Our Leisure Time

Made it to Hogwarts!

In our leisure time, we focus on doing activities together as a family. We live by a few different community parks and spend time enjoying the views outside. There is also a playground just a short walk away which our son, Jake, enjoys. Living in the Washington, D.C. area gives us access to incredible sights and activities while never being too far away from nature. The White House, the Kennedy Center and the Washington Monument are all a short drive away. We love family trips to the zoo, museums, amusement parks and hikes.

We love traveling together and look forward to exploring different parts of the world with our children. We have been zip-lining and scuba diving in Mexico, swimming with stingrays in the Bahamas, and also traveled to Hogwarts with Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Orlando. We cannot wait to take our children to Disney World and see their faces when they meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

When we want to have a calm, relaxing time indoors, we love curling up to watch movies together. Jake is always up for some Elmo, Mickey Mouse, and Minions!

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

Best Friends

Robyn About JJ:

JJ is my best friend. I can talk to him about anything and he will always listen to me and be supportive. He makes me laugh all the time and is an amazing and dedicated father. He has so much love for our son, Jake, and is so playful and patient with him. He loves giving Jake new experiences and teaching him new things. They spend hours in the yard playing with our dog Penny and rolling on the floor playing with toys. JJ is so excited to have two little ones, I know his heart will grow even more with love for our second child.

JJ About Robyn:

Robyn is the brightest, most bubbly person you will ever meet. She is someone who is easy to talk to and have a connection with. You can always count on her for a smile and a word of encouragement. She is always there to take care of me when I need it. I love her as a wife, but she was born to be a mother and my heart has swelled seeing her with our son. As a teacher, she has always had a knack for connecting with kids and that is certainly true with our own. Parenting is hard, but she always seems to know what to do in every situation. I could not imagine a better mother or wife to spend my life with.

Why We Chose Adoption

We Can't Wait to Grow Our Family!

We have always had the desire to become parents and have children together. For years we had discussed adoption as a way of growing our family even before we had our son, Jake. Following a very difficult pregnancy with life-threatening complications, we know that adoption is the way we are meant to complete our family. We went to talk to a social worker about adoption just to get more information and we got so excited just thinking about it, we decided that day that it was the path for us. It feels as though it is something that was meant to be, perhaps a calling from God. There is no greater joy in our lives than being parents and seeing life through the eyes of our child. We still have more love to give and want to make our family whole. We know adoption is the right choice for us and are so excited to adopt a little one.

Our Extended Families

Hiking with JJ's Parents

Both of our families live within 15 minutes of our home, and Robyn's sister and brother-in-law live 3 hours away at the beach. Given that we all are in close proximity, we get together often, whether that's just stopping in for dinner, meeting at a playground, or going to the zoo. This summer, Robyn's whole family vacationed at the beach together. Our son Jake loved spending so much time with his Aunt and Uncle playing in the ocean!

Robyn's Family

Our family also gets together for all of the holidays. We have fun traditions like baking cookies together for Christmas and barbecues on the 4th of July. Having our family close by allows for us to be together on all of these special days.

We have many friends who live close to us who are just as special to us as family. It is so much fun seeing all the children play together and exciting to know they will all get to grow up together as lifelong friends. Our family and friends are extremely supportive of our adoption journey and are excited to welcome another child.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in a family-friendly neighborhood in a Virginia suburb outside of Washington D.C. We love living in this area – it's very diverse culturally and offers many different activities. We can drive or take the subway into D.C. to visit free museums, international restaurants, and cultural festivals.

Our Fun Play Room

We have lived in our home for three years. It is a two story rambler on a quiet circle. Our top level has a kid-friendly layout that is also perfect for getting together with family and friends. The backyard is great for kids and our dog, Penny, to run and play in and we also have lots of cookouts. Our basement includes a playroom for our children. Our neighbors are very friendly and many of them have young kids of their own so our children will have friends close by. It reminds us of the close-knit neighborhoods where we grew up.

Our community has nice walking trails, a pool, and playgrounds. The local elementary school is in our neighborhood and within walking distance. We live in one of the best school districts in the country so our children will have a great education. We can't wait to bring our next child home to our wonderful neighborhood.

From Us to You

You have chosen to give birth to a child and are considering placing that child into a loving home. This is truly the most selfless act of love anyone can consider. It would be impossible for us to guess what this is like for you and what circumstances have led you to this decision. We can only hope that we are able to ease your mind by describing ourselves and the life we will provide our children.

We are JJ and Robyn and we have been a couple since high school. Seventeen years and going strong! We have been married for 8 of those years. Since we have been together, we always knew that we wanted to have a family and for years discussed adoption as a way to grow our family. Four years ago we were blessed with our son, Jake. When we discussed growing our family again, adoption was the path that we chose. Adding more love, bedtime stories, and snuggles sounds wonderful to us.

Our home is a very happy one. Together we have an awesome marriage full of love, happiness and laughter. We have a wonderful family and an energetic dog named Penny. JJ is a dedicated and funny dad, always engaging in conversation with our son and playing with him. Robyn is a nurturer, making sure everyone is well cared for and feels loved. Jake will definitely be a great big brother. He gets along well with kids of all ages. We have so much to offer and look forward to sharing our loving home and family with our next child.

We live in Virginia just outside of Washington D.C., and love it. Our area has some of the best public schools in the country. When given the opportunity, we love to travel and experience new things together. We take several trips throughout the year to visit family. Our families adore Jake and are excited to have another little one to play with and love.

Every day we are so thankful to be parents. Our favorite times with Jake have been teaching him about the world and seeing his excitement when he has mastered a new skill. Seeing the world through his eyes is a truly amazing experience. Our lives are fuller, happier, and more entertaining with him. Every day brings something new to make us laugh and keep us on our toes. Parenthood is one of the hardest but most rewarding adventures of our lives and it is one we love being on together and hope to share with your child.

We look forward to discussing the level of openness you're comfortable with. Our intent is to be fully open with our child, at age-appropriate levels, and we will certainly share pictures, letters, and other communications so you can know that they are happy and well taken care of. We hope our profile has provided you with answers to any questions as you may have about our family, but we also would be happy to speak with you so that you can better get to know us if you would like.

As excited as we are about the prospect of welcoming this child into our home, we have to assume this is a difficult time in your life. Know that we have deep respect and admiration for your decision and we are grateful that you would consider us for such an enormous responsibility. With everything that we are, we promise that your child will be safe, encouraged, supported, surrounded by friends and family and, most importantly, loved unconditionally.

Thank you for reading this letter and considering us as adoptive parents. Whether you choose us or another wonderful waiting family, may God Bless you and your child with peace, love and happiness.
