What Makes Us Unique

Time for Ice Cream!

We are not the typical couple that you’ll see during your search. The two of us each have tattoos. Michelle’s arm is a beautiful, colorful arrangement of her favorite succulent flowers. Noel has one arm covered in various styles of Jack-o-Lanterns and his other is an interpretation of the Addams Family by one of his favorite artists.

Our dedication to creating fun, memorable moments can be summed up in one event... Noel once decided to shave his head so that he could dress as Uncle Fester for Halloween. Michelle dressed as Wednesday Addams and we had the best time. The following day happen to be very cloudy, so we put our costumes back on and headed to the cemetery for a photo-shoot.

We base our friendships on the personality of the individuals and not for the box others might see them fitting in. That has opened us to some amazing friendships with people of many races, religious beliefs and sexual orientations. You can learn a lot about the world when you get to know people that are different from you. Our future child will likely one day be seen at the grocery store wearing their favorite super hero costume or princess dress and playing the part.

Our Family Traditions

Our biggest family tradition is spending time with our families at Christmas. While we are not a religious couple, we love watching holiday movies throughout the month of December, the decorations and getting photos with the various Santa options available, and seeing our families.

Family time at Christmas includes seeing those aunts, uncles and cousins that we don’t usually get to see. It’s playing card games with the nieces and nephews. Big family dinners and exchanging gifts while enjoying some down time. We also try to have a group outing to see a local play or the latest Star Wars movie.

Halloween is easily our other favorite holiday for traditions. October is a month long spooky movie marathon, we love attending the local Halloween parade, and decorating the house. We both grew up working with our creative parents on our Halloween costumes, which we are excited to share with our future child.

Our Leisure Time

At a Temple in Honolulu

Our every day activities include first and foremost playing with our dog Studer. We are guilty of spoiling him so much that we prefer to spend our Friday nights taking him for a ride while we get take out, and hanging out with him on the couch watching the latest Netflix movie. Weekends are often spent meeting up with friends.

There’s usually someone to meet for brunch or dinner and share some laughs. This city also has an endless list of events for us to do with friends. We are personally big fans of the farmers markets, artists markets, live music and food trucks.

As an artist, Noel loves to draw and bring his ideas to life. Several years ago, he started selling his art at various artist markets and comic conventions in the surrounding states. It’s a fun way to express his creative side outside of work and meet a lot of like-minded people. When money and time allow, we like to travel. Not only to visit family and friends, but also to enjoy some time in the sun or great photography opportunities for Michelle.

Our Extended Families

Noel's Dads Side

While we do live in different cities than our families, it doesn’t stop us from seeing them several times a year. Michelle’s family is a few hour drive away, so we are able to visit them more often for holidays, birthdays and long weekends. This past year we attended a surprise birthday party for Michelle’s Mother, which included all of the aunts, uncles and cousins as well as several family friends. To make the most out of the trip, the following day was spent enjoying a water park celebrating a niece’s birthday.

Our Moms

Noel’s family lives further north and visiting them requires a short flight. We like to plan our summer trip during the state fair, which is best with a group of 4-8 people to share all of the delicious food with. Then, an early Christmas trip often gives us some snow, which is fun for sledding, snowmen building, and hot chocolate.

Our local friends are a diverse group in race, religion, and sexual orientation. We consider them our “Fr-amily”. Together we enjoy frequent nights out for dinner, attending local outdoor festivals and laughs at someone’s house. Both family and friends have been extremely supportive of our plans to adopt. We are very fortunate to have so many loving people in our lives.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

Living in Georgia, the spring and fall weather allows us to enjoy outdoor activities for a good portion of the year. Our home is in a diverse, charming, family friendly neighborhood just outside the city. There is no shortage of parks, outdoor events, walking paths, community pool, library, and museums to enjoy.

Our particular neighborhood has more families walking with strollers and/or dogs than we see cars. It is also a great area for a number of local restaurants and shops, which we like to support. Several of our closest friends are recent parents. We already spend quite a bit of time with them, and believe it would be a perfect situation for regular playtime and instant friends.

Our house is a single story, two and a half bedroom; open floor plan, which gives us plenty of room for playing in the house. The fenced in back yard is the perfect space for our dog Studer to run around and play ball. There is also a patio area decorated with lights where we like to grill out and spend time with friends.

One year for Michelle’s birthday party we set up a projector screen and watched a movie at night. Speaking of outdoor movies, our city as a drive-in theatre. It’s our favorite. We like to gather our friends, bring food and set up our lawn chairs to enjoy a movie under the stars. It’s very child friendly and kind of amazing.

From Us to You

We can’t thank you enough for taking the time to read our profile and learn a bit about us. Your consideration means so much to us.

Our story began in 2009… The two of us are introduced to each other several times through different friends. A short time later, we’re both laughing together at a New Years Eve party and realized a date was in order. Ten years later we continue to make each other laugh each and every day. Some people may say we don’t take life seriously; we like to think of it as making the best out of every situation.

The two of us had played a large roll in the lives of our younger cousins, nieces and nephews while dreaming of one-day becoming parents. During the past 6 years of our marriage, we have struggled with unsuccessful infertility treatments preventing that dream from becoming a reality. The unfortunate circumstance have brought us even closer together and led us to the decision of growing our family through the process of adoption. Imagination and creativity thrive in our home. Michelle brings with her the more sophisticated approach of a graphic designer and photographer, while Noel’s career in cartoon animation & illustration has more of a cute, silly, whimsical feel. These skills are regularly used for homemade Christmas cards, Halloween costumes, birthday invitations, gifts, you name it and we’re having fun with it. We also like to decorate our home with a collection of work from our favorite local artists.

We are likely not the average couple that you will be reading about during your search. The two of us both have full arm tattoo sleeves. Michelle’s is a beautiful arrangement of succulents, while Noel’s has one arm full of jack-o-lanterns and the other with the Addams Family. We are big fans of the Addams Family, Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, Marvel, Star Wars, Harry Potter and we see just about every animated movie that comes out. Big kids or fun adults? You decide. When time and money allow, our favorite thing to do is to travel. The past few years our travel has been mostly to visiting family and friends however, we got engaged while in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico while on a family cruise and spent a ten-day honeymoon in Hawaii.

Our families live in different cities, but play a big part in our daily lives. The regular phone calls, text messages, and Facetime keep us connected between the trips to visit everyone for birthdays, holidays and random long weekends. In a rare twist of fate, our families get along so well that our mothers went on a week long vacation together in the Caribbean. The photos of them drinking on a boat together were priceless! Then, after the passing of Noel’s mother in 2018, Michelle’s mom became somewhat of a surrogate grandmother for Noel’s nieces and nephew, which they absolutely love. With the two of us both being transplants in our city, we have made many amazing friendships that we like to think of as family. This “Fr-amily” of ours includes in a wide range of races, religious beliefs, and sexual orientations; all of which are welcoming with big open arms.

Last, but certainly not least, we feel that it’s important for a child to understand their adoption. Depending on the comfort level of the birth parent(s), that could include something as simple as a special social media account, occasional phone calls as well as organizing future visits. If the birth parent(s) would prefer less contact, we will gladly honor their wishes and proceed as necessary for the best interest of everyone involved. Thank you again for taking the time to learn more about us. We hope that we can be the couple you are searching for.
