother. Jim has his private pilots license and studied aviation business in college. After a few years in the aviation workforce he went to law school, and is now one of the top aviation attorneys in the country. We believe that education can open doors and change lives. We promise to support your child so that they have every opportunity to become the person they are meant to be with the education and support to realize their dreams.

We understand how difficult this decision is and we know this isn't something you are approaching lightly. We want you to feel comforted that your child is happy and loved every single day of their life. We'd be thrilled to share photos and emails with you if you so desire. We want what's best for your baby and we know that an open dialog with them about their birth story, including the devotion and bravery of their birth parents, will allow them to grow up knowing that they were loved since day one by all of us. We are ready to be parents. We are not be able to realize that dream without the gift of adoption. You will be in our thoughts every day as you make your decisions.

With love,

Jim & Jill
