Ryan & Stephanie
We have wanted to adopt a child since before we got married. We both have a strong desire to share our love with a child and give him or her the best life possible. To choose us would be the greatest gift you could give to us and the child. We are eagerly waiting to start the next chapter in our lives by adding to our growing family.
How We Met
We are lucky enough to be high school sweethearts and met in science class when we were paired together for a project. As shy teenagers we started off as friends making jokes and walking in the halls together. We learned that we had so much in common including our sense of humor. Our young love grew as we went through high school, college, and into our adulthood. During that time life threw us some curve balls, but we grew together and learned how to be a better partner with each experience.
Stephanie's favorite qualities that Ryan possess is his compassion and kind nature. He is always there for others in their time of need. He is always making life an adventure and his devotion to things he cares about in life is admirable.
Ryan's favorite qualities about Stephanie is that she is understanding and loving. She has the biggest heart and shows it to all of her friends and family. Putting others first is something that comes second nature to her. These are just some of the qualities that Ryan believe will make Stephanie an excellent mother.
Our Leisure Time
In our leisure time we love to do new activities. We are always going to new festivals, comedy clubs, restaurants, and parks. We always try to do something new on the weekends when we're free.
Ryan's favorite hobby is collecting and selling dinosaur fossils. He has been interested in dinosaur fossils since he was young and continues to learn and explore that world. Another one of his main passions is working out. He has competed in two bodybuilding competitions is proud to come in second place both times!
Stephanie enjoys spending time with friends and family. She is a people person and enjoys meeting others to go on walks or meet up for lunch. Another interest she has is going to the gym and watching hockey. She played ice hockey growing up and is in the process of finding a local woman's team to play for.
Together we both love taking our dog, Kona, for walks. She is so friendly that it's easy to take her on hiking paths or even to a nearby restaurant.
In our life taking care of ourselves comes first. We truly believe that working on ourselves, both physically and mentally, allows us to be better partners for each other. We put our relationship before everything else because we are determined to keep our love and bond strong. Life has its ups and downs and leaning on each other is very important to us.
Since we started dating so young, we believe it was our individual strengths that have allowed us to grow together rather than apart. Ryan has always brought laughter and a carefree attitude to the relationship. Not sweating the small stuff or taking life too seriously is something that he brings to the relationship. He is a loyal individual and when he wants to do something, he makes it happen. His drive is something that inspires others.
One of Stephanie's strengths has always been her positive and loving demeanor. When life isn't perfect, she will always be there to lift your spirits up. She is very thoughtful and always thinking of others and how she can brighten their day. These are just some of the positive attributes as individuals that has continued the growth of our relationship.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a wonderful community right next to a beautiful park where we regularly fish, bike, walk our dog, and kayak. We are so lucky to be able to walk out our front door to a trail that goes right to the park. We also have access to a beautiful pool that we take advantage of because Texas gets pretty hot!
There are a number of children in our community and many of our neighbors host parties at the community center/pool to hang out, swim, and barbecue together.
Our townhome is 2,600 square feet, which includes three bedrooms. Our favorite space is the upstairs bonus room where we have a oversize couch, a beautiful television for watching movies together, and space for our future child to play.
We both have cousins that live close by with children that our child can grow up with. That is very important to us because some of our fondest memories were created with extended family.
Our Extended Families
We live in Texas where we both have family who live by us. We're surrounded by cousins, their children, and Ryan's dad and wife live up the road. We regularly get together where we like to do lots of outdoor activities since it's warm most of the year. Texas is known for barbecue and Ryan's dad loves to have everyone over so he can show off is amazing barbecue skills. We all swim, play games, and just enjoy each other's company out on the deck until it's time to enjoy a meal together.
We also have family in Michigan who we get together with multiple times a year. We go to Michigan to visit and we have people come stay with us throughout the year as well. We love having a house filled with family. We created wonderful memories as children when aunts, uncles, and cousins would visit and we're going to do the same with our child.
Stephanie's family is very large and there's never a dull moment with them around. We're always laughing, playing cards, board games, and cooking up delicious authentic Armenian food. Ryan's family often joins the fun where we all come together as one. Both of our families are very excited for a child to join us and create new wonderful memories together. They always are asking for updates on our adoption process to see when they can officially welcome the child with open and loving arms.
From Us to You
Thank you so much for taking the time to learn about our family. We truly appreciate you considering us as you make this courageous and difficult decision. We hope that by learning more about us you'll be able to see the love we have for each other, our families, and our future child.
Our journey started 15 years ago in our High School physical science class when we were paired for a group project. Little did we know we were being partnered up with our future spouse and best friend. What started off as a friendship grew to become something more. On Halloween that year we decided to start dating, which is one of our favorite times of the year. We love to do all fall related activities: watch scary movies, carve pumpkins, go on hay rides, and of course eat all things pumpkin flavored. After high school we both attended Michigan State University (Go Green!) where we obtained our bachelor's degrees. After 10 years of dating we decided to get married on a hot summer day in August. Our friends and family from all over the U.S. came to our hometown and celebrated the joining of our lives together.
In our house the one thing you'll notice is there is a lot of laughter. Many times, we'll have an inside joke that makes us laugh until we cry. Having gone through the ups and downs of life together we've learned not to sweat the small stuff. We both have an appreciation for the outdoors and enjoy spending time fishing, hiking, and going for walks with our dog. On weekends, one of our favorite things is to try different restaurants. With so much diversity in Houston we're lucky to eat all kinds of authentic Ethiopian, Mexican, Middle Eastern, and Cuban cuisine (to name a few). Another thing we love is going to the ocean to enjoy the beach, fish, and have of course eat some fresh seafood.
Stephanie's family has always been close and enjoys spending time together. She has one brother and they grew up together in a house their parents still live in today. With acres of land many memories were made outside from bonfires, late night swims, and golfing in the backyard. In the Winter Stephanie's father would make a full-size ice hockey rink. This was a dream come true for two kids who grew up playing hockey.
Ryan grew up with lots of great family memories from visiting their condo in Florida to going out west with his mom to dig dinosaur fossils. Florida is where Ryan's love of fishing came from and to this day, he collects fossils. Science and working out is one of his biggest passions. All around the house you'll find fossils that he can explain where it was found, how old it is, and where it comes from.
Starting our own family has always been important to us and we have always wanted to adopt a child. We have a lot of love to offer your child and feel it is a privilege if we are chosen as the adoptive parents. We understand that this would be a great sacrifice and want our child to know that your decision was made with the child's well-being as the most important priority. From a young age adoption will be part of our life and will be presented in a positive light as it should be. In anticipation of starting a family, Stephanie chose a career that allows her to work from home.
In summary, we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering us in the adoption of your child. More than anything we want you to understand how much unconditional love and we have to give. We will devote our lives to provide all of the support, security, joy, and laughter we have to offer. We'd love update you as your child grows, including stories and pictures of their life adventures. We are open to contact as much as you would like as your child grows.
