Our Leisure Time

Enjoying the View in Cape Town, South Africa

We love quiet nights in and spending time as a family. With our friends we have a running game night that we have been doing since our time at college. We own many different games, some of our favorites are Rack-o, Sushi Go, Pandemic, Sorry, Clue, Risk, and Settlers of Catan. As our friends become parents their children are also included in our game nights. We spend a lot of time cuddling and playing fetch with our two dogs. Micah loves taking the dogs for walks in different parks around the area. We also love spending time with our families. We take our nieces to the zoo and have them over to make slime and watch Disney movies. With Lynsey's family we spend time at her parent's swimming pool and family trips to the beach and to Disney World. We also enjoy traveling and have visited Ecuador, Iceland, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. We try to make time to see the world, other cultures, and traditions; we can't wait to show our child the world and our country.

The last three years we have been extremely involved as puppy raisers for a charity. The group raises dogs to be service dogs and does this free of charge for persons with disabilities. The charity trains the dogs in prison and then places the dogs with us to socialize the dog. We really enjoyed having these puppies come through our home, and when the most recent one failed for health issues we adopted him. We are pausing our puppy raising for the adoption process, but we are hoping to continue with the organization by training our dogs to be therapy dogs. Both dogs are so good with kids and will love a baby joining our family. They will be best friends and companions as the child grows up.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

Happy Holidays!

Lynsey has been my best friend and the love of my life since we started dating our freshman year of college. She is a kind, compassionate and intelligent woman. She inspires me to be a better man and I can't wait to be a parent with her. Lynsey cares so much about the rights and needs of others. When life has taken a bad turn, she has been my rock. She has always supported me and my family. She was there to take care of my dad when my mother was in the hospital and I was out of the state. She also puts joy in my life. I have a pretty serious nature and she adds the playfulness that I need to my life. She is such a hard worker. These past years she has been working more than full-time and she was able to complete a master's degree on the weekends and evening. I know she will bring the same passion to raising our child.

Micah is the nicest, most caring, and most intelligent person I have ever met. Micah will drop everything and do anything to help people out when they need him. I learned this shortly after we met, before we started dating. Everyone was going home for the weekend, but I didn't have a ride, so he drove me home even though it added two hours to his drive home. He is always in the basement working on projects for me, family and friends. Micah is my best friend and the person I can always count on for anything. I can't wait to start a family with Micah and see him as a dad. I know that he will be the most amazing father, and I can't wait to see him love and care for this baby. He will shower the child with unconditional love and teach the child to be kind, responsible, and to help people.

Our Adventures

With an Elephant on Safari

We have a passion for traveling and seeing the world. For our honeymoon, we went to South Africa. We went on safari and site seeing in Cape Town. This was an unforgettable experience where we learned about their cultures and got to take in their beautiful ecology like Kruger National Park. We went snorkeling in glacier water in Iceland and canoed in the Amazon Basin in Ecuador. In the Galapagos we got to see the unique animal species on the islands. We also got to see a group of sea turtle hatch and crawl to the sea. We enjoyed hiking in the Blue Mountains and snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. With every trip we like to learn and gain a better understanding of the world, different cultures, and animals. We look forward to taking our child to learn about the world with us.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in a three-bedroom house in the county of a large Missouri city. Our house is a ranch with a mostly open floorplan perfect for a growing family. We love to decorate for Christmas with our collection of unique nutcrackers and a Christmas tree decorated with ornaments from our travels.

We live in a large and diverse neighborhood within walking distance of the elementary school. The local public school system is one of the best in the state.

The community has many unique parks and recreation activities including a butterfly house, lakes and playgrounds.

We are also only 30 minutes from the city center that has a pro baseball, hockey and soccer team. There are tons of fun museums that we both loved going to as kids and love visiting with our nieces. There is also a world-class zoo that we are members of and love visiting all year round. The local townships have small main streets that are great for walking around and spending a Saturday window shopping. We are members of a Methodist church in the community.

Our Extended Families

Micah's Family

Micah has one brother who is married with two adorable daughters (3 and 5). We are extremely close to their family and see them the most. We love going to the zoo, playing with blocks, or just watching movies together. Micah is extremely close with his father and loves to go hunting with him. Micah's mother passed away this year after a long battle with MS but is still a part of our lives by leaving us with amazing memories and delicious cookie recipes. Micah's grandmother, aunt and uncle live nearby and celebrate holidays with us.

Disney World With Lynsey's Family

Lynsey's family is close in the area, we spend a lot of time with them. Lynsey's older sister is recently married and hoping to grow her family soon. Lynsey's father is extremely handy and comes over all the time to help with projects. Lynsey and her mother are very close and talk all the time. Her mom works as a preschool teacher nearby. Lynsey's family loves to play games, Clue is a family favorite. Lynsey's grandparents and aunt live nearby and frequently celebrate birthdays and holidays together. Lynsey's family all have dogs and they get together for doggie playdates.

From Us to You

Thank you for taking the time to look at our profile. We understand what a difficult decision you are making, and we want you to know we support you no matter what decision to you make. We promise to love your child unconditionally and to raise them in a loving, nurturing, and compassionate home. We promise to give your child a great education and help them develop their own passions and the ability to follow their dreams.

We met in 2010 while we were both studying engineering. While in school, Micah served as a member of the Missouri National Guard. In 2014, Micah volunteered to be deployed to Afghanistan during his final year. When he came home, he finished his last semester and graduated in 2015. We both truly enjoyed the ups and downs that we experienced during our years in college. We became best friends and developed a deep love and commitment to each other. A year after graduation we got married and started on the journey of married life.

We both found careers as consultant engineers in fields we became passionate about. Micah consults on fire and earthquake protection for a property insurance company. Lynsey consults on building code requirements for persons with disabilities. Through her work, Lynsey has gotten involved with the disabled community. From this, we became involved with an organization that trains service dogs and provides them for free. The program has been an amazing experience. We have loved the joys and challenges of having numerous puppies by our side all day.

We both have a passion for learning and education. While school is extremely important to us, we both see a lot of value in learning outside of the classroom and using that to pursue a lifetime of learning. We love doing activities that follow this principle including taking advantage of local museums and the zoo. We also enjoy traveling around the country and across the world learning about different cultures, nature, and history.

We have always wanted children, but we also wanted to wait until we knew we were ready to take on this challenge. We have both always considered adoption and due to circumstances, the process of having our own children would be complicated. We are extremely excited about following this path to build a family. We both feel that adoption is the plan that God always had for us.

We are excited for the role you could play in our lives and the life of your child. No matter what role you choose to play you will always be significant to us. We are happy to send updates and photos so that you can follow the milestones in your child's life. We are eager to work with you to provide openness that will build a supportive environment for you and your child. We are committed to teaching our child about you and the brave choices you made. We are so thankful and supportive of you and that will always be a part of this journey.

With love and respect,

Micah & Lynsey
